Umahi: Anyim Pius Is The Leader Of IPOB In Ebonyi & Senator Egwu Is Their Member

How Sen. Egwu, Ayim, Others Invited IPOB To Cause Mayhem In Ebonyi - Umahi Reveals

Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State, on Friday, accused former Governor of the State and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Senator Sam Egwu and others of inviting the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB to cause mayhem in the state.

Recall that during the EndSARS Protest which was hijacked by hoodlums, many police stations were burnt, many killed while others were injured in Ebonyi State

Speaking while briefing Journalists at the Exco chambers old government house Abakaliki shortly after a security meeting that involved all the security chiefs in the state, governor accused the former SGF Anyim Pius Anyim and the former governor Sam Egwu of allegedly recruiting cultists and some members of IPOB to cause mayhem in the state.

He said: “I want the media to note that I reported an allegation that some Ebonyi people are engaging cultists and according to them, some IPOB members to start killings and crisis in Ebonyi state in the name of fighting Ebonyi state government and the governor.

“And their leader is Senator Anyim Pius Anyim and their members are Dr. Sam Egwu, Senator Obinna Ogba, Mr Ali Odefa and others.

“This is alleged information I got and I needed to share this information with the security agency. The reason is that every governor in the state has been fought by the same set of people and it is very interesting to know that the same senator Pius Anyim fought the former governor Egwu and many people were killed.

“I am not saying that this information is true or not but I needed to raise an alarm because lives will be lost, I pray to God that this shouldn’t be true. And I have asked the security agencies to reach out to them.

“Their party (PDP) will exist peacefully in the state and nobody is going to harass them. But it is important to put it on notice that this is what we heard. It may be true and it may not be true.

“It is something that we need to bring to the notice of the members of the public, so that, God forbid if the information is true and it started happening, let it be that I got the information and I shared it with security agencies.

“I have also directed security agencies to reach them and assure them that nobody will harass them. That nobody will stop their activities in the state and this is very important.

“Finally, I have also directed security agencies to ensure the implementation of policies on tinted glasses of vehicles in the state, the use of a siren and then the police escort.

“And same set of people use sirens, use police escorts and use tinted glasses and when they get to their various localities the police will be shooting on air. We do not want that.

“And I have asked the security agencies to insist on deposing them of such police that they use to harass our innocent citizens. And to stop those who are not supposed to use siren, tinted glasses and cover plates from doing that.

“It is only in Ebonyi state that such a thing is being abused. When I finish, I will go back to my business by God’s special Grace. If you caught me in a tinted glass vehicle, then you have to arrest me.

“Nobody is above the law. Nobody is asking them to join APC but they cannot set the state on crisis. We cannot allow them. They should be told that we will confront them openly, if they try to start killings in Ebonyi state, the governor is appealing to them to be peaceful and know that Ebonyi belongs to all of us.

“Nobody is the owner of the state, so let them not stay in Abuja or another place and behave like they are the owner of the state. If they try to fight the state, this will be their last fight, they will fight this one and they will not fight again” he stated.

Northern elders demand sack of Fashola, say Minister failed region

A member of the Northern Elders Forum and the Chairman of Maje Foundation, Alhaji Rufai Mukhtar Danmaje, has asked the Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola to honorably resign his position for failing to complete any projects since his assumption of office as Works Minister five years ago.

Danmaje said it is no longer story that for example in the entire Northern region, no single project embarked upon by the Minister has been completed despite the huge tax payers money allocated to his ministry.

Mukhtar Danmaje who is presenting the views of the Northern Elders Forum, said if the Minister refused to voluntarily resign, the President Muhammadu Buhari should hesitate to quickly sack him and subject him to scrutiny to know what happens to Billions of Tax payers money allocated to his ministry.

“For example look at the issue of Mambila Hydro Power project. Over time the Minister has been deceiving the President and indeed Nigerians that works have reached high percentage but only for a committee to now expose that there is nothing on ground there”.

He noted that the issue of Mambila hydro Power project is enough to sack the minister or asking him to resign honorably, but he chooses to remain aloof as if all is alright.

He said, “if people like Fashola continue to talk about rotational Presidency back to the South, they might provoke us to reject voting for anybody from that region because we consider him a failure and nothing more.

“You could see that no single road project is been completed under Fashola in the entire Northern Nigeria even the darling Kano, Kaduna, Abuja road he is saying can’t be completed till after their tenure, so what are we saying?”

Talking about the problems of insecurity in the North, Danmaje worried that the region lacks leadership that will steer its mission and design a roadmap for its survival.

“We fall into the trap of insecurity for many reasons, one of which was because of lack of leadership in the region and indeed lack of tentative roadmap for its survival and indeed negligence of the traditional institution which earlier on were our mirrors.”

Kwankwaso, Ganduje At Loggerheads Over ‘Sale, Relocation Of Public Properties’

The Kwankwasiyya Movement and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State have threatened to embark on a public protest against the alleged land grabbing and destruction of historical monuments by the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led administration.

The movement, led by a former governor of the state, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, insisted that the selling of public properties to “individuals for personal gains through non-transparent and unconstitutional means that are hitherto being used for the benefit of all” will also be challenged before the court of law if the government does not reverse its decisions.

The deputy governorship candidate of the PDP during the 2019 election, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who is also the spokesman of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, made the position of the movement and the party known yesterday while addressing a press conference in Kano.

Gwarzo listed some of the properties to include Daula Hotel, Triumph Publishing Company, Eid Ground at Kofar Mata, Panshekara Modern Abbatoir; some part of Fagge Juma’at Mosque, Hajj Camp and Shahuci Motor Park.

Similarly, the movement questioned the non constitution of a panel of enquiry on police brutality in the state as directed by the federal governments in the wake of the EndSARS protests that rocked the nation, Kano inclusive.

In his reaction, Governor Ganduje said all the decisions on the relocation and/or sale of the properties in question were properly debated by the state Executive Council and had the best interest of the state at heart.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, the governor noted that members of the Kwankwasiyya movement and the PDP are fellow citizens of the state and are at liberty to challenge the decision of his administration before the court of law.

“There haven’t been any of these issues that hasn’t been discussed and looked into by the Kano State Executive Council; sometimes with the inputs of professionals before a final decision is taken… So as far these decisions are concern, they are not illegal, and they have been done with due consultations with relevant stakeholders,” he said.

He also said they will have to get the approval of the police for them to embark on any protest in the state, insisting that with what transpired in the aftermath of ENDSARS protest across the country, the state would not allow anyone to hide behind any political ideology to foment troubles in the state.
