Trump: 'There's No Way Biden Got 80M votes, This Was A 100% Rigged Election'

President Donald Trump is still refusing to concede to Joe Biden and claiming without evidence that he was cheated by widespread election fraud in the US presidential election, IgbereTV reports.

On Tuesday, President-elect Joe Biden's total tally of votes surpassed 80 million, making him the first-ever presidential candidate in United States history to achieve that feat.

Currently, the Democrat has 80,063,589 votes to Donald Trump’s 73,904,195.

Reacting on Twitter on Thursday November 26, President Trump claimed he just saw the vote tabulations and that there was no way Biden could gather 80,000,000 votes in the presidential election.

He also insisted on previous claims that the election was '100%' rigged.

Trump wrote:

"Just saw the vote tabulations. There is NO WAY Biden got 80,000,000 votes!!! This was a 100% RIGGED ELECTION."

NERC To Begin Another Electricity Tariff Review.

Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has notified the public of the second electricity tariff review this year as it called for comments within 21 days.

In a notice it published on Wednesday, the power sector regulator said the tariff review is for the Distribution Companies (DisCos), the Generation Companies (GenCos) and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

What you should know about hike in Electricity Tariff
North is the worst place to live in Nigeria — Sultan
Daily Trust also reports that the review notice issued by the Chairman, Prof. James Momoh, would not be superintended by him as he was due to leave office yesterday, November 26, having clocked 70 years, as specified by the Electric Power Sector Reform Act 2005.

The latest tariff order referred to as the Multi Year Tariff Order (MYTO) 2020 was re-implemented on November 1, 2020 with tariffs rising by over 50 per cent for most consumers.

While that tariff will elapse by December, NERC could implement this reviewed tariff by January 2021.

The Commission considers parameters during the review such as inflation, US Dollar exchange rate to Naira, natural gas price and available generation capacity. Higher inflation and forex especially, could trigger a rise in the tariff, our analysis shows.

NERC said although the current MYTO 2020 addresses some investment recovery issues of the DisCos, there is still a gap.

“The issues presented by the DisCos in their request were, however, not fully considered by the Commission considering that no additional Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) was approved for them to meet the periodic service level commitments required to deliver energy to customers on the different service bands.”

It was learnt that the 11 DisCos have submitted their extra-ordinary tariff review proposals to NERC for the agency to add the CAPEX fund to the tariff.

“The Commission therefore intends to continue with the ongoing extra-ordinary tariff review for the DisCos in addition to the mandatory periodic minor review,” NERC confirmed.

DonaId Trump: I Will Give up Power If Electoral College Votes Biden In December

President Donald Trump gave defiant Thanksgiving remarks at the White House Thursday, insisting falsely that he beat Joe Biden and wavering on whether he would ever concede or attend Biden’s inauguration.

It was the first time Trump responded to questions from reporters since the election.

He said if the electoral college confirms Biden’s victory, “they’ve made a mistake,” but that he would give up power and leave the White House.

“Certainly I will, and you know that,” Trump said in remarks after speaking via videoconference to U.S. troops to mark the Thanksgiving holiday.

Trump twice declined to say he would formally concede though, adding that would be a very hard thing to do. He also continued to complain about what he called a fraud in the tabulation of votes from the Nov. 3 election.

There is no evidence of a widespread fraud, and numerous states have certified the results.

The Electoral College electors in each state are to vote Dec. 14. Certificates recording the electoral vote results in each state must be received by the president of the Senate no later than Dec. 23.

LAGOS CBD ADVISES AGAINST SALE, USE OF FIREWORKS WITHIN BUSINESS DISTRICTS

… Assures Residents, Shoppers, Business Owners of Safety

#ForAGreaterLagos

@jidesanwoolu @lagos_cbd @Sola_Giwa https:///xeiKGeReLk

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Central Business Districts, Mr. Olugbenga Oyerinde, has advised against the sale and use of fire crackers or any type of fireworks within business districts to prevent hazards to the people and the environment.

Oyerinde disclosed today in Lagos while speaking on the Office’s preparation for the yuletide season, urging parents and guardians to warn their wards against the use of fireworks.

He said that the law banning its use is still in force and security agencies in Lagos State will arrest those selling and using the device in the markets. The Special Adviser averred that @lagos_cbd enforcement officers and other security agencies have been mandated to ensure that fireworks should not be used by anyone, especially within the markets and residential areas.

“Fireworks have a similar sound as some guns used by criminals, as such people cannot differentiate them. Also, there is a need to protect markets against fire outbreaks.

Therefore, it is important to clamp down on the sale and usage to help secure people and valuable property, as the Christmas and New Year celebrations approach”, he said.

Similarly, the Special Adviser assured shoppers, residents and business owners within the Central Business Districts of the readiness of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration to ensure the yuletide season is devoid of traffic gridlock and criminal activities.

He noted that the State Govt is concerned about the menace of some recalcitrant commercial bus drivers, private vehicles owners and commercial motorcycle operators on roads because they cause needless road traffic snarls & loss of man-hours on routes within the business district.

Informing that the State government has put adequate measures in place to ensure that residents, business owners and shoppers go about their activities with much ease during the festive period, the Special Adviser hinted that there will also be total enforcement of the traffic and safety laws.

“It is not enough to have safety regulations, they must be enforced and complied with to prevent avoidable loss of lives, property and injuries.

As a government which cares about the safety of lives and property, nothing short of strict adherence to safety rules will be acceptable, relevant provisions of the law will be applied against erring individuals and organisations”, he said.

Oyerinde, therefore, urged all stakeholders within the business districts to be vigilant, especially when in large gatherings such as in markets, religious programmes and carnivals, assuring that the State, especially the CBDs, remain safe and secure for people to live and do business.

He also appealed to Community Development Associations, leaders of religious organisations, members of organised trade unions and associations to work with the State government as well as security agencies to report suspicious activities that may compromise the security of lives and property.

Lai Mohammed Denies Announcing ₦5 Million Hate Speech Fine

Despite video evidence to the contrary, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has denied announcing an increment in the fine for hate speech from N500,000 to N5m.

Mohammed, who on August 5, 2020, announced the decision of the National Broadcasting Commission to increase the fine for hate speech, stated on oath that he did not do so.

The minister said this in a counter-affidavit in response to an originating motion filed before a Federal High Court in Lagos by human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong.

Effiong is challenging the imposition of N5m fine on Nigeria Info 99.3FM, Lagos, and the threat by the National Broadcasting Commission to punish other broadcast stations in the country over alleged hate speech.

In an affidavit deposed to by a Litigation Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Sunday Ojobo, the minister stated that he never announced the fine.

The affidavit further read, “Paragraph 19 is denied. The 2nd defendant (Mohammed) did not announce an increment in any fine for hate speech from N500,000 to N5,000,000 or any other because there is a governmental body or institution mandated to regulate and enforce the Nigerian Broadcasting Code.”

The minister stated that the constitution allowed human rights to be suspended for the sake of national interest.

Mohammed further stated that the NBC Act gave the commission the power to sanction stations that contravene its code.

Atiku Tells APC, Presidency To Focus More On Nigeria's Problems Than Him

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has enjoined the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Presidency to seek ways of solving the problems they created for Nigerians instead of focusing on him.

The former Vice President noted that the governing APC “has validated the assumption that the major reason the condition of living has been deplorable under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is on account of the fact that the party focuses more on playing petty politics than in actual governance.”

The APC had speculated that the plethora of goodwill messages sent to the former Vice President on the occasion of his 74th birthday anniversary was a precursor to his early campaigns for the 2023 presidential election.

But in a statement through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mazi Paul Ibe, Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) standard-bearer in the 2019 election, said: “It is preposterous that a political party, which has spent the past five and half years launching humongous and unprecedented hardship on Nigerians finds no time to address and apologise to Nigerians for the false promises of change that they made.”

He regretted that the governing party could shamelessly “waste a whole day self-adulating about politicians, who have crossed to join the APC,” noting that neither PDP nor Atiku has initiated discussions with anyone on a 2023 presidential run.

“It is APC, which has busied itself talking about zoning and focusing on rigging the next election. For the avoidance of any shred of doubt, Atiku, like many Nigerians, who are pained by the downward spiral of condition of the country under the APC government, has preoccupied himself with proffering solution to the myriad of problems the APC has visited on the country.

“It is evident that the APC has failed woefully in all the major issues it campaigned against the PDP in 2015 from poverty to insecurity; joblessness and high cost of living; national unity to bad foreign image; human rights abuse to economic recessions – issues which if the APC was a serious political party, should be dispensing its energy in resolving,” he stated.

While decrying the inability of President Buhari and APC to address the pervasive state of insecurity in the country and unite a sharply divided nation, Atiku lamented: “But, rather than do that, the APC is prancing about feeling good that its stock of membership is upping, while the economic profile of the country and its people keeps ebbing.

“Perhaps, we should remind the APC that focusing on Atiku will not improve the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or take the country out of the current recession; it will not create jobs for the youths of Nigeria.

Focusing on Atiku will not solve the problem of inflation and high cost of food items; and neither would it lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.”

#asuustrike: ASUU Divided Over FG's Offer To End Strike

ACADEMIC Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) branches are divided over whether to accept the Federal Government’s offer and call off their eight-month-old strike.

The union will harmonise the positions of zones and branches at a meeting in Abuja today.

With some branches insisting that the government must meet all the demands before the strike is called off, the union may put the decision to a vote.

The Ahmadu Bello University branch agreed with the government on the N40 billion Earned Academic Allowance (EAA).

The branch, however, called for payment of the allowance before the strike will be called off.

Lecturers at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Delta State, said negotiations with the Federal Government must be concluded before the strike is called off.

Ezekiel Agbalagba, chairman of ASUU at the university, said the congress on Wednesday accepted the EAA, but rejected the N25 billion for the revitalisation of the varsities.

According to him, the latest concession by the Federal Government is “an offer”, adding: “Let it land in our purse first.”

He added: “We are willing to suspend the strike, but some of those contending issues should be thrashed and thrashed once.”

ASUU chapters of the University of Maiduguri, Yobe State University and Federal University Gashua resolved to get a serious commitment from the Federal Government before they call off the industrial action.

The Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (UAM) ASUU voted to continue with the strike action until the Federal Government implements what was offered during the negotiation.

ASUU- UAM chapter said both their withheld salaries and sundry allowances must be also paid.

A lecturer at UAM, who preferred not to be named, said they voted that the strike should continue until the government fulfils its part of the bargain.

ASUU national leadership will receive reports from zonal coordinators, following state congresses.

After considering the reports, the leadership is expected to take a position and present it to the Federal Government.

A source said some of the congresses voted to call off the strike; others did not.

The source said the congresses agreed on the offers presented by the government to the union and with a timeframe to implement some of them.

The source added: “All the reports will come in today (yesterday) and we can make a decision on it.”

Last Friday, the Federal Government agreed with ASUU’s demand for payment of lecturers’ salaries from February to June through the old platform – the Government Integrated Financial and Management Information System.

The government said the exemption of ASUU from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) was temporary pending when the university lecturers will complete the development of its payment platform – the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS).

After weeks of negotiations, the government offered to raise the EAA from N30billion to N35billion and the revitalisation fund from N20billion to N25billion.

Cumulatively, the government, through the Accountant-General of the Federation, offered the lecturers N65 billion to call off the strike.

The government also shifted ground on some issues, including the insistence that all the academic staff of federal universities must be paid through the IPPIS platform.

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN ASUU Chairman, Prof Moyosore Ajao, said the chapter was in alignment with the national body.

He said: “Our president will make a pronouncement on our resolution after our meeting tomorrow (today).”

A source at the ASUU UNILORIN meeting said the union resolved that “our salaries be paid and must henceforth not be stopped”.

“We also resolved that ASUU is not and cannot be on IPPIS,” he added.

Chairman of University of Jos chapter of ASUU, Dr Lazarus Maigoro, said: “We are under a strict directive from the national body not to release our resolutions yet.”

Sokoto Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, Dr Jamilu Shehu, told our correspondent that the zones are expected to make their positions known at the Abuja meeting.

Lagos Police Inspector Rapes Undergraduate, Threatens Suicide

A police inspector attached to the Agbado Police Station, Lagos State Police Command, Adelakun Amubieya, has been arrested for allegedly raping an undergraduate, Joy (not real name), in the Ipaja area of the state.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspect and the victim lived in the same compound on Abesan Estate.

The cop and his wife were said to have promised to teach the teenager how to make money with an application on her phone.

The 18-year-old, who went to the couple’s apartment on November 15, reportedly met Amubieya alone.

The policeman allegedly forced her into the bedroom and raped her.

Joy told PUNCH Metro that all appeals to the suspect to let her go fell on deaf ears.

Narrating her ordeal, she said, “Sometime in October, I came downstairs to receive a call due to bad network and I overheard the policeman and his wife talking about something, but I didn’t pay attention.

“When I was done with the call, his wife said their discussion was about a betting site and all I needed to do was to drop my details and I would be receiving N2,000 every three days. They said I must be 18 to play. I told them that I would return on Friday, November 13, when I would have clocked 18.”

The victim said after she returned from church on the Sunday of that week, she went to the cop’s apartment.

“I sat on the edge of the chair next to the door, while he sat on the chair near his room. He said he just woke up from sleep and I should come back later.

“I was about leaving when he called me back and asked what the time was. I told him it was 1.42pm; he said his wife would be back by 3pm. That was when I knew his family was not around. I stood up to leave and he told me to hug him, but I declined; he hugged me forcefully and dragged me into the room. He told me to lie on the bed, but I refused. He pushed me to the bed and started kissing and fingering me.

“I struggled to get him off, but he held my legs and had sex with me. I begged him to stop, but he didn’t answer me. I could not shout because I was scared of what he could do to me. He is a policeman and may have a gun in the house. Besides, people were making a noise outside, so no one would hear me.

“I told him to get a condom so he could get off me and I could look for what to do, but he didn’t answer me,” she added.

The victims’ father, who demanded justice, said when he got to know about the rape, he challenged the suspect, but he denied it.

“He said that my daughter was lying against him. I took my daughter to a hospital and some tests were carried out. I also reported at the Ipaja Police Station. Policemen were sent to his apartment, but he was not around. His office was called as well, and when they could not produce him, I reported to a rights group and we went to Mirabel Centre where tests were conducted.

“After they waited for him to show up at the Ipaja Police Station and he didn’t, the case was transferred to the Gender Unit at Ikeja. The man didn’t show up till Monday after sending people to beg me. When I asked him why he raped my daughter, he said it was the devil’s work. I want justice because my daughter is traumatised,” he added.

PUNCH Metro obtained a voice note the suspect reportedly sent to the victim’s father, begging for forgiveness.

Speaking in Yoruba, he said, “Please, I beg you in the name of God, treat me like a prodigal son that has offended his father. I don’t have anything to say before God and man because I know how you treat me and my family; you’re like a daddy to me.

“I’m begging you in the name of God and the creator of my children, mum and late father. I’m like the breadwinner of my family; if you continue to pursue this case, you want to make my parents cry, and you don’t want me to achieve my aim in life because this is becoming more than what I bargained for.

“If I cannot continue again, it will be okay to take my life, but who will take care of my children? There’s nobody. Please daddy, I beg you in the name of God, with the blood of Jesus, have mercy on me, tell me the way forward. I could not eat or drink since it happened. I have tried my best to talk to God; even if I bring a lot of people to beg you, it cannot equate my sin before you.”

The Executive Director of Esther Child Rights Foundation, Esther Ogwu, urged parents to be vigilant.

“I also want to advise parents to tell their children to be careful of where they go; they should not enter into people’s houses anyhow because it is dangerous,” she added.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, promised to react after getting full details.

He had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.
