NFF Considers Amuneke, Salisu Options For Rohr’s Assistant Role

Sequel to the recent uninspiring performance of the Super Eagles that led to the home and away draws with their Sierra Leonean counterparts in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the leadership of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are set to take measures to check the slide.

Consequently, the NFF is tinkering with the idea of contracting either Emmanuel Amuneke or Salisu Yusuf to assist Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, adding to Joseph Yobo’s assistant capacity.

“Having seen the technical report from the coach and taken into consideration the observations from the meeting with the sports minister, we shall open talks with either Emmanuel Amuneke or Salisu Yusuf to support Rohr,” an official of the NFF told Completesports.com

“We have to look at the possibility of getting either of the two experienced coaches to join the technical crew. We shall contact them first to know if they are interested in joining the team and if they are, we will discuss terms with them and pick the one who fits into our plans. The Super Eagles will also get a psychologist, physical trainer and video analyst as part of the backroom staff.

“The decisions to boost the Super Eagles technically stems from the way the team collapsed after leading Sierra Leone 4-0 after 30 minutes, only for the game to end 4-4 and the return leg ended goalless. We hope the additions to the technical crew will help the team greatly,” our source stated.

Amuneke is presently the director of African Academies of an Egyptian top division club , Misr Lel Makkasa, while Salisu Yusuf who was Rohr’s former assistant until he was suspended over bribery allegations before he was relieved of the job last year, is presently the Chief Coach of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu.

Amuneke rejected the NFF Technical Director job offer, a role that Austine Eguavoen has taken up.

Marrying Adesua Is The Second Best Decision I Made In My Adult Life"- Banky W and Adesua Write Touching Note To Each Other On Third Wedding Anniversary

Banky W and Adesua Etomi-Wellington are marking their third wedding anniversary today and the couple took to Instagram bto make sweet posts to each other, IgbereTV reports.

The singer shared a video from their wedding and spoke of their love journey.

He wrote:

"3 years ago, Susu and I made the decision to love each other forever. But the only reason forever is even possible, is because we made the decision to make God our foundation. And while a foundation is the part of the house that people don't see, it's by far the most important.

Because you can fix cracks in the walls, refurbish the rooms and repaint the halls, but you can't get the foundation wrong if you want any chance of the house standing at all. The structural integrity of a house requires a foundation that is built to last.

I recently heard a Pastor say that love can't keep a marriage going... he said it takes God and commitment. I think maybe he had a bit of a misunderstanding of what love really means. Because... well, God IS love. And love is commitment. Without both, it certainly isn't love and it definitely won't work. People sometimes think Susu led me to God. But it's not true. God led me to Susu. And He has kept us through it all.

Marrying @adesuaetomi is the 2nd best decision I made in my adult life. The best was re-dedicating my life to Christ.

Susu, I am thankful for you, and grateful to you. You are everything I want and much more than I deserve. You mean the world to me and I intend to spend the rest of my life proving it. I love you now more than ever.
3 years down, I'm looking forward to forever.

I love you. Happy Anniversary Shuga.

Adesua shared the same video on Instagram and told Banky that apart from Jesus, he is the light of her life.

She wrote:

"Three years? Seems like yesterday. Seems like forever.
Three years with my bestie.
Everyone knows you're my husband but today I want to thank you for being my best friend.
The most attentive, loving, funny, caring, inspiring friend I have ever had.
I thought I knew how to love but omo, you have schooled me.
I never knew it was possible to be with someone this long and not have it be riddled with tons of fights. I'm glad for our low voiced intense conversations. Lol
You don't make me feel crazy, I don't have to yell before I'm heard. I don't have to worry. I don't second guess how you feel about me. I know I'm valued, as I should be.
Thank you bubz, for just being a correct human being. For the heart that you have. For being quick to be sorry when you're wrong (whispers...even when you're not. Lol) (I do the same sha)
For not putting your ego before us. For giving me a home that's my safe haven. I'm grateful for the home we have built. I always look forward to coming home and it takes a lot to even get me out of the house. Lol.
God has done the most marvellous things these past 3 years. May he continue to be the 3rd cord in this threefold cord. As long as he lives and he shields and we keep him part of our lives, we will never be easily broken.
Apart from Jesus, you are def the light of my life.
May that light continue to shine brighter and brighter.
You, my darling are a force to be reckoned with and the world will remember your name.
@bankywellington I love you doesn't seem to suffice anymore but I'll say it anyway. I love you with every fibre of my being. Let's do this till we're old and grey and maybe in heaven too?

‘It’s absurd’ — El-Rufai kicks against zoning of leadership positions

Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, has again kicked against zoning of political leaders, saying no country progresses with such an arrangement.

Speaking at the Nigerian Economic Summit (#nes26) in Abuja, the governor said every qualified person should be given equal opportunity to contest for political positions.

In Nigeria, political offices — especially the presidency — are rotated on the basis of geographical zones, from the time of Olusegun Obasanjo up till the administration of President Muhamadu Buhari who is from Katsina state.

With the 2023 election roughly two years away, some Nigerians have started clamouring that the presidency should return to the south.

But speaking at a plenary session at the summit on Tuesday, el-Rufai said Nigeria has failed to make serious progress over the years because of the culture of rotating leaders.

The governor, who said leaders should not be selected by zones or political parties as this “will lead to inefficiency”, added that what can be done is “to give every society a framework of equal opportunity to take advantage of and prosper”.

“I do not believe that we should be driven in our politics and economics by distribution whether or not there is a logic behind it,” he said.

“In my honest view, Nigeria went wrong when we focused on distribution rather than production. We like to distribute and it has gone as far as saying that in a state, governorship should rotate; that is absurd.

“There is no country in the world that has made progress in the last 50 years that rotates its leaders. I think if we move away from this fixation about distribution to selecting or picking the best person to get the job done… when the job is done, everybody benefits.

“Right now, we are distributing this and we are not making any progress because the focus is on distribution.”

El-Rufai also said there is the need to have more youth in political offices, faulting a system where the majority young population is governed by “old people like me”.

“We can’t have a country with 90 percent of our population below the age of 40 all ruled by old people like me,” he said.

“We must have young people in government being trained to take over from us.”

Donald Trump Grants Michael Flynn Presidential Pardon

It is my Great Honor to announce that General Michael T. Flynn has been granted a Full Pardon. Congratulations to @GenFlynn and his wonderful family, I know you will now have a truly fantastic Thanksgiving!

https://twitter.com/realDonald....Trump/status/1331706

US President Donald Trump has pardoned his former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.

The president said the widely expected act of clemency was his "Great Honor".

Mr Flynn was among former aides to President Trump convicted during a justice department investigation into alleged Russian election interference.

He admitted in 2017 to lying to the FBI about contacts with Russia's envoy, then tried to withdraw his plea.

The White House said on Wednesday that the pardon would finally end "the relentless, partisan pursuit of an innocent man".

Its statement described Mr Flynn as "the victim of partisan government officials engaged in a co-ordinated attempt to subvert the election of 2016"

Canadian Authorities Discover 70 Stolen Cars Destined For Nigeria And Ghana

York and Toronto police have made a “large” recovery of more than 70 stolen cars worth more $4.5 million in a joint investigation with the Canada Border Services Agency

Seventy-three vehicles have been found from across the GTA due to the work of the York Regional Police, Toronto Police and Canada Border Services Agency.

“Auto theft is of huge concern to police,” Toronto Police Supt. Ron Taverner told the Toronto Sun.

“And we’re actively involved in investigations and targeting groups that are involved in these particular crimes. They’re organized crime groups and they’re going out and stealing these vehicles and, in a lot of cases, they’re being put in containers and shipped off to other countries. And we’re finding more and more of this is taking place. Money drives a lot of these crimes.”

The investigation began in September when authorities became aware of a gang of thieves allegedly targeting Lexus, Toyota and Honda cars and operating out of a location on Kitimat Rd. in Mississauga, according to police.

Investigators have also allegedly linked this ring to another 32 stolen cars that are believed to have been shipped overseas to either Ghana or Nigeria.

“Our investigators have been working tirelessly to identify those responsible for the many thefts of high-end vehicles in York Region,” said York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween.

Abu Sadiq Ayi, 41; Michael Atta, 32; Prince Boateng, 42; and David Ansong 40 — all of Toronto — face many charges including theft of a motor vehicle.

Taverner said there has been an increased number of vehicle thefts in Toronto from residential driveways.

OBEDIENCE TO LAW CRUCIAL FOR OUR DEVELOPMENT – SANWO-OLU

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has urged Lagosians to be law-abiding as the State can only prosper in an environment of peace and security.

Sanwo-Olu made the plea today, while speaking during the passing out parade of the Year 2020 graduating participants of the Lagos State Law Enforcement Training Institute (LETI) held at the Public Service Staff Development Centre, (PSSDC), Magodo.

Speaking through his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the Governor stressed the need for citizens to always obey the law, adding that his administration recognises the need for an effective security system that promotes a peaceful and prosperous society.

According to the Governor, “Our administration recognises the need for an effective security system as sine-qua-non to a peaceful and prosperous society. This is why Security and Governance represents a key pillar in our administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S agenda. It goes without saying that effective security and safety of lives and property can only be achieved with a qualitative blend of men and materials”.

The Governor added that in order to further enhance the capacity of the State’s law enforcement outfits, such as the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, (LASTMA), Neighbourhood Safety Corps and Vehicle Inspection Services among others, his administration established the Law Enforcement Training Institute (LETI) for personnel to acquire expertise in maintaining peace in the State at all times using state-of-the-art equipment and cutting edge knowledge.

He disclosed that part of the re-engineering process was the deployment of technological tools of law enforcement such as Body Worn Cameras (BWC) and Body Shields in the training of the security personnel, stressing that the equipment will further enhance effective law enforcement in line with modern global trends.

Disclosing that the curriculum of the Institute has also been reviewed in response to the challenges and dynamism of the 21st-century law enforcement, Sanwo-Olu said the overall objective is to always be a step ahead of criminals and lawless elements in Lagos.

He commended the law enforcement officers for their doggedness, courage and tenacity at all times, especially during the recent upheavals that engulfed the whole nation and the State in particular.

The Governor also enjoined the graduating officers to discharge their duties with all due diligence and professionalism, and must be civil in their approach while refraining from any act that would violate the rights of citizens.

Earlier in his address, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), who was represented by the Director of Litigation, Ministry of Justice, Mr. Akinkunmi Idowu, enjoined the graduating law enforcement officers to be polite, decent, humane and firm in the discharge of their duties, emphasising the importance of contributing their own quota towards achieving a better Lagos.

He commended the management of the Lagos State Law Enforcement Training Institute for its continued orientation of enforcement personnel towards reducing liabilities of the State for infraction of the law by the enforcers themselves.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Head of the Lagos State Law Enforcement Training Institute, Prince Ifalade Oyekan thanked the State government for supporting the Institute.

He said as a way of enhancing the skills and the training needs of the law enforcement outfits, the Institute has restructured its training module to reflect the peculiarity of each outfit.

Prince Oyekan, therefore, called on the State government to assist the Institute in the provision of more equipment to achieve a 21st Century Law Enforcement workforce.
