Nigerian universities, others will reopen very soon, FG says

The federal government has released a new update on the resumption of all tertiary institutions across Nigeria - Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, the minister of state for education has said universities will resume soon.

Nwajiuba urged Nigerians students to bear with the government a bit more and stop protesting

As the pressure on the federal government to reopen tertiary institutions continues to grow, the minister of state for education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has assured students that universities across the nation will resume very soon.

Nwajiuba disclosed this on Monday, August 24, while responding to questions at the Presdential Task Force briefing in Abuja, The Guardian reports. Though the minister did not announce any specidic date for reumption, he, however urged all students to stop protesting and bear with th government a little bit more.

Kogi guber: Huge number of APC aspirants is due to my efforts, says Gov Bello He explained that the rioting needs to stop as talks are in full negotiation with Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

This is coming a few days after the minister said that the federal government is making moves to end the ongoing ASUU strike before schools reopen.

Nwajiuba during a programme that aired on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) on Saturday, August 22, noted that many people want the federal government to resolve the strike before reopening schools.

These people believe some public schools which are not ASUU-prone want to take advantage of the strike to move ahead. The education minister said if this is allowed, it would destroy public schools.
Immigration boss gives 10 rules to a successful career Meanwhile,it was reported that Nigerian students took to streets to protest the reopening of all tertiary institutions in the country as the two-week ultimatum issued to the federal government by its leaders on reopening of schools elapsed.

National Association of College of Education Students (NACES) staged a peaceful protest on Wednesday, August 19, despite the heavy threat from police and DSS. The students vowed to continue to shut down Abuja and all the 36 states. In a related development, the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) has been presented before the federal government by ASUU as an alternative to the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS). UTAS was presented to the minister of education, Adamu Adamu by the president of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, on Tuesday, August 18.

Speak to your demons, they don’t have to die, Rapper Eva tells religious people

Popular Nigerian rapper, Eva Alordiah, recently took to social media to address the aggressive manner some religious people pray -

According to her, Jesus only spoke to demons and asked them to leave - Eva said that demons do not have to die and that they should just be asked to leave

In Nigeria, religion is not taken with a pinch of salt and a lot of people dedicate the better part of their lives to issues of God and spirituality. Oftentimes, when some religious people pray, they seek to battle it out with their ‘demons’ vocally by shouting, casting and binding. Well, this method of seeking answered prayers has not gone past the notice of popular rapper, Eva Alordiah.

The music star recently took to social media via her Instastory to address religious people who cast and shout and bind their demons.

The rapper cited the example of Jesus. According to her, Jesus only spoke to the demons and asked them to leave. Eva continued by advising people to speak to their demons because they do not have to die. Instead, they should be asked to leave. She wrote: “The way religious folk cast and shout and bind, they forget that Jesus simply spoke to the ‘demons’ and asked them to leave. Speak to your demons.

They don’t have to die die die die die. Just tell them to go.” See a screenshot of her post below: Speak to your demons, they don’t have to die, Rapper Eva tells religious people .

In other religion related it was earlier reported that Nigerian music star, Waje, recounted how she was banned from singing in the choir after she got pregnant as a teenager. The So Inspired crooner said that she got into a relationship in SS3 and that it gradually went from puppy love to being sexual.

She also spoke on how she eventually told her mother about her pregnancy. According to her, she opened up to her mum about her condition after she was five months in. She said that she even wrote her WAEC while pregnant and nobody knew. The singer then spoke further on how she was stopped from singing in the choir as a result of her condition.

As weeks go by, the Big Brother Naija Lockdown show continues to get interesting. The different relationships in the house have become a major highlight of the show as many Nigerians debate on which ship is strongest.

While some of the housemates have started relationships already, others are still trying to figure out their feelings for each other. Meanwhile, two of the relationships have proven to be serious since they started.

The housemates involved in serious relationships are Erica and Kiddwaya, Neo, and Vee. Coronavirus: A blogging Site recently carried out a poll on social media to ask its readers which of the relationships would last long after the show and they responded.

According to readers, Erica and Kiddwaya's relationship would last longer as they recorded 45% votes. Legit readers share their opinions on the relationship that will last after the BBNaija show. Source:@officialericanlewedim, @yourgistplug1178 Source: Instagram Neo and Vee recorded 31.8% votes.

While 4.2% stated that both relationships would last long after the BBNaija show, 19% said none of the relationships would last. Meanwhile, to show how much his partner meant to him, Neo went out of his way to organise a lovely birthday surprise for Vee. The loverboy wrote Vee a sweet birthday note and the housemates sang her a birthday song as she was presented with a cake.

According to Neo, he had to give up his BBNaira and some personal belongings for him to be able to celebrate his damsel on her special day.

it was earlier reported that Kiddwaya voted Praise out of the BBNaija show. There was a vote tie after housemates were called into the diary room to choose between Praise, Wathoni, Trikytee, and Vee who were all up for possible eviction.

The vote ended up in a tie which saw Wathoni and Praise garnering the same number of votes cast by fellow housemates. Big Brother had to call on the Head of House Kiddwaya to act as the tie-breaker and vote for either Praise or Wathoni to leave the house. Kidd voted against Praise while Wathoni survived the night’s eviction.

Racism is an issue that is plaguing many dark-skinned folks living outside Africa and in other parts of the world. Time has shown that even the rich and famous are not exempted from these attacks and it has also led to numerous deaths, some of which gained attention in recent times.

Just recently, top Nigerian singer, Davido, shared some of his experience with racism as a teenager who grew up in America.

The Risky crooner said that he went to school in Alabama which was a predominantly white state. He added that being an African in a university that had only 13% black people was not easy.

Another Nigerian man succeeds, makes int'l list of successful people under age 30 in art and style (photos) Nigerian music star, Davido. Photo: @davidoofficial / IG. Source: Instagram In his words: “It's crazy, because I'm from both America and Africa, so I know how both sides think.

I went to school in Alabama. I went to college at 15. I was very young. And Alabama was a predominantly white state. So being an African kid in a university where it's 13% Black people, it's amazing.

It's not easy. I had to learn a lot of the things when I was like, "Yo, why you look at me like that?" And not even just being black, being African. They used to ask me questions like, "Yo, how'd you get to America?" I'm like, "What you mean? I came on a plane." "Oh, y'all got airports?" Now every American wants to go to Africa.

Everybody wants to know where they're from. So it's good to see the transition from not being appreciated, to being appreciated right now.” Speaking further, Davido said that he just had a son who is an American citizen and that he plans on speaking to him about the discrimination blacks’ face and also to defend himself.
