*COMMUNICATION: KEY TO A STRONG MARRIAGE*

*BIBLE READING: EPHESIANS 5:22-33; AMOS 3:3*

*"Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honour to the wife as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered." 1Peter 3:7(NKJV).*

One of the most threatened institutions on Earth is the marriage union; for instance, a survey carried out in the United States of America a few years ago revealed that 50% of first marriages, 67% of second marriages and 74% of third marriages all ended in divorce. The disturbing thing about this is that many Christian marriages are being sucked into this blackhole at an alarming rate; the Scripture declares, *"So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."(Matthew 19:6NKJV).* Since it is an established fact that no man can shut any door which the Lord God Almighty Himself has opened, why do some Christian marriages seem to be the exception?

Every marriage made in Heaven must be maintained on Earth, hence, God has given us the responsibility of protecting our nuptial bonds from the serpent in the Garden. The following are four (4) potential pitfalls to every marriage (in no particular order):
•Communication
•Sex
•Money
•The 3rd Party

Every relationship, including marriage, grows stronger through fellowship or communion (2Corinthians 13:14). At the core of communion is communication, which is the lifeblood of every relationship. In other words, what blood is to the human body is what communication is to every relationship. The Bible tells us that the man *"shall LEAVE his father and mother, and shall CLEAVE unto his wife:and they shall BE one flesh."(Genesis 2:24 KJV).* The word "BE" is derived from the Hebrew word "Hayah" which literally means "Become." The truth is that becoming one in a marriage involves a process. The suffix "ing" in the English Language connotes the Present Continuous Tense and effective communication facilitates this process. In view of this, we must be "naked and not ashamed" before our spouses, causing us to know per time how their minds are working (Genesis 2:25).

Since 55% of communication is non-verbal, can you confidently interprete what your spouse is "saying" through their body language alone? If you cannot answer in the affirmative, then a communication breach is present which needs to be nipped in the bud.

The effectiveness and value of an ambassador lies in his ability to accurately represent the interests of his principal in his host country; you cannot represent such interests if you never knew or understood them in the first place. When the Scripture said, "Adam knew Eve his wife," that wasn't merely a reference to procreational intercourse. The word "know" comes from the Hebrew word "yada"(the same as the Greek word "ginosko", which amongst other things means knowledge by experience. The more quality time we spend together with our spouses communicating each other's expectations and peculiarities, the stronger our nuptial bonds become.

*PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we exalt you for all You are and all You do; we receive the grace to understand our spouses through effective communication that we may keep the enemy at bay. Thank You for this, Lord, in Jesus' Mighty Name.

*ACTION POINT
Take time out with your spouse and get to know him/her better, observe him/her carefully to decipher their body language.

TO: ALL WHO ARE AFRAID TO RELEASE THEIR BVN NUMBERS .

ANOTHER INTERNET BANK FRAUD SYSTEM DISCOVERED

A REAL STORY.

@ 1:30pm yesterday I got a phone call from 08148292037 who claimed to be Mr Benjamin from FBN Abuja. He gave my full names, BVN number, Date of Birth, my Alert phone number, which he called, also the 5 digit number I used to create my FBN mobile bank app.

He said that one Mr Usman created a Union bank account, and is trying to move money from my FBN account to the Union bank. He claimed he stopped the transaction, & is trying to verify if I authorised such transaction, which is the reason I have not gotten any debit Alert.

I asked him to go ahead to block the transaction, for I didn't authorise any online transaction.
He then asked if I gave my ATM card to anyone or used my ATM recently, I said NO.

He then asked if I have my ATM card with me, and demanded that I should read out the ATM digit numbers to enable him stop the transaction. I told him that he had already stopped the transaction, and have gotten a clarification from me, which is enough to enable him block whatever that needs to be blocked, if he is truly a first bank staff.

As I refused to call out the numbers, he then asked isn't this is the first 5 numbers? He then asked `what's the next number`? I told him that I will never read out my number to who claimed to be FBN`s staff over the phone, that I will rather go to any First Bank office & complain. He asked me if he is a ghost and not a FBN staff to get all my details.

As I pissed him off by not budging in, he switched off the phone.

An alert came in, as I checked the message on my phone, there was already a message from Union Bank, showing Account opening Authentication numbers 872395, 973392.

I quickly rushed to FBN. The Customer care personnel asked me not to bother about anything, so long as I didn't read out those numbers to him nor gave him my ATM pin or the three digits number at the back of my ATM card.

Please be guided. My people, it is so real & convincing that I believe some Fraudulent bank staffs connive with these DIE HARD HOOLIGANS to dupe innocent customers.

Please share widely ASAP.

I have shared this to you. You too can save someone by sharing. This is true. Just be at alert. Fraudsters are tactical. Don't be a victim, rather be wise.

Soldiers allegedly beat policeman to death in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has identified the inspector allegedly beaten to death by soldiers in the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, identified the slain officer as Inspector Hosea Yakubu, adding that the details surrounding the incident were still sketchy.

It was learnt that Hosea was beaten to a pulp by soldiers attached to a company for driving against the traffic in front of the Eleme Petrochemical Company on Sunday, August 16, 2020.

A brother of the late Hosea, who spoke to The PUNCH on condition of anonymity, said, “My brother and two other policemen drove against the traffic because of gridlock and when they got to the Eleme Petrochemical gate, a soldier in mufti stopped them and an argument ensued, which degenerated into a fight. One of the soldiers, who joined the fight, used a thick plank to hit my brother in the head and he fell down and couldn’t move.

“He was subsequently rushed to the nearest hospital from where he was referred to the UPTH and admitted to the ICU.

“After 24 hours on admission, he gave up. Up till now, neither the police nor the military have said anything or taken action to bring the culprits to justice.”

When contacted, the spokesman for the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Charles Ekeocha, said he had yet to be briefed about the incident and promised to get back to our correspondent later, but he had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.

Dogara’s reported presidential bid, a distraction –Ex-speaker’s aide

An aide to a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has dismissed speculations that his principal is nursing an ambition to serve as the running mate to a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the 2023.

Dogara’s media aide, Turaki Hassan, said this in a statement titled: ‘Rt. Hon. Dogara is concerned about tackling the challenges of our nationhood than 2023’ made available in Abuja on Sunday.

The statement read in part, “It has come to our notice that stories and images are being circulated on social media to the effect that His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara is running for the office of the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for President in 2023.

“Our initial decision was to ignore them since they are utterly baseless, but it appears that the promoters of this fallacy are unrelenting in spreading the falsehood and have now succeeded in making it sound believable to the extent that even some conventional and ‘credible’ media platforms are beginning to take it up.

“In order to stop the further spread of this deliberate mischief, whose objective is yet to be ascertained, the public is hereby advised to disregard and totally discountenance the purported story and pictures for what they are – the handiwork of mischief makers.”

Fani Kayode Reiterates His Support For Ayadev

Former Minister for Aviation, Mr Femi Fani Kayode, has for the second time in two weeks, expressed support to Governor Ben Ayade’s administration, saying that considering many-life touching projects on ground, the Governor was doing well.

Recall that the former presidential spokesperson to Jonathan/ Sambo Presidential Campaign Committee during the 2015 election, had last week, threatened to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside several other party men, over what he saw as an attempt to take the PDP structure in Cross River from the Governor

In an interview with Journalists, after spending a week in Calabar, inspecting projects initiated by the Ayade-led administration, Fani Kayode said the Governor meant well for the state and should be allowed to focus on completion of his projects.

He submitted that if Governor Ayade “can establish this legacy the way he wants to build it and if his successor can build on this legacy, within the next five years or so, oil wells or no oil wells, Cross River state will be one of the most prosperous state in Nigeria because what the Governor is doing is to create an industrial space for employment and prosperity”.

Narrating the projects sites he toured alongside the Governor, the PDP Chieftain said: “I came to Cross River State to see things for myself and I was quite impressed by what I saw. I’m very proud of the effort that Ayade has made. We went to the Cross River garment factory and the Industrial Park, Calabar; we went to the 24 thousand board capacity chicken processing factory- Calachika, situated at the industrial park; we went to the rice seed and seedling factory situated at the industrial park.

“We went to a 23-megawatt power plant located along parliamentary extension, Calabar, we went to a 26mega watt gas fire plant at Tinapa, Calabar; we went to an ultra-modern noodles factory located in calabar; we saw and went through the dualization of the Calabar-Odukpani highway which is being funded by Gov Ayade.

“We went for the Organic fertilizer plant, Calabar, we went to Pile and Pylons factory located at Akampa, we went to the West African Fabrication Academy; I saw pictures of Bakassi deep seaport- we could not get there because of time. I also saw pictures and draft of Obudu International Airport, we could not go there too because it could take up to many hours to get there.

“We actually went to the 275km six lane super highway from Bakassi deep seaport to the North, that’s a very important project as far as I’m concern and there are also rail services next to it as well. And then there’s this spectacular Spaghetti flyover at Odukpani junction which is an extraordinary project, it will have five layers.”

“We went to all these places, the governor explained everything, the quality of material and the machinery, there was nothing that was brought from or made in China, everything was made in Germany and places like that. A lot of the materials they used were locally sourced, in other words, you build things here thereby saving a lot of foreign exchange.”

He lauded the Governor for having idea about nearly all his projects before venturing into it, and therefore appealed to critics to join hands with Ayade in moving Cross River state forward, adding “most of these projects are going to be completed before he leaves and some of them like the Garment Factory is already functional right, now providing employment.”

Asked whether the reasons for the visit was not unconnected to the rumoured presidential ambition, the PDP said “I have been to several states in the North but I haven’t been to South, since the lock down; so I decided that why not use the opportunity and do some politicking and also go and see what is going on in some of these states.

“I left last Thursday, it’s been so hectic, within that time, and there have been a lot of political discussion, collaboration about so many different things. In terms of ambition, let’s just wait and see what will happen but what I will tell you is that there is a lot of motion within the party now, within our party and any other party and there’s a lot of collaborations some of them even across party lines towards 2023.”

Deadly Clash: 21 IPOB Members Feared Dead

Twenty-one members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPO have been reportedly killed in Enugu State. This is following a clash between the Biafra agitators and security operatives.

Spokesman of the proscribed pro-Biafra group, Comrade Emma Powerful put the death figure at 21 and over 40 others injured. It was also learnt that some security personnel are reportedly missing after the attack.
Orient Daily gathered that the clash occurred in the Emene area when policemen stormed Community Secondary School, Emene, where members of IPOB were meeting.

IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu
But the attempt to arrest the IPOB members was resisted leading to a face-off, leading to an alleged attack on a police station in the area.
A team of Police, Army and Department of State Service (DSS) operatives, later arrived as a reinforcement to the overpowered policemen from Emene Division.
In a statement, Powerful described it as yet another onslaught against unarmed IPOB members.

“The Nigerian government and her security agencies have once again exhibited another crude round of killing and massacre against the peaceful and unarmed IPOB family members in Enugu State today 23rd of August, 2020.
“This rampant killing of innocent members of IPOB will be recipocrated in due cause.

IPOB members have been slaughtered and arrested in their numbers across different locations in Enugu State today Sunday 23rd August 2020.
“We must warn and put the whole world on notice that Nigerian Government and her security operatives should stop killing our people because we are peaceful organization with the mandate of restoring Biafra sovereignty within shortest period.

“Today, the Nigerian security personnel stormed IPOB meeting ground in Enugu and started shooting sporadically which consumed lives of 21 members and 47 arrested for just no cause or provocation. “It is unfortunate that security operatives murdered innocent members and carried their lifeless bodies to unknown locations.

The security in the whole world must understand that keeping quiet and following the rule of law should not be construed as weakness on the part of IPOB,” he stated.
Powerful further declared that the IPOB is not a violent group “and there is nothing they can do to change our resolve to maintain peace and order in our land.

“The efforts of the Nigeria Government and her partners in crime in trying to push IPOB to change their tactics will amount to vanity.
“We are warning and asking Nigeria government and her security operatives to stop this atrocity immediately.

“Why have they refused to confront Fulani terrorists herdsmen, Boko Haram terrorists, Ansaru group, Fulani bandits, ISIS and other groups ravaging the country and busy killing innocent and unarmed citizens of IPOB?
“Those responsible for this barbaric killing in Enugu today must pay for their actions against IPOB at the appropriate time. “It is laughable for DSS to be claiming that they lost 5 personnel in the hands of unarmed and peaceful people.

“It is clear to all that IPOB doesn’t indulge or carry arm or involve with any object. IPOB is a peaceful movement and we must remain so till Biafra is totally achieved,” he further claimed.
As of the time of filling this report, the police is yet to issue official statement on the incident.
