*CLOSER THAN A BROTHER*
*BIBLE READING: JOB 6:14; LUKE 16:1-13*
*A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24(NKJV).*
There are several indices of power, some of them are; political power, intellectual power, financial power and social capital. Social power is, your relationship net worth.
Man was designed as a social being; he was made a relational creature. To be successful in life, we need people because no great achievement is ever accomplished in complete isolation. When your life is void of positive relationships, it could be termed as another degree of poverty.
More worthy of note is the fact that all of God's dealings with us in terms of His blessings and intervention in our lives require people. This proves the vital truth that God is the source of our blessings but men are definitely the channels. *"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall MEN give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete withal it shall be measured to you again."* Luke 6:38 (KJV). You see!
Time and again, life has proven that healthy relationships are what is needed mostly for turbulent times. They are tools that God rides on to bring intervention for our cases. In other words, building good relationships helps to make certain challenges unfelt.
In Luke 16:1-13, Jesus told a parable with this vital moral lesson about a servant who was faced with dismissal from his job. Upon foreseeing the threat of losing his job glaring at him, he resorted to this all-time law of success: relationship networking. As a matter of fact, Jesus' emphasis on the servant's decision reveals one of the reasons for relationship building: hard times.
There are situations in life that your biological family may be absent or incapacitated to lend a helping hand or give you a listening ear, only your friends will. There are heights you will never reach without certain relationships. There are friends whose presence in life your can mean more than gold. Such relationships are more than financial capital and they are not built casually but by covenant.
For us as Christians, the common denominator that coronated us into Christ as His brothers is a shared creed, and personal profession of His Lordship knitted by covenant through the sacrifice of His body and blood. By this, we are offered a foundation for trustworthy relationships. This means that we should trust each other, we should be there for ourselves, we should stand for each other, we should defend each other at all times, all of which biological relationships may not be there to offer us, but covenant friendships will. There are friends that stick closer than a brother.
*PRAYER
Father thank You for enlisting me into Your covenant family through our Lord Jesus Christ. Help me to value, nuture, and maintain the relationships You bring my way beginning with relationships of my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. As Your word says today, help me to prove myself friendly towards those that You bring my way in Jesus name, Amen.

774,000 Jobs: FG says beneficiaries will be reengaged as agric extension workers
The federal government has given more update on the 774,000 jobs project - National Directorate of Employment said the beneficiaries will not be disengaged after the three-month period - NDE DG, Mohammed Argungu, said the beneficiaries will be re-engaged as agricultural extension workers
Mohammed Nasir Ladan Argungu, director-general of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has stated that the beneficiaries of the 774,000 jobs will not be disengaged after the three-month period. The NDE DG, however, said they will be re-engaged as agricultural extension workers in what partially broke the back of controversies generated by the planned project. Speaking with Daily Trust, Argungu who is also the chairman of the selection committee said there have been efforts by some people to hijack the scheme.
He further added the recent furore and dust raised is because of clashes of interest as some members of the National Assembly want to oversee and control the project.
Argungu said the federal government, through the Ministry of Labour and Employment, will not give room for possible manipulation of the project. He further claimed that if successfully executed, the project will boost local economy, provide jobs and help reduce the level of poverty. "I believe is one of the most important (objective of the scheme). We’re not just to engage 1, 000 young men and women in each local government after three months. "We have carried out studies across the nation, we are going to use these young men and women as agricultural extension workers. We’ve put everything in place, we did some studies," Argungu said.
Meanwhile,It was reported that the planned 774,000 jobs for Nigerians project is still generating disquiet as House of Representatives members who belong to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rejected the scheme, saying it is politically motivated.

Outrage, Controversy Trail Bloody IPOB-Police Enugu Clash
Widespread condemnation and outrage have trailed last weekend’s bloody confrontation involving members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPO and security agencies at Emene in Enugu state. Although, there are still conflicting accounts of what triggered the shootings and the actual casualty figures, the tragic incident has continued to generate ripples across the south east. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, human rights group, top political leaders and other commentators have condemned the incident and called for restraint.
Orient Daily gathered that attempt by police operatives to stop a meeting of IPOB members at the Community Secondary School, Emene last Sunday degenerated to shooting, culminating in death of scores of members of the outlawed group and two security operatives. Although the police claimed that four civilians and two operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) lost their lives, IPOB insisted that, at least, 21 of its members were gunned down during the clash and about 47 arrested.
Claims and counter claims
The DSS, had claimed, in a statement issued through its spokesman, Peter Afunanya, that its operatives who had gone on intelligence gathering operation were attacked by armed IPOB members, leading to the death of two of its personnel.
The Enugu state police command, which also reinforced the DSS claim, added that four other persons, suspected to be IPOB members, also died. The police, however, blamed the skirmishes on alleged attack on security operatives by the pro-Biafra agitators.
According to an official account of the incident issued by the Enugu state police command’s public relations officer, Daniel Ndukwe, security operatives had stormed the place at Emene on a rescue mission following credible information that suspected members of IPOB, numbering over 500, had gone on a rampage, blocking [and burning tyres on] the road.
“They were said to have abducted operatives of the DSS. Following the report, the state commissioner of police, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman immediately deployed operatives of the command … to rescue the abducted operatives and restore normalcy.”
Ndukwe said the police operatives were joined by those of DSS, the Army and Air Force and “came under serious gunfire attacks by the hoodlums.” The ensuing gun duel, according to the police was such that “two of the hoodlums were gunned down, while some of them escaped with bullet wounds.”
He insisted that five [and not more] IPOB members were arrested, adding that the arrested members confessed that they were in the school for a meeting and training in martial art and self-defence skills.
“Machetes, cut-to-size woods with nails affixed, phones and other items were recovered at the scene. Meanwhile, before getting to the scene, the hoodlums had macheted and gruesomely killed a young man, set another ablaze, while also attacking police personnel resident in the area,” he adds.
IPOB, however, in a statement through its spokesman, Comrade Emma Powerful, claimed that security personnel stormed IPOB meeting ground and “started shooting sporadically which consumed lives of 21 members and 47 arrested for just no cause or provocation”.
The group described as ‘laughable’ claims by security operatives that it lost its personnel during the incident. “It is clear to all that IPOB doesn’t carry arms,” it said.
The group, however declared that it would no longer keep quiet in the face of aggression. “We must warn and put the whole world on notice that Nigerian Government and her security operatives should stop killing our people because we are A peaceful organisation with the mandate of restoring Biafra sovereignty within shortest period. This rampant killing of innocent members of IPOB will be reciprocated in due cause.
Powerful insisted that IPOB` remained committed to a violence-free Biafra campaign despite violent crackdown on its members. “We are not a violent group and there is nothing they can do to change our resolve to maintain peace and order in our land. IPOB is a peaceful movement and we must remain so till Biafra is totally achieved.
