Court Remands Teenager In Kiri-Kiri For Defiling Neighbour’s 3 Daughters

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, ordered that a 19-year-old man, Ismaila Mustapha, be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre, over alleged defilement of his neighbour’s three daughters.

The police charged Mustapha, who resides in Agege with defilement.

However, the court did not take Mustapha’s plea following the motion by the prosecutor, ASP Bisi Ogunleye, that the matter should be referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje, ordered for Mustapha’s remand in Kirikiri Correctional Centre and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the case file to the DPP for advice.

Kubeinje adjourned the case until September 9 for mention.

Ogunleye told the court that Mustapha committed the offence sometime in March at his residence. He alleged that Mustapha defiled three sisters.

The offence, Ogunleye said, contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2015, which attracts life imprisonment if he is found guilty. (NAN)

My Wife After My Life, Divorce-Seeking Man Tells Court

A barber, Toheeb Shafiu, on Wednesday, dragged his wife, Fatimo, before a Ile-Tuntun Customary Court in Ibadan, seeking divorce on grounds that she was threatening to attack him with a machete.

Shafiu, who resides in Beyerunka area in Ibadan, said: “I am better off living alone than dead. Fatimo has been after my life since I impregnated another girl that I dated before I married her. She has made attempts on my life with a machete. She attacked me on a number of occasions with broken bottles. I am not safe anymore living under the same roof with her. She destroyed my belongings and curses me at will,” Shafiu alleged.

Fatimo, who opposed the prayer for divorce, refused to comment on the allegations leveled against her. She, instead, submitted that her husband was an unrepentant cheat.

“Shafiu lied to me that he was not seeing the woman he got pregnant. I later discovered that he kept her in his parent’s home. As a result, he came home only when he feels like. When I challenged him, he beats me,” she alleged.

Delivering a ruling, Chief Henry Agbaje, the court’s president advised the couple to maintain peace.

Agbaje called for more evidence to support their claims. He requested both parties to produce their relatives, and adjourned the matter until August 31 for judgment. (NAN)

*DOMINION MANDATE DAILY DEVOTIONAL*

*ASSOCIATION INFLUENCES YOUR LIFE*

*BIBLE READING: 2 SAMUEL 3:1-33*

*“Do not be misled, Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15: 33 (NIV).*

Association transfers covenant. It plays a major role in building and determining the character of an individual. Therefore it is important that one is careful while choosing his/her company because who you company with determines what accompanies you.

George Washington rightly said “it is better to live alone than to be in a bad company.” Wrong associations will always attract wrong things into your life and will also fan the flames of your weaknesses, while good associations will help uphold the areas of your strength and facilitate your movement in destiny. Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are.

Your friend is a prophecy of your future. As you pursue your course in life, it is important that you be able to separate from the ‘Jonadabs’ and also identify and connect with the ‘Jonathans’ of your destiny. Your Jonathans will teach you the workings of royalty, but Jonadab will only show you the way to defilement as seen in our Bible Reading today.

Friendship is not by force, but by choice. Don’t let the wrong company destroy the glorious future that God has packaged for you. Re-examine your company today and check how far it has affected you either positively or negatively. Wisdom is contagious, so is foolishness, choose to walk with the wise.

*PRAYER
Help me dear Lord to identify and disconnect from any association that will ruin my life and relationship with you. Help me to choose friends who will influence me to become better in life in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lyrics :What is your perception about the Youth and Agriculture?

Hon.Michael: There are two kinds of youth.there are youth that live in the rural areas and there are youths that live in urban areas. The youth in rural areas participate in the Production part of Agriculture but the youth in the urban areas mostly do not participate in agriculture. All am saying in essence is that agriculture is a location base something.

Female:What is your interest in agriculture?, what motivated you to go into Agriculture?

Hon Michael: My interest in Agriculture is from the Policy Stand Point.I saw that we had all the egg heads in agriculture, we had all the researches and all the documents that would move the agricultural sector of our country forward but I saw little implementation and I saw what the problem was ; was taking what you have on paper and applying it in the field. In Essence I would say we are not self sustenance.

Female: Do you think the government have a role to play?.

Hon Michael: well the Government should give direction to the people and create policies that would enable to do things in certain a way and create opportunities for people to understand the essence of Agriculture as a business.

Lyrics: Will you say that the government is doing enough to inform us about the Loans and Grants. Especially for people who are beginners?.

Hon Michael:The government is informing the people but what I have noticed is that when the youth go into the internet they are more interested in all the glams.I have seen that the youth are more focused on Quick Money, they always want something glamorous.
You cant just stand and say you want to go into Agriculture,Then go for loan immediately , you need to calm down and learn from someone who has been into it , “I ga agba boy”Because if you don’t do that if its fishery you went into within one month the fishes will die and you must pay back your loan.

Talking about the Agricultural Value Chain. WE HAVE the Production,Processing,,Packaging, And the Marketing. And when you tell these Urban Youths to go into agriculture what comes up in there is the Production I.e the Cultivation. The urban youth want to come into the production part but they can come into the processing part, they can come into the Marketing Part.

Callers and comment
Questonaire 1: Is government looking at using technology to bridge the processing of agro Products so as to ensure that we have an all year round supply and stable pricing?.

Hon Michael: Yea if you don’t innovate you will die and our technology is at the heart innovation. The government is currently in partnership with the federal government working on innovation at ADANI so we can have three (3) times farming for rice. We already innovating we are already using technology.

Lyrics: What are the opportunities for someone who has listened to us talk. E no geh money but im geh small skill

Hon.Michael: The opportunity is right there behind you. It all depends on the part of state you are from. lets say someone from nsukka , you already know that you guys deal on honey. So you can just start up honey business repackage your brand. Go to supermarkets and sample your goods(i.e honey).

Caller 1:which of the communities in Enugu State is government creating an environment to encourage farmers?.

Hon.Michael:We have the Office of APPEALS, Behind Fire service Otigba,If you think you have a farm that needs some support then you go to the APPEALS.you apply there so you can get support.

The government of various states has an important role to play in ensuring the effective domestication of the efforts of the federal government and encouraging and supporting youths in their states to embrace the various opportunities provided them by agriculture.

These include the resuscitation of the Nigerian Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), the Anchor Borrowers’ Scheme, N-Power Agro amongst others.

In a desperate bid to salvage the dwindling fortunes of the country and to cater for its teeming unemployed youth population, the federal government Nigeria rolled out various programs and policies aimed at transforming the agricultural sector.

The fall of the global oil prices has indeed left a huge blow on the economic fortunes of the country and this has compelled the government at the centre to explore ways of diversifying the Nigerian economy.

Agriculture has remained a major driver of the economies of developing countries, Nigeria inclusive. Agriculture was dominantly the mainstay of the Nigerian economy before the advent of oil.
