Cultists Invade MTN Office In Bayelsa, Kill Customer

The murdered customer, who was identified as Victor Abasii, was a native of Ogu town in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state. He was 28y ears old.

Hundreds of armed cult members on Monday invaded the commercial office of the telecom giant, MTN, along the DSP Alamieyeseigha Way in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, killing a customer who was alleged to be a rival cult member.

The murdered customer, who was identified as Victor Abasii, was a native of Ogu town in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state. He was 28y ears old.

According to sources, the incident occurred at about 3 pm, and the deceased was reportedly placed on the wanted list by the members of the rival cult group known as Greenlanders over his alleged involvement in a bloody clash in Swali area of the state capital early in the year.

An eyewitness told Leadership that the deceased had almost finished with his documentation on sim card validation at the MTN office when armed rivals invaded the office and chased after him.

"He was gentle and had a dread hairstyle. Suddenly we noticed armed boys invaded the MTN office and we took to our heels. The deceased jumped out and scaled the fence. But the suspected cultists went after him and descended on him with various dangerous weapons," an eyewitness said.

It was later gathered that the deceased was a suspected member of the group known as Bobos.

Already, the killing of Victor Abasi has snowballed into a fight between the Greenlanders and Bobos in Amarata, Ekeki, Swali and other areas of the state capital.

A resident of Imgbi Road, who pleaded anonymity, claimed that armed Bobos invaded the area on Monday night in search of a rival group. "They said some cult group killed their "senior man" and they are out to retaliate".

It would be recalled that a rival cult group located at Tombia axis and Amarata had in the last few days engaged in bloody clashes over revenue collection, rivalry and the battle for supremacy.

Judge Dismisses Trump Request To Stop Counting Philadelphia Ballots

A federal judge reportedly dismissed an emergency injunction Thursday evening brought by the Trump campaign that afternoon to stop the counting of votes in Philadelphia that claimed election workers ignored an earlier court ruling over election observers.

The Philadelphia County’s Board of Elections is “intentionally refusing to allow any representatives and poll watchers for President Trump and the Republican Party,” Trump’s legal team said, referring to a decision earlier in the day that said more election observers could watch the votes being counted.

U.S. District Judge Paul Diamond, a George W. Bush appointee, dismissed the request by saying, “As stated during today’s emergency injunction hearing, in light of the parties’ agreement, plaintiff’s motion is denied without prejudice," Reuters reported.

Diamond said the Trump campaign admitted its observers had been allowed to witness the counting but alleged it had not been given equal access as Democrats. He urged both parties to come to an agreement and they eventually decided on 60 observers for both sides, according to WHYY-TV in Philadelphia.

"The federal court denied the Trump campaign's motion," the Philadelphia City Commissioners said in a statement after the ruling, WPTI-TV in Philadelphia reported. "The City Board of Elections agreed to keep the barrier for all observers where it is - at 6 feet for now, and to continue to admit observers in compliance with the law, but no more than 60 per side. The President and his campaign representatives had falsely claimed throughout the day that their representatives were not allowed in the room. But their counsel admitted at the hearing, after questions from the court, that they had several representatives in the room."

The Trump campaign has not yet responded to Fox News after-hours request for comment.

Joe Biden Takes 5,587-vote Lead Over Donald Trump In Pennsylvania

The Democratic challenger took the lead in the key battleground state by 5,587 votes on Friday morning after trailing the president since Election Day.

Prior to the latest results in Pennsylvania, Mr Biden was behind Mr Trump in the state by about 18,000 votes. He then brought in an additional 27,396 votes to the 3,760 votes for Mr Trump in the latest batch tabulated.

Pennsylvania holds 20 Electoral College votes, a prize for either candidate to win. If Mr Biden’s lead holds, the 20 Electoral College votes will put him over the 270 needed to take the White House - making him the 46th President of the United States.

The Associated Press has not yet called the state for Mr Biden.

Robbers Raid Hotel Close To Edo Government House

Robbers raid hotel close to Edo Govt House

Daredevil robbers struck again in the Government Reserved Area of Benin and robbed a hotel, which is less than 500 metres away from the Edo State Government House.

About 13 lodgers and workers of the hotel were dispossessed of their belongings, while the manager was critically injured and is receiving treatment in a private hospital.

The hotel also shares a fence with the residence of some personnel of the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.

After the #endsars protests, which led to two jailbreaks with over 1,800 inmates still at large, the residents have been left at the mercy of robbers, as the men of the state police command have yet to take over the public space as directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

A victim of the robbery, who was a guest in the hotel, said the robbers had a field day as they moved from one room to another, tied their victims and stole valuables, food and drinks.

The victim stated, “The incident happened around 3am on Wednesday. The robbers spent over one hour moving from one room to the other. They came in immediately after the public light went off.

“They first pounced on the security man, who was going to put on the generator; they tied him to the generator and went to the reception before proceeding to the office of the accountant, who they forced to lead them to each of the rooms, ransacked and took everything from us, including our phones, money and other valuables.

“They were six in number and four of them carried guns, while the others carried machetes, which they used on the manager of the hotel, who is currently hospitalised.

“The robbers also went away with all the cooked food in the kitchen and took all the drinks in the freezers, leaving only water. They tied everybody’s hands and legs, and also had time to drink some of the beers and took the remaining ones and the food into an SUV owned by a guest, and went away with the vehicle.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, said police personnel would soon be back on the streets.

“The Inspector-General of Police visited us yesterday (Wednesday) and he has energised the men, and apart from the IG, Governor Godwin Obaseki has equally energised the men; so, very soon, you will see that action will start.”
