Adam Albani: "President Buhari Is Incompetent & Useless" - Islamic Cleric (Video

The media space has been set abuzz following the surfacing of a video showing an Islamic cleric by the name Adam Albani vituperating the President Muhammadu Buhari led government for gross incompetence and the hardship it has caused the generality of Nigerians in recent memory.

The viral video, which was posted by SaharaReporters, shows the cleric passionately excoriating the government over its failure to make good on it’s responsibilities to the Nigerian citizenry.

In the video, the cleric labeled the president as ‘incompetent’ and demanded his immediate resignation in view of the President’s call for former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to resign when the country was mired in a quagmire of insecurity during the latter’s presidency.

He said: “Was it not you who told Jonathan to resign because there was insecurity in the land? Will you also not resign because of your incompetence”?

“What is our benefit as citizens? No peace, no unity. The state you are from, they are cursing you.

They are saying may Allah curse you because you are useless in their eyes”.

“What is the benefit of your presidency or that you are commander-in-chief of the armed forces? May your kind be purged from the land”

“What sort of situation is this? If we talk we are arrested and detained. Anyone who attempts it, may he be cursed.

“To be honest, no one can save us from this mess if not Allah. The president is incompetent. The governors are incompetent. The lawmakers have failed. Making fake laws and deceiving the people and stealing from them”.

The cleric, who spoke in his native Hausa, towards the end of his verbal tirade switched to English when he questioned, “What kind of leadership do we have in Nigeria”?

BBNaija's Erica Vs Super Eagles’ Siasia: Is The Labour Of Our Heroes Now In Vain?

Nigerians gave evicted Big Brother Nigeria housemate, Erica, in one day what they couldn’t give former Super Eagles forward and coach, Samson Siasia, in one year.

Does the life of any former Nigerian international matter to Nigerians?
The answer is probably a big no if what has transpired on Gofundme, the free online fundraiser platform in the last 24 hours is anything to go by.

A certain Ehizode Irefo is organizing a fundraiser on behalf of Isioma Anumele, the star of BBNaija season 5, Lockdown edition whose journey on the show came to an emotional end – To realize some of her hopes and aspirations.

Within 24 hours, Nigerians donated $15,943 of the $100,000 targetted, for Erica. This is in sharp contrast to what Nigerians gave former Super Eagles player and coach, Siasia, a paltry $605 raised of $250,000 target after he appealed for help to clear his name following the life ban slammed on him by FIFA for allegedly ‘agreeing to collect bribe’ in relation to a football match.

This allegation was not proven, but Siasia was banned for life because he was unable to defend himself due to missing the communication from FIFA, not because he was found guilty of any wrongdoing.

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) accepted an appeal from Siasia on FIFA’s ruling where the former international intends to provide a robust defence of his innocence.

Manchester United Features Dj Cuppy In New Jersey Ad

Disc jockey and singer Dj Cuppy has been unveiled as part of Manchester United’s new jersey campaign advert.

The English football club Manchester United on Tuesday unveiled their third kit for the 2020-2021 season.

The new design is by sports kit giant Adidas and it makes use of creative black and white stripes with red detailing.

Cuppy was featured in the ad for the jersey alongside South London rapper Sam Wise and social media personality, Harry Pinero.

An excited Cuppy took to her Twitter page where she shared a video of the ad:

“As @ManUtd fan, I’m PROUD to be a part of their official jersey campaign! READY FOR THE NOISE!” She said.

REVEAL! As @ManUtd fan, I’m PROUD to be a part of their official jersey campaign! ⚽️ READY FOR THE NOISE! #ggmu

This is coming barely three months after Cuppy ditched her former football club Arsenal. The “Jollof On The Jet” singer’s exit from the club came after the Gunners suffered a 2-1 defeat against Brighton in the Premier League.

She chose to pitch her tent with Manchester United on the condition that Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo scores against Norwich City in the FA Cup.

“As a Nigerian I think it’s only right that if Odion Ighalo scores a goal today… I will officially join Manchester United as a fan,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Burna Boy also received the new jersey.

Edo Election: Obaseki Misused His Chances For Re-Election- Ize-Iyamu

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the Edo Governorship election says Gov. Godwin Obaseki has toyed with his chances for re-election by failing to keep to his electoral promises.

Ize-Iyamu made the assertion on Monday, during his ward-to-ward campaign at Ogwa, Esan West and Amahor, Igueben Local Government Areas of the state.

He said Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), missed his chances of reelection when he betrayed the trust of people of the state.

He said it was because the governor could not give account of his stewardship to Edo people that he decided to cross-carpet to PDP where he felt he would not be held accountable for his actions.

“‘The governor did nothing for Edo people for almost four years and does not deserve a second term because he will also not work for the people,” he said, urging the electorate to vote massively for APC to restore Edo to the path of development.

“We will bring more roads and employ teachers in your schools.

“In the area of Manpower development, our women need more than wrappers, they need money to support their businesses,” Ize-Iyamu said.

At Udo, Igueben council, he promised to construct the road linking the community to Igueben town.

In his remarks, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo, said he withdrew his support for Obaseki because he failed to continue with the upgrade of infrastructure he met on ground.

Oshiomhole said Obaseki could not deliver the dividends of democracy to Edo people, a promise the Governor made during his electioneering campaign in 2016.

“Today, you are complaining of lack of good roads, no teachers, no water because he failed to continue with my work.” (NAN)

Ebonyi 2023: ADC Strategizes To Sack PDP

African Democratic Congress(ADC), Ebonyi state, Monday said the party was repositioning itself with a view to sack PDP in Ebonyi state and APC at the federal level and bring good governance to the people in 2023.
Ndubuisi Moses state Director of ADC Ambassadors, stated this during the party’s meeting in Abakaliki.

He said the bad leadership imposed on the country by APC at the federal level and PDP at state level can no longer be condoned by the masses.
“ADC being the third leading party in Nigeria has been in good form and we are trying to make sure we transform the nation.

“With the force we are coming in and with my own forum in Ebonyi state, the people will embrace the party. We are winning 2023 governorship election of Ebonyi state and presidency. We are fully prepared and our structures are on ground to ensure we emerge victorious in future elections. We will sack APC at the federal level and PDP here in Ebonyi state.

“ADC is not a new party. We have members in House of Assembly, we have members in the House of Reps to show that ADC is not a new party. We are not just coming up now, we have structures in the whole states of the federation. We have all it takes to take Nigeria to the next level”, he said.

Mr. Ndubuisi accused the federal government of inflicting hardship on the masses by increasing the price of petroleum in the country.

“One of the problems in this country is that leaders fail to take things into consideration before taking certain actions that affect the masses. Increasing the price of fuel will cause hardship in the country”, Moses stated.

Anambra Ministry Of Education Approves Gradual Reopening Of Schools

The Ministry of Basic Education in Anambra has approved gradual reopening of schools in the state, in line with the ministry’s approved timetable for the completion of the 2019/2020 academic session.

The ministry urged parents to provide their children and wards with hand sanitisers and face masks to ensure their safety.
It also charged the managements of the schools to respect all the COVID-19 precautionary measures put in place to contain the spread of the deadly pandemic with the resumption of schools.
The ministry promised to publish a schedule for the state-organised examinations.

Saudi Arabia Commutes Death Sentences For Khashoggi Killers

Saudi Arabia has sentenced five people to 20 years in prison for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey, replacing death sentences issued in 2019.

Khashoggi was killed after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2, 2018.

Saudi Arabia enforces basic Islamic laws, which allow a death penalty to be commuted if a murder victim’s family has forgiven the killers or accepted a payment, known as “diya” in Arabic.

Monday’s commuted sentences come after the sons of Khashoggi said in May they had forgiven their father’s killers.

These are the final verdicts and were issued after the “relatives of the deceased dropped their legal right,” the kingdom’s top prosecutor said in a statement on Monday.

Three others were also convicted in the case, and were sentenced to between seven and 10 years in jail.

Turkey claims Khashoggi was murdered by a Saudi hit squad and his body was dismembered after he entered the consulate to obtain paperwork to marry Hatice Cengiz, who was waiting for him outside.

Saudi Arabia has repeatedly said that the Washington Post columnist’s death was a “rogue operation” and denied that powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, widely viewed as the kingdom’s de facto ruler, was involved.

Khashoggi was once close to the Saudi royal family but became a vocal critic of Mohammed. His remains were never found. (dpa/NAN)

Fire Destroys 8 Vehicles, 10 Shops At Bayelsa Mechanic Village

An early morning inferno on Sunday at the Bayelsa Mechanic Village destroyed eight parked vehicles and 10 shops, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

It was gathered that the fire incident started at about 3.00 am on Sunday but was put out by men of the fire service who responded to a distress call.

Mr Denis Ekiyor who resides at Imiringi road, off Tombia roundabout told NAN on Monday that the timely intervention of firemen prevented the fire from escalating.

“The fire incident was nipped early enough; the fire service battled to contain it and 10 shops were affected, some cars parked were also burnt and there are 10 of them.

“There was nobody there when the fire started, so it did not affect any human life,” Ekiyor stated.

Mr Mike Okoli, Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa told NAN in a telephone interview that investigation was underway.

Okoli said he had visited the scene and assured the victims and traders that the Police would ensure security of their property while investigation continued.

“The Deputy Governor of the state was also there earlier to show concern, empathy and support to the victims”, he said. (NAN)
