IGP Adamu Reacts To Stripping Of Hotel Staff, Vows To Get Justice For Victims

The Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu has called on members of the public and all parties particularly interest groups and four employees of the Signatious Hotel, Warri, Delta State who were allegedly stripped by the management to remain calm, Igbere TV reports.

The hotel’s chairman Kenneth Gbagi, a former minister of state for education, was alleged to have ordered that the workers – three women and a man – be stripped naked over theft allegations.

In a statement posted on Twitter on Friday, the IGP said he would ensure justice, calling for patience as the police investigate the case.

The statement read: “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni has called on members of the public, particularly the alleged victims and all interest groups in the ongoing Police investigations into the case of dehumanizing treatment on the Signatious Hotel Staff in Warri, Delta State, to remain calm as the Police intensify efforts towards unravelling the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The IGP, while noting that the Delta State Police Command has since commenced discrete investigations into the matter with appreciable progress made, assures that justice will prevail no matter whose ox is gored.”

Igbere TV reports that several human rights organisations have protested against the alleged treatment of the hotel workers, accusing the police of conniving with the hotel management to carry out the act.

Mr Gbagi, however, denied giving the order

Lagos East Bye-Election: APC's Tokunbo Abiru Campaigns In Ikorodu

Ikorodu: What a Colourful Day

It was a gracious and colourful homecoming in Ikorodu today. I am sincerely overwhelmed with the unity of purpose and I accept with all sense of humility the ”unifier” toga placed on my shoulder

The mandate before us is to lead the pack by setting an enviable stand with our votes come October 31, 2020.

Since the time of Senators Justice M.A.O Abiru (RIP), Jimoh Ogidan (RIP), Anthony Adefuye, Adeseye Ogunlewe, Olorunnimbe Mamora, Gbenga Ashafa and
Adebayo Osinowo (RIP), Ikorodu and indeed Lagos East have always voted for the progressive party.

In the coming bye-election, I will be counting on our tradition of progressive forthrightness to bring to bear my plans, if by God’s grace I am elected as a Senator.4/6
I shall focus on legislations that support SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) 1, 3, 4 and 8, which are Eradication of Poverty, Good Health and Wellbeing, Quality Education and Decent Work and Economic Growth. These are the areas that I will work really
hard on for the good people of Lagos East using the combination of my Private and Public Sector experiences and network.

I implore us to not only come out massively to vote as a people but to canvass and encourage others to do so

I thank everyone, who took out time to join us at Ikorodu Town Hall today. I pray we all have a reason to glorify God at the end of the campaign. Amen.

Hope Uzodinma: Those Calling Me ‘Supreme Court Governor’ Are Ignorant

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has faulted those referring to him as a “Supreme Court Governor”, saying that they are ignorant.

He spoke on Channels Television’s Hard Copy programme monitored by our correspondent on Friday.
The governor explained that he emerged through a legitimate means, adding that he was not the first to be favoured by a Supreme Court judgement.

Asked how he feels when people call him a Supreme Court governor, Uzodinma said, “It is the height of ignorance because they don’t know what they are saying. There is a reason for the Supreme Court. In the doctrine and principle of democracy, the law expected that there would be grievances and malpractices in the electoral process.

“When this happens, the only legitimate right you have is to seek redress at the court. And of course, the court determines. Remember that this is not the first time, so many elections had held where the candidates went to court and they got justice. So, why will mine be different?

“Human beings voted and the votes were not counted. I went to the Supreme Court and INEC was unable to explain why they did not enter the result. It was a simple judgment. The Supreme Court said INEC was wrong.”

The apex court had, on January 14, removed Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party on the ground that he did not score the lawful majority votes in the Imo governorship race.

The court said it arrived at that decision after adding votes scored by Uzodinma in 388 polling units, which showed that he won the race.

It subsequently declared Uzodinma the winner of the election and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to give him a Certificate of Return as elected Imo governor.

Ihedioha, however, returned to the Supreme Court with a view to seeking a review of the judgement that removed him from office but failed.

Edo: Oshiomole Blew It All Away - Oke Umurhohwo

By the evening of Sunday, September 20, 2020, the ballots count had ended, and the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), wasted no time in announcing the result. According to INEC, Godwin Obaseki, the incumbent governor, polled 307,955 votes to beat his closest rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who got 223,619 votes.

This outcome renewed the mandate of Obaseki for the next four years and expectedly, triggered varying reactions in Edo state and across the country. Just like the election, celebrations and criticisms are dependent on the side of the divides, causing sentiments and emotions to flow freely.

What just happened? That question rang like a bell in the mind of political observers, many of who least expected the outcome of the poll. While Obaseki secured a fresh term as Edo governor, something big had happened, and in the process, altered the political configuration of Edo state.

It was not unexpected, but the timing and how it happened is what must have caused a sensation. The re-election of Obaseki pointed to one thing– and that is the depletion of Oshiomole’s relevance in the scheme of things in the state.

Before that election, Oshiomole was seen as the ‘kingmaker’, who dictate the political direction of Edo state, and without his blessing and backing, becoming a governor or holding any other political office in the state, would be a herculean task. So, when he withdrew support for Obaseki and queued behind Ize-Iyamu, some presumed it was game over and that the outcome would produce a new governor for the state.

But that didn’t happen, and without much prompting, the Edo electorates put a final seal on the political fortune of Oshiomole and left him with nothing. Edo is not Lagos sentiment pushed Oshiomole to the brink, and he could not withstand the defiance of a multitude of electorates, who resoundingly opted for freedom. Before that election, Oshiomole’s political fortune had dwindled, and winning Edo state for Ize-Iyamu could have offered a reprieve, but that didn’t happen.

Well, Oshiomole has himself to blame for the outcome he got. The signs were there for some time now, but typical of people oblivious to the ephemeral nature of power, Oshiomole failed to read the mood of things properly, or perhaps, as some people have insinuated, allowed himself to be pushed to the extent that he blew everything away. Yes, Oshiomole is left empty, just like the first time he joined politics.

Whether in his home state or elsewhere, Oshiomole’s influence has nosedived significantly, and the huge goodwill he enjoyed over the years, seemed fast gone. The problem, as several events in the past have shown, is his high-handedness and insatiable lust for control, most of the time, for personal benefits and to massage his ego.

All these were enough motivation for resistance, and before you know it, Oshiomole turned an aging fighter who has lost touch but keeps flailing away while his opponents easily throw punches. This is evident in the manner in which he was unceremoniously sent packing as the National Chairman of APC, and with the outcome of the Edo governorship election, he could no longer be a godfather.

If there was any good news in how things turned out for Oshiomole, it would be the valuable lesson on the transient nature of power and how no human should play ‘god’ in the face of other people. That was the impression that the disqualification of Obaseki in the APC’s primary suggested, and the subsequent moves from Oshiomole, including that of a former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who went as far as to canvass against the governor’s re-election in a viral video, gave to the public.

As things now look, Edo did not only decide who govern them for the next four years, they made an even important choice– and that is saying no to godfatherism. In 2016, Oshiomole was able to maneuver his way and get the electorates to agree to his choice, but as the just concluded governorship election showed, they resoundingly say no this time, leaving the former governor empty handed. A sad turn for him!

Seven Policemen, Three Soldiers Killed As Boko Haram Terrorists Attack Borno Governor, Zulum’s Convoy

The convoy of Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State was again attacked on Friday by Boko Haram terrorists along the Baga Highway in the Northern part of the state.

The convoy was heading to Baga town ahead of government’s planned return of internally displaced persons from Maiduguri when the incident happened.

The attack comes barely two months after Zulum was attacked around the same axis by the insurgents on his way from Baga.

The area is believed to be dangerous and has recorded many abductions by the terrorist group in recent times.

A splinter group of Boko Haram sect, the Islamic State of West Africa Province, is believed to have a stronghold in the area.

Though SaharaReporters gathered that the governor was not part of the convoy as he travelled by helicopter but about three soldiers, seven policemen were killed while an unverified number of people were injured.

The attack, it was learnt, happened at about 12pm some kilometers away from the Multinational Joint Task Force headquarters in Baga.

*DOMINION MANDATE DAILY DEVOTIONAL*

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2020

*THE UNTOUCHABLES*

*BIBLE READING: ISAIAH 60:2; PSALM 91; PRO.18:10; REV. 12:11*

*And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. Revelation 6:6(KJV).*

In these last days, there is going to be an increase of hostile events that are inevitable as prophesied in the Bible: political turmoil, economic unsettlement, redefinition of terms, experimentation with social norms, changes in the status quo, global governance agenda, outbreak of epidemics and the list goes on.

The world is experiencing unrest more than ever at different spheres of human endeavours. As a result, hopelessness, doubt, and fear, have gripped the land. Many people, including some believers no longer believe in God and in the saving power of His Word; but only those who do know their God shall be strong and do exploits.

In all of these however, it is paramount to note that we are not left unprotected. There is an insurance scheme from Heaven for all of God's people, a strong security that exempts us from being victims and makes us untouchable.

There is a directive and injunction to hell and all of its cohorts that pioneer these activities to hurt none of God's elect as seen in our key text; "...hurt not the oil and the wine" is the specific instruction given to the devil(Rev. 6:6).

The "Oil" represents God's anointed, while the "Wine" represents those redeemed by the blood of Jesus. And these two groups of people are believers. Thus, as a child of God, you are covered; there is no cause for alarm.

Just know that in Christ, you are secure from the programmes of the adversary and enforce your authority. Be rest assured that you are in a place of safety because of the Blood of Jesus, and the Name of Jesus as you abide in Christ.

There is no better time to be in Christ than now, for that is the only sure way to avert the inevitable evil of these last days.

*PRAYER
Father, I thank You for writing my name in the book of life from where I am named a beneficiary of Your love, and security in these last days. I am grateful Lord. I pray for those who are still outside of Your eternal protection to receive the light of Your saving grace today as we go out to reach them in Jesus name. Amen.

Barcelona: "Nothing surprises me anymore" Messi laments Suarez exit

FC Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi has again taken a swipe via Instagram, at the Club Management in his emotional farewell message to former teammate, Luis Suarez.

Messi had last month reluctantly agreed to see off his contract, after feeling that he had been lied to by Club President, Joseph Bartomeu.

Luis Suarez joined Atletico Madrid for 6 million euros in variables after deemed surplus to requirements under new Barcelona boss, Ronald Koeman.

The Uruguayan is the third highest goalscorer in the club's history with 198 goals in 283 games.

I had already began to imagine it but today I went into the dressing room and it dawned on me. It's going to be so difficult to not continue to share every every day with you both on the pitches and away from them. We're going to miss you so much.

We spent many years together, drunk many mates, had many lunches and many dinners. So many things we will never forget, all the time we spent together. It will be strange to see you in another shirt and much more to come up against you on the pitch. You deserved a farewell that fits with who you are: One of the most important players in the history of this football club.

Someone who achieved great things for the team and on an individual level. You did not deserve for them to throw you out like they did, but the truth is that, at this point, nothing surprises me anymore.

I wish you all the best in this new challenge. I love you very much.
See you soon friend.
