*DOMINION MANDATE DAILY DEVOTIONAL*

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2020

*LIVING READY*

*BIBLE READING:LUKE 21:6-36*

*Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Matthew 24:43-44(KJV).*

A bride to be (knowing who her husband is) prepares herself for the time (usually a fixed date) when the bridegroom will come to collect her from her father's house and take her to his.

Jesus Christ our Bridegroom, after His resurrection, promised that He would come back for us, having left to go and prepare a place for us as written in John 14:2-3(KJV); *In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.*

Knowing that we have been promised by Christ Jesus that He will receive us to Himself, what kind of life should we live? How should we behave? 2 Corinthians 7:1(KJV) says, *Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.*

How ready will you be when the Lord Jesus finally comes for us? Will you be wallowing in sin when you should be cleaning and beautifying yourself for the Groom? No groom wants to meet his bride in an unclean state, it automatically puts him off but when the groom comes and sees his bride so beautiful and expectant for him, he becomes joyous over such bride. Luke 21:34(NKJV) says; *But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.*

The Bible recommends that we should always be on the alert, waiting and expecting the return of Christ. If we are vigilant, it will show in our relationship with God and men. We would be more sensitive and not follow the ways of the world. 1 Thessalonians 5:4‭-‬6(KJV); *But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.* Luke 21:36(KJV); *Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.*

As wise people, having the word of God already showing us how we must live and what to look out for, we ought to have understanding and keep our garments white and unstained. Daniel 12:9‭-‬10(KJV) says; *And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.*

It is necessary that we live ready as we will have to stand before God and give account of our lives to Him. 2 Corinthians 5:10(KJV); *For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.*

*PRAYER
•Ask God for mercy for not living according to the values of His kingdom.

•Ask for a cleansing and sanctification from every work of the flesh.

•Pray that your garments will always be white and your head will not lack oil.

Proposed Strike: FG, Labour Parley Ends On Inconclusive Note

The meeting between the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, the Trade Union Congress, Nigeria Labour Congress and members of the Nigerian Governors Forum to avert the proposed strike slated for September 28, has just ended on an inconclusive note.

After much deliberations, both arms of Labour agreed that the meeting be adjourned till Monday next week to enable the Executives consult with their various organs.

But Ngige believes the meeting was successful and that the strike would be averted.

He told reporters shortly after Thursday’s meeting which held at the Banquet Hall of the State House that government has agreed to a proposal to make provision for palliatives to cushion the effects of the increment in fuel and electricity hike.

Ngige said: “Fruitful meeting. They are going back to their organs. When they consult their organs tomorrow, next tomorrow maybe they will take a new decision.

“We have requested them to shelve the strike. We have appealed to them to shelve the strike.”

“The government side agreed proposals with them on the palliative to cushion the effect of the rise in petroleum products and electricity.”

“The meeting agreed to adjourn to Monday, 3pm we had a fruitful discussion”.

Recall that Labour had settled for an industrial action on September 28,2020 after ratification by the National Executive Council.

While faulting the timing of the increment, they had requested the government to fix the ailing refineries so as to reduce the burden of importation on the country.

They had also bemoaned that the recent increases were ploys to erode the gains of the N30,000 minimum wage recently approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Armed Security Officers Stop Striking Ojukwu University Lecturers From Meeting

There was drama Thursday at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, COOU, Igbariam, Anambra State yesterday as gun-wielding security men from the institution’s anti-cultism outfit chased away lecturers of the institution, preventing them from holding a scheduled meeting.

The lecturers under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) recently dissociated themselves from the planned reopening of the institution by its management, a development that irked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Greg Nwakoby.

ASUU in the institution, led by Prof Alphonsus Aniebo and the zonal coordinator of the group, in Owerri Zone, Dr Uzo Onyebinama had made to commence a meeting at the congress hall of the university, when gun-wielding security men from the institution’s anti-cult outfit stopped them, asking all members of the group to leave.

The group left the hall and converged under a mango tree in the institution, but were also stopped from meeting but they insisted.

The immediate past coordinator of ASUU, Owerri zone, Prof Ike Odumegwu who spoke to journalists said, “the security men said they were instructed by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Greg Nwakoby not to let the group hold its meeting within the institution.

“We have never been treated this way before. How can the Vice-Chancellor send security men to stop us from meeting? They shut the door against us and asked everyone out of the hall as if we were common criminals.”

Prof Alphonsus Aniebo, chairman of ASUU in the institution said, “I have been queried because of this strike and this is geared towards terminating my appointment in this university

“It is very unfortunate. This union made a lot of sacrifices, we have been key to the struggles here. We will not be intimidated. In this university, there is no budget monitoring fund. TETFUND and NEEDS are products of ASUU struggles, but the VC is bent on killing the university because he has just three years to leave.

“The university wants us to break a national strike, but we have said we will not. We will keep following the national body of ASUU because every achievement he has here has been as a result of ASUU struggle,” he said.

Chairman of the Owerri zone of ASUU, Dr Uzo Onyebinama condemned the action of the Vice-Chancellor, refuting claims that the lecturers had no reason to go on strikes because they are not captured in the controversial IPPIS payment model.

“Let me tell you, our struggle has been on, for a number of reasons before the Federal Government brought in IPPIS. For the vice-chancellor to claim that IPPIS is the sole reason for the strike shows that he is not well informed.”

Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof Greg Nwakoby had days back stated that academic activities will continue in the institution. He stated that out of over 600 lecturers in the university, only a few were embarking on the strike.

Sanwo-Olu Commissions 7 Roads In Oniru-victoria Island Axis (Photos)

It is a huge traffic relief for residents and road users around Iru and Victoria Island axes of Lagos State. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, commissioned Victoria Island-Lekki Traffic Circulation Project in which seven gridlock-prone roads were completely re-designed and re-constructed with concrete slabs.

The improved roads are within the commercial areas of Iru and Victoria Island. The Victoria Island-Lekki Traffic Circulation Project was delivered through the Public Infrastructure Improvement Partnership (PIIP) framework, under which the State Government collaborated with Access Bank Plc and Planet Projects Limited to bring the project to reality.

Last December, Sanwo-Olu flagged off the construction of the roads, which were notorious for heavy traffic congestion that affected the growth of businesses and reduced productivity.

Cutting the ribbon to officially declared the roads open for public use on Thursday, the Governor said it was another promise fulfilled by his administration in its traffic improvement programmes. He said the improvement and re-construction work done on the roads had enhanced road connectivity and traffic flow on the axis. Sanwo-Olu added that the project had also reduced travel time for commuters, eliminated perennial flooding hitherto experienced in the area, and boosted intermodal transportation. He said: “One of the critical challenges experienced by residents and road users along this axis was the heavy traffic congestion occasioned by the geometric increase in traffic volume, which led to a significant reduction in productivity and growth business activities in this highly commercial location. As Government, we resolved to work in partnership with public-spirited corporate organisations to embark on the road improvement project. This project was executed through the Public Infrastructure Improvement Partnership (PIIP) arrangement.

“Today, I have the pleasure to hand over these improved roads to users and residents. This project has led to an improvement in road connectivity and traffic flow. We have also reduced travel time, eliminated perennial flooding issues, enhanced intermodal transportation.

Most importantly, we have improved the health and socio-economic well being of the people through the Victoria Island–Lekki Circulation Project in Oniru Axis.”
Sanwo-Olu explained that the implementation of the Transportation and Traffic Management pillar of his administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S.

Agenda deliberately focussed on the provision of infrastructure using technology and innovation to achieve pre-conceived objectives of reducing travel time and providing better riding surface for vehicles.

He said the key outcome from the execution of the Circulation Project was the traffic diffusion, which, he said, had made a considerable positive impact on businesses and residents living in the area.

The Governor said the pressure being exerted on the public finances by various sectors made it difficult for the State Government alone to fund infrastructure, pointing out that the only available option was to create extra-budgetary capital for roads maintenance and improvement.

He said: “It is on this note that I appreciate Access Bank Plc for its collaborative efforts in the area of public infrastructure improvement. With this partnership, the State Government and Access Bank have reinforced the importance of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) at delivering public infrastructure.

“While we hope to continue to harness the benefits this collaboration, I am inviting the Organised Private Sector to partner with Government for maintenance and rehabilitation of existing infrastructure so that the Government can concentrate more on the provision of new road Infrastructure. We will reciprocate this kind gesture in commensurate measure.”
Sanwo-Olu urged residents and road users to take ownership of the rehabilitated roads, advising them to guard the infrastructure jealously.

“Government and Access Bank have done their bit. The project remains a public property owned by all residents. Therefore, protecting the roads will further encourage the sponsors, other corporate organisations and Government to do more,” the Governor said.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engineer Aramide Adeyoye, described the project as “iconic”, pointing out that it was one of the first road rehabilitation exercises to be flagged-off by the Sanwo-Olu administration under PIIP framework.

She said the PIIP arrangement would form the bedrock of the current administration’s strategy to increase the participation of the private sector development programmes.
Group Managing Director of Access Bank Plc, Mr. Herbert Wigwe, applauded the State Government for supporting the initiative conceived by the bank.

He said the financial institution would be willing to partner more with the Government to deliver more projects.

The Oniru of Iru Kingdom, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, praised both the State Government and the bank for bringing the Circulation Traffic Project to reality. He called on other corporations that have offices in Victoria Island to embark on similar development projects for improved commercial activities on the axis.

The improved roads span a total length of 1.8 kilometres, which started from Muri Okunola Extension, to Ligali Ayorinde, Akin Olugbade, Elegba Festival Road and Yesufu Abiodun Oniru Road up to Four Points by Sheraton.

There is also improvement work carried out on seven major junctions along Iru –Victoria Island axis to aid free flow of traffic.

Chikwe Udensi: Abia Shall Be Liberated From The Clutches Of Godfathers

The head Interpol Security Systems Nigeria and member Board of Trustees All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA ) in Abia State Sir Chikwe Udensi has charged all well-meaning Abia elites and the electorates to see the just concluded Edo State election as a typical example of what will happen in the state Come 2023 election.

He said Abians have become more politically conscious and have understood the need to take their destinies into their hands by making sure their votes will count in subsequent elections.

Udensi expressed confidence that this consciousness will trigger the absolute and total rejection of any candidate from any Godfather who will at last feast from the state treasury.

Udensi stated that one of greatest branches of Corruption is undue influence by Godfathers on whosoever they handpick to occupy any political position, he lamented how this factor has tremendously affected the overall advancement and economic development of Gods own state.

The APGA Chieftain stated the obvious fact that Abia has been suffering from the ills of bad governance despite the huge amount generated internally from the state and from federal allocations.

These enormous resources are being shared and ruthlessly distributed among desperate political engineers who call themselves Godfathers, leaving the masses to wallow in abject poverty and absolute penury.

The case in Abia is beyond normal and needs God intervention through the conscious and deliberate effort of Abians to unseat the present administration come 2023.

The security expert stated that the Governor is certainly Incapable of negotiating the conditions necessary for the liberation of Gods own people, and urged Abians to remain resolute and resilient in the strive to end undue interference and influence by political Godfathers which will only deepen the sores of Maladministration.
