Jose Mourinho has stated that he does not belive Tottenham‘s demolition of Manchester United will “destroy” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his squad, but the former Red Devils boss did profess his sympathy for his successor after their 6-1 mauling.

Spurs ran rampant over a 10-man Red Devils side at Old Trafford in Sunday’s Premier League clash, with doubles for Son Heung-min and Harry Kane helping to deal the damage on an often woeful performance from the hosts.


Despite an early Bruno Fernandes penalty handing them a second-minute lead, United capitulated at the back in dramatic fashion, with further goals from Tanguy Ndombele and Serge Aurier helping to cement a famous victory while Anthony Martial was sent off at the half-hour mark for an altercation with Erik Lamela.

United’s abject defending in the first three games of this Premier League season has seen them concede 11 goals. The only other time they let in at least 10 over the same period at the start of a season was in 1930-31, when they were relegated.

The humbling nature of the defeat will cast further doubt over Solskjaer’s credentials as the manager to restore United to the summit of English football, but Mourinho, the man he replaced in the dugout in 2018, insists he deserves credit for an obvious overall improvement in the team’s fortunes.

“I have sympathy for Ole because of the result,” he told reporters. “I don’t remember that I lost by six but I lost by five, I lost by four. I know how we hurt.



“I know it’s very, very important that the winning manager behaves in a way where he shows sympathy. Of course, I want to win, and of course, I want to win by seven, not by six. Don’t get me wrong.

“But it’s sympathy in our behaviour. Today was him, tomorrow is me. Of course, I feel sympathy for him. I can imagine that tonight he’s not going to sleep very, very well. But this is the hard life of us.

“But when I look to his team, there was an evolution. It’s not like he arrives here and the team doesn’t improve. The team is improving, they have good players, he bought lots of young players. Very good players. If it’s true that [Edinson] Cavani is coming, Cavani is one of the top strikers in the world. Manchester United is Manchester United. It’s not a defeat that is going to destroy them. I can imagine they will react like Manchester United always react.

“So, I feel sympathy for the result, but apart from that no sympathy because he has an incredible job and it feels like the players like him, they are with him. They are going to react for sure.”

Solskjaer was incensed by Lamela’s behaviour, the Spurs winger having flung an arm at Martial and then dropped to the ground under minimal contact as the Frenchman retaliated.

Mourinho, though, suggested United were fortunate not to see further red cards, with Paul Pogba having put in one or two heavy challenges and Luke Shaw having scythed down Lucas Moura as he ran towards David de Gea’s penalty area.

“I didn’t watch [Lamela’s reaction],” he said. “For sure, for sure, for sure, Manchester United could have ended the match with eight players. I can say because some of the reactions were not far from me and easy to see. But I agree with [referee] Anthony Taylor for not showing more red cards to them because it would be a disastrous situation for them.

“So, for example, that Luke Shaw red card…okay, that’s a bit…the situation between Lamela, Pogba and Martial, I don’t know. I don’t know. What I know is that before that we were winning, we were dominating, we were ultra-confident. And that’s the only thing that made the game easier. But the game was in our hands.”

Ndoma-Egba Hits C’River Govt Over Cheif Judge appointment

With the current stalemate between the Cross River government and National Judicial Council (NJC) over appointment of substantive Chief Judge for the state yet to be resolved, former Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma Egba, has described the lingering controversy as ‘needless and useless,’ saying the reasons given by the Calabar-based administration for rejecting Justice Akon Ikpeme, were strange.

In a chat with Journalists in Calabar at the weekend, the former Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, said the Judiciary and indeed all court processes in the state could be death within the next few months if the stalemate is not halted, and therefore appealed to those who have the ears of Gov Ben Ayade to help talk to him to bring the controversy to an end.


Recall that for about 10 months now, the state has remained without a substantive Chief Judge since the retirement of Justice Michael Edem. The State government, supported by the House of Assembly, is believed to prefer a junior judge, Justice Maurice Eneji, over Justice Akon Ikpeme, said to be the most senior, on grounds that Ikpeme is a security risk to the state as she is from a sister state, Akwa Ibom, but married to a Cross Riverian

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has been insisting on Ikpeme based on what they called order of seniority. The tenure of Justice Eneji, who presided over the State Judiciary on acting capacity twice (6 months) ended on September 2, 2020. Before Eneji, Ikpeme had acted for three months



While warning against ethnicizing the Judiciary in any way, Ndoma Egba called on Gov Ben Ayade to swear in Justice Ikpeme as Chief Judge, saying the issue of seniority in judiciary was not to be debated.

“I have never heard that there was zoning in the Judiciary. You cannot jump the queue in the legal profession because it is more about seniority. The issue of seniority is not debatable, it is how the profession is structured, “he stated, and also found fault with the rejection of Ikpeme on the basis of where she comes from.

He said: “Sir Darnley Alexandar, a West Indian, was Chief Justice (as they were then called) of the then South Eastern state. Justice Udo Udoma was Chief Judge in Uganda, our own Okoi Itam was Chief Justice in Gambia. How then should a lady, who spent all her life in Calabar and her working life with the government of Cross River State, married to a prominent Efik whose children are Efiks, a Cross River by marriage, not be Chief Judge because she is from Akwa Ibom State by birth?”

He enumerated the consequences of allowing the controversy to remain to include inability of the judiciary to assign new cases, explaining, “with this scenario, the litigant is helpless since it is only the Chief Judge that can assign his case to a Judge; those wrongly detained would have to remain in police custody longer since the Police cannot charge them to court since the case cannot be assigned; this will also negatively impact on the economy of lawyers and their professional growth, those who want to apply to become SAN cannot do so. The implications are far-reaching.”

According to him, discrimination against Ikpeme on the basis of where she comes from is a bad precedent capable of dismantling the family structure put together by God.

He said, “Besides anything, Akon Ikpeme’s father was a permanent secretary in the then Cross River and was a DO of Ikom. Akon Ikpeme has Cross River blood maternally. Even if Akon was a hundred percent Akwa Ibom, she has become a Cross Riverians by marriage. You don’t use politics to divide families. If you are a real man, your duty is to protect a woman, that is, if you are truly a man.”

Police Ban SARS, Other Tactical Squad


The Nigeria Police Force has banned the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and other tactical squads from routine patrol as well as stop-and-search.

This came after a public outcry on social media by Nigerians following the killings and extra judicial activities of SARS operatives.

Using the hashtag #endsars, Nigerians called for the scrapping of the police unit.


Reacting to the outcry, the Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, in a statement on Sunday banned the unit from engaging in routine patrol at the federal, zonal and command levels.

The statement reads: “The Inspector-General of Police, M.A Adamu, has banned the personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and other Tactical Squads of the Force including the Special Tactical Squad (STS), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Anti-Cultism Squad and other Tactical Squads operating at the Federal, Zonal and Command levels, from carrying out routine patrols and other conventional low-risk duties – stop and search duties, checkpoints, mounting of roadblocks, traffic checks, etc – with immediate effect.

In addition, no personnel of the Force is authorized to embark on patrols or tactical assignments in mufti. They must always appear in their police uniforms or approved tactical gear.



The IGP’s directives come against the backdrop of findings by the leadership of the Force that a few personnel of the Tactical Squads hide under these guise to perpetrate all forms of illegality, contrary to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Code of Conduct and Rules of Engagement establishing the squads.

“Specifically, the IGP has warned the Tactical Squads against the invasion of the privacy of citizens particularly through indiscriminate and unauthorized search of mobile phones, laptops and other smart devices. They are to concentrate and respond only to cases of armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crimes when the need arises.

“The IGP notes that the FSARS and other Police Tactical Squads remain a critical component of the Force in confronting prevailing and emerging violent crimes in the country. He however condemns every act of unprofessionalism, abuse of human rights and high-handedness by some personnel of the Squads. He has therefore ordered the X-Squad and the Monitoring Unit to embark on immediate and massive nationwide monitoring of activities of Tactical Squads and other police officers on the road. They are to ensure prompt arrest, investigation and prosecution of all erring police officers who violate these directives and other extant regulations of the Force.

“The IGP has equally warned, that henceforth, the Commissioner of Police in charge of FSARS, Commissioners of Police in charge of State Commands and the FCT as well as their supervisory Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police, will be held liable for any misconduct within their Area of Responsibility (AOR). He therefore charged them to ensure effective supervision and mentoring of the personnel of the Tactical Squads under their jurisdiction.

“Meanwhile, two operatives of the FSARS and their civilian accomplice operating in Lagos State, INSPR Sale James, INSPR Monday Uchiola and Okechukwu Ogbonna, have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, for acts of professional misconduct including extortion and intimidation of innocent citizens. The operational vehicle of the men has also been impounded and disciplinary procedure has already commenced against the defaulters.

“The IGP reaffirms his commitment to bequeathing to Nigerians, a reformed Police Force that is accountable, responsible and ever ready to defend and uphold the rights of the citizens while discharging its duties of keeping the people safe and secure. He enjoins the citizens not to allow the misconduct by a few personnel of the Force to negatively impact on their belief, confidence and trust in the police.” (SaharaReporters)

Mother Kills Own Children Because Husband Married Second Wife

A jealous housewife in Diso village, Gwale Local Government area of Kano State, Hauwa Aminu, has allegedly killed two of her children over rivalry and because her husband, one Ibrahim Haruna Aminu, married a second wife.

A family source said Hauwa had been living with envy and jealousy ever since Aminu married another wife, leading to her killing her own children.

IPOB In Diaspora Begs Israel, UN For Biafra Actualisation


Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPO, living in South Africa, have urged the Israeli government and the United Nations to put pressure on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the persecution of their members in Nigeria.

In a statement sent to SaharaReporters on Saturday, they complained that the Department of State Services (DSS) had arrested people for listening to Radio Biafra, an online radio station created by the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

They appealed to both the Israeli and UN government to force Nigeria to drop all charges against Kanu and release all their members in Nigerian prisons.

Part of the statement read: “IPOB South Africa is urging the Israeli Embassy and the United Nations to uphold Its charter on indigenous peoples rights of self-determination and freedom, by compelling President Buhari and the Federal Government of Nigeria not only to release all Biafrans held in secret locations but also to tread with the utmost restraint and caution when dealing with those that are agitating for Biafra.



“We are calling on the Israeli Embassy also to see to the question of savagery, brutality, blatant disregard to the rule of law and undemocratic ruling of Muhammadu Buhari, and to see to it that, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPO, will peacefully restore Biafra as a Sovereign State.”

According to the statement signed by the coordinator of IPOB members in South Africa, Ogechukwu Isu, “they – Biafrans are not fearful of the prospect of a second civil war. They are not prepared to settle for crumbs, and neither do they fear death, conflict, defeat, incarceration, butchery or persecution. Biafrans determined to restore Biafra.

“They are imbued with a spirit that cannot be suppressed and the more they cry “Biafra”, the more the spirits of the millions that were slaughtered on the Biafran side during the Biafra/Nigeria war, are invoked. The more they cry “Biafra”, the more the souls of the hundreds of thousands of their people butchered during the barbaric pogroms in the North and Lagos in the mid-60s and after that, are remembered.

“The more they cry “Biafra”, the more they remember how their fathers were stripped of everything after the Biafra/Nigeria war, and how they have been denied the opportunity to rise to the highest office in the land. The more they cry “Biafra”, the more they acknowledge and recognise the bitter fact that the Buhari administration regards their kith and kin as nothing more than third-class citizens and unfortunate prisoners of war. The worst thing that the Nigerian authorities can do is to treat us with levity or contempt.”

In the statement, IPOB members argued that those seeking the actualisation of an independent state of Biafra have the fundamental right to self-determination and should never be maltreated by the Nigerian armed forces.

His topic was 'Christians in Politics and Public Service.' He asked, "Who is a citizen?" I would have thought that was obvious until he brought in Greek philosophy which identified idiots, tribesmen and citizens. I would later find this article online.

Unless you understand your role in society, you can never make any meaningful contribution. According to the Greeks there are three types of people on earth, the idiots, the tribesmen and the citizens. Studies show only 10% of Nigerians are citizens. The remaining 90% are either tribesmen or idiots.

When the Greeks used the word 'idiot', they did not use it as a curse word. Idiots are people who just don’t care. If they write exams they will cheat, if they are in government they will steal, an idiot does not care at all, if he eats banana he throws the peels anywhere instead of putting it in trash, according to the Greeks, some societies have more idiots than tribesmen and citizens.

The next set of people are tribesmen, these are people that look at everything from the point of view of the tribe. These are people that believe in you only if you are part of the tribe. It can be terrible to have a tribesman as a leader, he will alienate the rest. When the Greeks talk about tribes, it’s not just about ethnicity, they also consider religion as a tribe, a great percentage of Nigerians are tribesmen, because they view everything from the point of view of the tribe, they trust only tribesmen.

The last group are citizens. These are people that like to do things the right way. They will respect traffic light even if no one is watching them, they drive within speed limit, they respect the laws, they won’t cheat in exams, in government they won’t steal, they are compassionate and give to others to promote their well being.

Citizens often promote projects that benefit everyone. The Greeks called this group the citizens. Some countries have more citizens than tribesmen and idiots, some countries have so many idiots. A tribesman can become a citizen through orientation and an idiot can become a citizen by training and constant enforcement of the law.

But things fall apart if you elect an idiot or tribesman to lead you if he has not been reformed.

Where do you belong? Are you an idiot, a tribesman or a citizen.
It calls for deep reflection.

*FAITH HALL OF FAME*

*BIBLE READING: HEBREWS 11; HEBREWS 13:7-8*

*"That you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises." Hebrews 6:12(NKJV).*

The faith-driven life is the normal Christian life. The Scripture declares that, "By grace you have been saved through faith" (Ephesians 2:8a). The Greek word for salvation is "Soteria," which essentially means the total package our Lord Jesus Christ paid for us through His Sacrifice on the Cross including redemption, prosperity, righteousness, etc. In other words, the password with which we gain access to the Unsearchable Riches of Christ is faith. However, the power of a positive example can never be overemphasized, for that reason, there is the need for us to gain motivation from the heroes of faith whose exploits were recorded in the Bible.

The Bible tells us that by faith "the elders obtained a good testimony."(Hebrews 11:2). In other words, our forbears in the Faith had their names and achievements eternally cast in stone, as it were, becoming a reference point for generations yet unborn. The whole of Hebrews chapter 11 is a roll call of the Faith Hall of Fame, all of whom serve as an Eternal "Cloud of Witnesses," urging on this current End Time Army (Hebrews 12:1).

In the midst of the storms of life, we can be rest assured that certain people before us by virtue of their absolute confidence in God made a name for themselves which can be likened to the "SI Unit" of faith. (The "SI Unit" refers to the international standard of measurement eg: Kilograms for weight, Seconds for time, Metres for length, etc.)

How inspiring it is to know that men of like passion, albeit operating under the Old Covenant through faith:
•Subdued kingdoms e.g Barak, Jephtah and David.
•Worked righteousness e.g Abel and Noah.
•Obtained promises e.g Abraham.
•Stopped the mouth of lions e.g Samson and Daniel.
•Quenched the violence of fire e.g Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
•Escaped the edge of the sword e.g Moses and Rahab.
•Out of weakness were made strong e.g Gideon.
•Became valiant in battle e.g Joshua...The list goes on and on.

As we meditate on this Faith Hall of Fame, there is still one sobering yet encouraging point: According to Hebrews 8:6, We as Christians have a better covenant "established on better promises" than the aforementioned heroes of faith, hence, we have no excuse. The Acts of the Apostles are still being written so we have a golden opportunity to stand up and get counted in this glorious roll call. We must never forget that "the people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits."(Daniel 11:32).

Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of being in Your Service. We appreciate You for giving us heroes of faith that we can draw inspiration from. Help us arise and shine as role models of faith for posterity's sake in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
