Infinix Note 8 'Deepsea Luster' unboxing and review.

The Infinix Note 8 is only an incremental upgrade over the Note 7, which is to be expected because of the short time(5 months) between their launches. Infinix released the Note 8 and Note 8i and the Note 8i is an even better deal, spotting the same Helio G80 processor, 5200mAh Battery, USB Type C and comes in 64GB/4GB variant at a starting price of N65,700.

Infinix also included the X Note app to the Note 8 buy no stylus shipped in the box, I did however figure out a way to take notes using a regular pen with a rubber tip, it's however not as pressure sensitive. I compared the camera of the Infinix Note 8 vs Note 7.

The difference between them is not significant enough to trade in your Note 7 for the Note 8 but if you're already saving for the Note 7 or Note 7 lite, you get to decide which to buy between them and save money where you can.

Note 8 Price - N90,500

Tension In Nsukka After Keke Driver Was Allegedly Stabbed By Passenger's Kinsman (Photos)

Violence was averted on Saturday, October 31, after commercial trycycle drivers went rampage over the stabbing of their colleague by a Hausa man in Nsukka, Enugu State.

IgbereTV gathered that trouble started when an argument ensued between the Keke driver and a Hausa woman over payment.

According to Facebook user, Aluma Jona Enyi, the Hausa woman reported the matter to her kinsmen, who stormed the area and in the process, one of them stabbed the Keke driver with a knife. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he is curently receiving treatment.

However, protest erupted when the news of the stabbing filtered in. Angry Keke riders went on rampage, destroying periishable goods belonging to Hausa traders.

Aluma Jona Enyi wrote on Facebook:

"There was a commotion at barracks junction, Nsukka some hours ago. An Hausa woman selling perishable goods at barracks junction had little misunderstanding with keke rider that conveyed her and her goods to barracks junction. The keke rider insisted that she pays him a certain amount of money for conveying her from market to barracks junction. But the Hausa woman refused. After some dragging and pushing, the woman went and reported the case to her Hausa brothers. The brothers came to defend their sister, and one of them stabbed the keke rider. The keke rider was rushed to Bishop shanahan hospital Nsukka, where he is currently receiving treatment. Keke riders associations went on rampage seeking for revenge. No life was lost. They only destroyed some perishable goods, and blocked road for some minutes. They were stopped from destroying properties belonging to Hausa people or even attacking Hausa people. Normalcy has returned to the scene.
Don't panic. There is no tribal conflict at Nsukka. Nsukka people are peace loving people.

Salisu Zuru Sued For Keeping 2 Public Offices, Receiving Double Salaries

All is not well in the National Assembly Legislative Aides’ Forum as a lawyer, Mr Joshua Okah, who is Senior Legislative Aide to a member of the House of Representatives, Mr Ben Igbakpa, has dragged the Chairman-elect, Mr Salisu Zuru, before a court for allegedly maintaining two public offices and drawing salaries from them.

Okah is accusing Zuru, who recently won NASSLAF’s recent chairmanship election, of refusing to quit his earlier position as a member of the board of the National Orientation Agency before taking another appointment as SLA to Senator Sahabi Ya’u, who represents Zamfara North.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), had in December 2017 appointed 209 chairmen and 1,258 members of the governing boards of departments, agencies, parastatals and corporations of the Federal Government, some of whom were later confirmed to have died before the appointments.

In the suit filed in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on October 26, 2020, with Number FCT/HC/BW/CV/311/20, Okah joined other legislative aides who played various roles in the conduct of the election, as defendants.

They are Idris Ejima Aruwa, Mon-Charles Egbo, Olushola Olugbani, Oyorokoto Ogheneruemu, Ndudi Nwagbara, Jackson Collins Ette, Haruna Abdullahi Kure, Bamidele Ajibola, Garbriel Garba Silas, Umar Farouk Ahmed, Yakubu Shano Garba and Okwudili Nwankino.

Among other reliefs, Okah is praying the court to issue an interim order directing Zuru to step aside as NASSLAF’s chairman-elect and/or substantive chairman, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.

Okah is also praying for an order of Interim injunction restraining the 2nd to 13th respondents, as well as the Clerk to the National Assembly, Olatunde Ojo, from “acting on or taking further steps in respect of the chairmanship election of NASSLAF held on 16th October, 2020, and/or accepting or giving any further recognition to the 1st defendant/respondent (Zuru) as the NASSLAF chairman-elect or substantive chairman or otherwise however called and/or issuing the 1st defendant/respondent a fresh Certificate of Return…”

The petitioner told the court, “The 1st defendant is a Senior Legislative Aide appointed by the National Assembly Service Commission on the recommendation of Senator Alhaji Ya’u Sahabi on the 27th of August, 2019, and also currently a member of the Board of National Orientation Agency appointed by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the 29th of December, 2017. Sequel to the above, he has been receiving emoluments from both offices and the 1st defendant is a public servant and bound by the extent provisions of the Public Service Rules, 2009.

“It is not lawful for the 1st defendant to receive and/or be paid emoluments in respect of his office as Senior Legislative Aide appointed by the National Assembly Service Commission and at the same time as a member of the Board of National Orientation Agency appointed by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The 1st defendant, who was elected as Chairman of the NASSLAF at the delegates election held on 16th October, 2020, has put himself in a position where his personal interest as Senior Legislative Aide appointed by the National Assembly Service Commission conflicts with his duties and responsibilities as a member of the Board of National Orientation Agency appointed by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and, therefore, he is, in the eye of the law, not eligible to participate and/or contest in the NASSLAF Election 2020.”

Ukah argued that the chairmanship elections were void and ought to be nullified, adding that a fresh election should be conducted for the remaining chairmanship candidates.

The plaintiff, in the affidavit he deposed to, stated that upon appointment by the NASC, all legislative aides, as part of their conditions for appointment, are entitled to emoluments such as salaries, allowances’ payment of first 28 days in lieu of accommodation upon assumption of duty, severance gratuity at the rate of 300 per cent of annual basic salary for the completion of each tenure, and trainings among others.

The SLA also noted that all the 13 defendants had been receiving the emoluments except severance gratuity, while those who served in the 8th National Assembly had been paid all their entitlements.

According to him, as of the time Zuru contested the NASSLAF election, he remained a member of the NOA board. He also attached a copy of a letter from the Office of the Director General of the NOA, dated October 19, 2020, confirming the 1st defendant’s membership of the present board of the agency, as well as a photograph taken by the board’s members on April 5, 2018.

The affidavit partly read, “That the 1st defendant deliberately refused, failed and/or neglected to disclose the above stated facts of his membership of the board of NOA to the 2nd to 13th defendants during screening all in his desperation for power. That had the 1st defendant disclosed the facts under reference, he would not have been screened and/or cleared to contest for the NASSLAF chairmanship election.

“That the NOA is in Category ‘B’ under the categorisation of board of federal parastatals. Since inauguration of the board since 2008 to date, the 1st defendant, being a member, has sat four times and the fifth meeting in 2020 was done virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 1st defendant has been receiving emoluments from the agency.”

A member of NASSLAF, who is an aide to one of the leaders of the National Assembly, told our correspondent that many members of the forum were aggrieved with how the electoral exercise was conducted. According to him, the electoral committee for delegates’ election is an equivalent of indirect primary by political parties.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, also alleged that Zuru was the preferred candidate of the National Assembly management, which did not go down well with some members.

The aide said, “There are over 4,000 aides in the National Assembly but only 48 delegates voted to determine the new chairman. There is a division among members. Since the suit was filed, the situation has become worse as some members want Okah to pursue the case to a logical conclusion, while others are warning against allowing the matter to degenerate into a crisis.”

Sanni Halilu Shaibu: What EndSARS Protesters Failed To Do

b]AMB RACHEL BAKAM INTERVIEWS FORMER KOGI GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANT PRINCE (DR) SANNI HALILU SHAIBU ON HIS CAREER AND THE END SARS PROTEST[/b]

A blue blood born into a Royal family, former APC Governorship Aspirant in last election and a well known Nigerian business magnate, investor, speaker and philanthropist, His Excellency Prince (Dr) Sanni Halilu Shaibu PHD President/Founder OCTAQ Group which have expanded to cover financial audit and professional services, information technology, oil and gas and telecommunications is a man with Midas touch of entrepreneurial excellence. A World class business executive, corporate trailblazer, political scientist, a State Administrator, Frontline Philanthropist, management expert and iconic Statesman of outstanding acumen

Dogged by the Principle of Liberalism and the need to serve people as their own true servant, Prince Halilu Sanni Shuaibu is one silent humanitarian that was born on the 15th of January in the serene town of Ankpa, Ankpa LGA of Kogi State

A paragon of quality and excellence, he is a quintessential man who believes that reputation is the cornerstone of power and success. He therefore lives on and pursues his educational career with commitment and distinguished performance. He had the benefit of early exposure to Western education and the chances of success they guarantee
Amongst numerous awards, recognitions and achievements, he just won an award as Youth Economic builder at the Prestigious Democracy Heroes Award and he is a Distinguished fellow of the institute of public resources management and politics

In an interview with Rachel the PIPER, he speaks about how he built his career and addresses the youths #endsars #endswat #endpolicebrutality protests that have shaken the core of our Country in recent times

Kindly find next this interview:

Question: During your growing up days, what moulded you into becoming who you are today

Ans.: In life there are two things you need to carry along as you grow: 1) You must have a role model; look up to someone you will love to be like. It gives you courage. It builds your stamina. Another thing is to be trusted because people need to be able to entrust certain things into your hands that you manage and run

As a young boy growing up, I chose to go into business and today I am happy because of the principles I adopted. The principles of carrying everyone along in the business. The principles of not cheating people in business and the principle of starting with little funds. As a kid, when I was attending Islamic college in my village, I use to take money from my mum and buy fertiliser and sell to the market women who also sell to the farmers and I make little money. I barely finished my secondary school then and I use to buy some items like Agric products and take to other states. I use to take things from Ankpa to Onitsha and Anambra then I make some money

VIEWS ON NIGERIA:

Nigeria is a Country where if you support peace, you will enjoy peace. Nigeria is doing great. People are comparing Nigeria with America...some Countries in Asia and other parts of the World. It makes it look like Nigeria is not doing well. Nigeria is doing great

Question: In line with talking about Nigeria, what can you say about the End SARS, End Swat, End police brutality protests that have shaken Nigeria in the past weeks?

Ans.: Let me start with the End SARS. I just mentioned that every challenge...every issue demand a reaction. End SARS protest has been justified. Let me explain this to you: The youths came together and said "This is what we want. We are tired of this"...and they came up with demands. I studied international security and cyber crime. I'll tell you how Government works. Government have set up few persons to go underground to source for information because sometimes a demand will come. This is what we want...that is what we want. When Government tries those things, the people come up with other things...then the Government get those things sorted, then the people come up with other excuses. The Government employ intelligence to find out what the people want.

ABOUT THE PROTESTS:

The protesters failed to do one thing. They needed to have appointed people that will lead, people that will speak, people that will represent the group. This is where they got it wrong and it makes it look like they are faceless. Some persons will say these are noise makers but they have good intentions. They have a demand they are presenting to Government but they were meant to come together and say "You from this region, you will represent the youths". Or pick one person from each State to represent each zone. If you recall the Lagos State Governor in his speech said for three days they were trying to decipher who the team leaders are but they were struggling... agitations here and there. This one will say "I am the team leader...". Another will say "I am...." They didn't know who to hold on to and these things kept escalating. Those people at the helms of affairs today were elected. They are not military. We voted for them so we have to recognise what the constitution says.

What happened that amazed me was on a Friday. The Moslems were praying at the protest grounds and the Christians surrounded them protecting them. The Christians protected the Moslems. I was watching and I said "This is amazing". That act deeply impressed me. It shows that the issue is not about Christian or Moslem. It's not religious or tribal. It's about what the Country wants...what the youths want. The truth is from my perspective, Government is already responding to the demands. It's an issue that has been resolved and Government is already responding as we speak so let's give Government a chance

Question: So what's your word of advice to the youths?

Ans.: The youths I hail you all. The truth is we are stronger United. We need to avoid distributing and disseminating fake information flying on the social Media. We need to verify. Before you send or forward any information, you must verify the authenticity of those things you want to forward to the public. These things can cause wars. I have seen something that happened in Uganda over 7 or 8 years ago. During the protest, I saw the video. They made it look like it happened in Anambra State in Nigeria and if I didn't have the right information, I would have believed it and taken it hard on Government. For Some of our celebrities, Nigeria must exist before you make your money, before you make your name, your fame. Before you rush to the media, please verify what you are sending out

LAST WORDS

I want us to believe in this Country and I want us to also believe that we can join hands and make this Country great again. Every Country has its challenge and whatever we go through In this Country is the challenge we have to surmount but we need to come together the United strong people that we are to build this Country and to make it stronger.

9 Nigerians Contesting In Tuesday’s U.S. Elections

No fewer than nine Nigerian Americans are on the ballot in Tuesday’s general elections in the United States, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Running mostly on the platform of the Democratic Party, the candidates are bidding for different offices at the federal, state and local levels.

NAN reports that besides the presidential election, governorship polls are holding in 11 states and two territories, in addition to other state and local elections.

Congressional elections are also holding on Tuesday with all the 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate up for grabs.

At the federal level, Mr Oye Owolewa, whose father is from Kwara and mother from Oyo, is aiming for a ‘shadow’ (non-voting) seat in the House of Representatives.

Owolewa, a Ph.D holder in Pharmacy from the Northeastern University, Boston, is seeking to represent the District of Columbia (DC) under the Democratic Party.

If elected, the 30-year-old, whose agenda include fighting income inequality in the U.S., would be the first Nigerian congressman in the country’s history.

Also at the federal level, Mr Yomi Faparusi, an Ibadan-born native of Ode-Ekiti in Ekiti State, is vying as an independent candidate to represent the state of Tennessee in the U.S. Senate.

Faparusi holds a doctorate in Medicine from the University of Ibadan, a Ph.D. in Health from Johns Hopkins University, and Juris Doctorate from the Widener University School of Law, Delaware.

This is not his first shot at the U.S. Congress. In 2014 and 2016, he vied for the Republican Party’s ticket to the House of Representatives, but lost in both occasions

Faparusi’s priorities include being a positive voice for all Nigerians in the U.S. Senate, and inspiring Americans of African or Nigerian descent to seek public office in the country.

In Missouri, a Republican controlled state, Mr Yinka Faleti from Lagos is the Democratic Party flagbearer in the election for the office of Secretary of State.

According to Wikipedia, Faleti was in the U.S. Army as an active-duty officer from 1998 to 2004. He served in Kuwait, first under Operation Desert Spring and later as part Operation Enduring Freedom.

The 44-year-old father of four holds a Bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy, West Point, and a Juris Doctorate from the Washington University School of Law.

His goals as a Secretary of State include protection of the “right to vote for Missouri families”, and ensuring elected officials hear the people’s voice.

Also at the state level, Mr Paul Akinjo from Ondo, is running for election to the California State Assembly under the Democratic Party to represent District 12.

Akinjo once served as Vice Mayor of Lathrop, California, and in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1982 to 1989. His priorities include housing, immigration and transportation.

In Delaware, a small Mid-Atlantic U.S. state, Adewunmi Kuforiji is aspiring to represent District 34 in the state House of Representatives.

Kuforiji, originally from Ibadan, Oyo, secured the Democratic Party’s ticket on Sept. 15 after defeating his challenger, Robert Haynes, at the primary. He holds a Bachelor in Accounting and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Delaware State University.

In the 2018 mid-term elections, he vied for the same position but lost to the incumbent, Lyndon Yearick, of the Republican Party, whom he is facing he on Tuesday.

Also at the state level, Ms Esther Agbaje, is seeking to represent District 59B in the Minnesota House of Representatives on the platform of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFLP), an affiliate of the U.S. Democratic Party.

The 35-year-old daughter of an Episcopal priest and a librarian, both Nigerian immigrants, defeated longtime state Representative Raymond Dehn in the party’s primary in August.

She is one of one of four progressive greenhorns who defeated established Democratic legislators in the primary.

Agbaje has a law degree from Harvard University, a Master’s from the University of Pennsylvania, and has served in the U.S. Department of State, among others.

As a millennial, a “generation that has suffered numerous setbacks”, she seeks to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to government.

On the ballot at the local government level are April Ademiluyi, Ngozi Akubuike and Benjamin Osemenam.

Ademiluyi, 39, is running on the Democratic Party’s ticket for Judge of the Seventh Circuit Court in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

For her part, Akubuike, a legal practitioner, is an independent candidate for judge of the Minnesota 2nd District Court Position 8.

Akubuike studied law in Nigeria, then worked in the banking sector before moving to the U.S. where she graduated from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law.

She has served in several capacities, including legal manager for the state of Minnesota.

Osemenam, who moved to the U.S. in 1982, is contesting for a seat in the Brooklyn Park City Council of Minnesota to represent East District.

An engineer with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, he is vying on the platform of National Party.

He is a former president of the Association of Nigerian Engineers in Minnesota.(NAN)

Pastor, Female Assistant Burnt To Death By Jealous Lover In Bayelsa

A 40-year-old jealous lover, identified as Etifa Obukulubu, on Saturday in Igbogene area of Yenagoa Local Government Area, the Bayelsa State, allegedly set ablaze the home of his girlfriend over suspicion of cheating.

The deceased, a pastor working with the New Baptist Church and a female assistant were reportedly burnt to death in the fire.

While some residents claimed the burnt house was owned by the targeted girl’s family, others claimed it was rented by the deceased Pastor.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident, which occurred at about 3am on Saturday, led to pandemonium as attempt to rescue those inside the building failed.

DAILY POST also learnt that the exit door out of the house was jammed from outside when the targeted girlfriend, identified as Wilberforce, reportedly vacated her home for the deceased pastor and his assistant who came from outside the state on an evangelical mission.

Residents of Igbogene Community told DAILY POST, that the suspect, who is a commercial driver, had waited for his girlfriend to come home, “but maybe on sighting her with a man and another girl, he got angry and set the home ablaze.

“He waited for them to enter the house. And use fuel to set fire round the house. But he did not know that his girlfriend had left gone to sleep with another friend.”

Another resident, who described the suspect as a loner, said the incident shocked everyone in the area, “these lovers were staying three houses apart and no one suspected they were dating.

“It is unfortunate that the pastor and his assistant died in the fire. I was told the pastor was invited to preach in Yenagoa and the estranged girlfriend offered her home for them to sleep so for them to leave early.”

Contacted on the development, the Spokesman to the Bayelsa Police Command, confirmed the incident and said investigation is ongoing. (DailyPost)
