2Face Blasts Nigerian Government Over Proposed Regulation Of Social Media (Video)

Nigerian singer, 2Face has blasted the Nigerian government over the proposed regulation of social media, IgbereTV reports.

Speaking in a video he shared on Instagram, the singer said;

if the Nigerian government was responsible, they you would have blocked foreign social media apps and safeguarded apps developed by Nigerians.

According to 2Face, that is the "true regulation".

He also pointed out that there are many tech gurus in Nigeria who stopped pushing because they couldn't compete with foreign apps. 2Face noted that the country would have been the best place for indigenous apps to thrive because of the huge market.

Ekweremadu Visits Scene Of Enugu Accident; Mourns Victims (Photos)

Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has expressed shock and sadness over the accident that claimed lives of several pupils and staff of Presentation Nursery and Primary School, Awgu, Enugu State during the week, describing it as horrific.

According to IgbereTV reports, Ekweremadu spoke during a condolence visit to the Catholic Bishop of Awgu Diocese, Bishop John Okoye, and a visit to the scene of the accident on Friday.

The lawmaker, who was accompanied by his wife, Lady Nwanneka Ekweremadu and the former Ambassador of Nigeria to Japan, Ambassador Gordi Agbo and his wife, Georgina, said:

“Presentation School has always been dear to our hearts as a centre for academic and moral excellence. You came first in the 2012 edition of the Ikeoha Annual Secondary School Quiz Competition and have won several of our full university scholarships. So, it can be imagined how we have been traumatised and shocked at the news of the accident involving our children in the nursery and primary section. I have been to the scene and it is horrific. I think last Wednesday can best be qualified as a black Wednesday.

We have come to sympathise with you. The condolences and prayers of the people of Enugu West are with the families of these fine souls, the school, and the Catholic Diocese of Awgu. We pray God to grant the dead eternal rest and grant quick recovery to those who sustained injuries”.

Speaking, Bishop Okoye, who received Ekweremadu and his wife, on behalf of the management of Presentation School and the Catholic Diocese of Awgu, thanked the Senator and the people of Enugu West Senatorial District for their love and support at this trying time.

Strike: FG Making Smooth Negotiation Difficult —ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has accused the Federal Government of frustrating efforts to resolve issues that led to the ongoing strike action embarked upon by the lecturers.

The National President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, said this on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television and monitored by our correspondent.

He explained that the Federal Government has refused to take the necessary steps in addressing the strike action.

According to him, the delay in adopting ASUU’s preferred platform, the University Transparency and Accountability Solution, is one of the major reasons why the strike has not been suspended.

He said, “The strike is still on as a result of the FG not taking the necessary steps. We gave them two weeks to address our five points demands.

“We engaged the government but they were not forthcoming. They had a whole year to address those issues. They gave us positions that were not acceptable to our members.

“During our first meeting, we thought they were almost resolving the issues.

“What compounded the problem is the issue of IPPIS. We have said that it is a distraction. There is no university in the world that IPPIS is being used.

“We have done three presentations of UTAS to the Minister of Education and his team, the leadership of Senate and Office of the Accountant-General. They only agreed that UTAS is accepted in principles.

“We are almost getting UTAS approved but govt is saying that our members should first migrate to IPPIS before returning to UTAS. That makes no economic sense. The government has made it difficult for smooth negotiation. They said our members will be paid when they move to IPPIS.”

A few hours before the interview, the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, said FG was committed to ending the strike.

“We will keep pushing for a consensus on this issue so as to bring the much-needed succour to students at home,” he tweeted.

For the second time in one week, the meeting between the FG and ASUU deadlocked on Wednesday as they failed to agree on the payment platform to be used in disbursing the salary arrears and the N30bn Earned Allowance of the university lecturers.

The FG team led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, had offered to pay the salary arrears and the N30bn Earned Allowances of the university lecturers through the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System platform pending the roll-out of ASUU’s preferred platform, the University Transparency and Accountability Solution.

But the ASUU delegation led by Ogunyemi insisted that the payment should be made through the UTAS.

Sequel to their failure to reach a consensus, the parties agreed to consult their respective principals and stakeholders and adjourned till next week Wednesday.

A group of tourists was visiting a crocodile farm and they were in a floating structure in the middle of a crocodile lake. The owner of the farm shouted: "Whoever jumps into the water and swims to shore, will receive 10 million dollars. The silence was deafening.

Suddenly, a man jumped into the water. He was chased by crocodiles, but with great luck he was unharmed. The owner announced: "We have a winner!!!".

After receiving their reward, the man and his wife returned to the hotel room. The man tells his wife: "I did not jump in myself ... Someone pushed me !!!"

His wife smiled and said coldly: "It was me!"

Moral of the story: "Behind every successful man, there is always a woman to give him a little push" ... 🤣😂🤣

Nigerians React To New Dress Code For Students Of Federal Polytechnic Oko (Photo)

A document has been distributed to students of Federal Polytechnic Oko to make them aware of the dress code in the institution, IgbereTV reports.

The document reads, War Against Indecent Dressing (WAID) in Federal Polytechnic Oko then goes on to list what is not acceptable in the tertiary institution as regards fashion.

For the women, the code bans things like skirt with slit above knees, off-shoulder dresses and tops, sleeveless dresses and tops, rugged jeans and low waist trousers, lengthy and coloured braids, coloured hair, long artificial lashes, bandana hairband, bogus fashion jewelries and more.

For the male students, they banned long and bushy hair/beard, braids, dread lock and coloured hair, rugged jeans, kaftan without trousers, inscription on hair cut, T-shirts and jeans with immoral messages and more.

Nigerians have reacted, calling the dress code "ridiculous".

Apparently this is the dress code issued by a Federal Polytechnic in Anambra state.

How ridiculous is this?

Institutions subjugating citizens and subjects. Does it not end?
