IPOB Dismisses Miyetti Allah’s Business Claims In S’East As Deceptive

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPO has described as deceptive claims by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), of solely concerned about their business interests in the South East.

The group said it could not be swayed by such deception.

A statement issued by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, warned the group to steer clear of the zone, insisting that their investments were not needed.

The group assured that it had what it took to protect the people of the region regardless of human and material cost.

The statement read in part, “The attention of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPO, has been drawn to the deceptive statement credited to the frontline Fulani murderous group called Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), that they are solely concerned about their business interests in the East and not motivated by their age long territorial expansionism.

“We find it amusing that a known terror sponsor with a known history of ethnic cleansing in the Middle Belt will claim to have purely business interest in Biafra land.

“We, therefore, warn Miyetti Allah, who by their own admission is the lead coordinating group of all terrorist groups in Nigeria, to stay away from Biafraland. We don’t need them and their investment including their footsoldiers – Fulani herdsmen, Bandits, Ansaru Terrorists, ISWAP and others. They should all steer clear of Biafraland before it’s too late.

“Biafraland cannot harbour blood suckers masquerading as herders. We can no longer sit idly by and watch them spill innocent blood under whatever guise, or raid communities without provocation, or maim and rape our mothers and daughters, or destroy our crops and farmlands.

“IPOB family worldwide has vowed never to allow Miyetti Allah continue with their criminal activities in Biafraland and that is how it shall be. You may have a few cowardly eastern governors in your pocket but be minded that such nonsense does not extend to IPOB.

“Henceforth, any criminality traced to Miyetti Allah terrorists shall be resisted with equally force in the interest of self defence and preservation. Any death in our land caused or masterminded by Miyetti Allah and co terrorist groups shall be avenged.

“Never again shall our hapless mothers and daughters be raped and dismembered. Never again shall our farmers be hacked to death or their crops destroyed by these agents of darkness! Never again shall our forests be occupied by these desert dwelling locusts!

“Miyetti Allah can only deceive their fellow Nigerians with their gimmicks and antics, we IPOB is smarter than them any time any day. We are working tirelessly night and day to protect our people regardless of human and material cost.

“Nigerian government, security agencies and Miyetti Allah are all working together to soften the ground for Fulani terrorist take over of homelands of indigenous people the British experimentally lumped together into the largest human Zoo in the world.

“Miyetti Allah are free to torment and operate in every part of Nigeria because no one is in any doubt that Britain bequeathed Nigeria to them upon independence in 1960 but Biafraland is out of bounds.

“It is on record that Miyetti Allah has committed lots of atrocities and massacred innocent citizens in Nigeria particularly in Southern Kaduna and Middle Belt and parts of Biafraland that is why we cannot continue to allow them carry on with their evil mission in the territory of Biafra.

“Despite the immense support, these cattle herding terrorists enjoy from the Fulani government in Aso Rock and Nigeria’s security operatives in army and police, we shall continue to defend our land. Miyetti Allah will meet their end if they don’t stay away from our territory.”

“Governor Uzodinma should have been here, even the LGA chairman for Owerri North. STK has done well, and should be commended by government. At this level of development, government and big corporate organisations should be seeking for ways to assist they company hit her target,” he lamented.

He commended the management of the company for their efforts in tackling the health challenges facing the country through the provisions of affordable and quality drugs.

Prof. Ohuabunwa, who was the former Managing Director of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals West African, now Niemeth Pharmaceuticals, however, encouraged STK Biotech management to focus attention on marketing their products, saying every good product cannot be seen unless it becomes public.

NAUTH Management Begs Striking Health Workers To Resume Work

The Chief Medical Director of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, Anambra state, Prof. Anthony Igwegbe, on Thursday, appealed to the striking Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) members to return to work to save lives. He regretted that the strike had crippled activities at the health institution, exposing patients to unnecessary danger.

Speaking to reporters in Nnewi, the CMD expressed doctors readiness to carry out their duties, but said they needed complementary services of other health workers to ensure wholistic services were rendered to patients.

He explained that some of the patients whose cases could not be handled by the available doctors were referred to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka or elsewhere for medical attention.

He said: “The strike has impacted negatively on us since it started on Monday. The JOHESU members are very determined this time than ever before to press home their demands.

“We beg JOHESU members to return to their duty posts while negotiations continue. Wages can never be satisfactory all over the world and human wants are insatiable. No matter what you earn, it can never be enough.”

While disclosing that no casualty had so far been recorded at the hospital due to the strike, Igwegbe however noted that the hospital was not in a hurry to hire help from outside, unless permitted by Abuja. The CMD was however optimistic of government soon resolve on the matter.

Meanwhile, chairman of the NAUTH chapter of JOHESU, Mr Ikenna Anahalu, and the secretary, Charles Nwoye, had in a statement explained that despite the agreement reached with federal government, that only some members of the union were paid 10 percent of Covid-19 hazard allowance instead of the agreed 50 percent while many were not paid anything at all.

The union leaders said there were preferential treatment in the handling of issues that affected the workers’ well-being. They vowed that they would rather go to prison than return to their duty posts until government paid every Kobo owed them.

They insisted that federal government must release funds to pay the arrears of differentials for 2015, 2016 and 2017 promotion allowances to their members. They complained that the payment of April and May, 2018, were still withheld and said that government had to pay up.

“Appointment of deputy chairman, medical advisory committee has continued to elude us. We ask that you impress on the NAUTH management to make such an appointment from among other health professionals other than medical and dental practitioners.

“The ADR of National Industrial Court of Arbitration rules that Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) salary scale should be adjusted in line with memorandum of understanding signed with the federal government. But to our chagrin the federal ministry of health is yet to implement the directives,” it said.

The union also demanded appointment of consultants and payment of specialist allowance to other health professionals. The members said this had been granted to them in the “ADR, but we are yet to be appointed.”

Afonja Descendants’ PG Blames Buhari For Nigeria’s Security, Economic Woes

The President-General, Afonja Descendants Union, ADU, Alhaji Olola Kasum, has said that the present economic situation in the country is a reflection of the rudderless Muhamadu Buhari led administration that has lost its bearing and focus.

Olola Kasum buttressed his point by reiterating that the just announced increase in tariff of essentials like power and fuel proves that the Buhari led administration in insensitive to the plights of Nigerians at a time that nations of the world are giving palliatives to their citizens to cushion the effect of the COVID- 19 pandemic that ravaged every sphere of life.

Speaking to our correspondent in Ilorin, on the state of the nation, Alhaji Olola kasum said: “The current phenomenal upsurge in sporadic and spasmodic armed – robbery activities and other related crimes in most urban cities of the country is as a result of the current comatose, dominant and riderless government under President Muhamadu Buhari. The federal government is, therefore, to blame for the insecurity of life and the dwindling economy.”

He made a comparison with the proverbial Emperor Nero of ancient Rome, whom he said delighted in fiddling while Rome burnt; adding that President Muhamadu Buhari, his hordes of deadwood technocrats and misguided advisers, who have persisted in pursuing negative economic, social and political policies that continue to accentuate rather that assuage the suffering of the ordinary man in the country.

He further expressed: “The basic needs of the average Nigerian consist of security of life, food, shelter, health, education and pursuit of freedom and happiness. All over the world, satisfaction of these basic human needs constitutes the primary responsibility of any elected government worth its salt. The oath of office sworn to on 29th May 2019 by President Muhamadu Buhari is a serious undertaking to provide unfaltering, dynamic and selfless leadership to the masses in acquiring these dividends of democracy.

“The most recent and classic example of anti-Nigeria people policy is the decision by federal government to lift the fluke fuel subsidy; while at the same time contemplating salary and allowances bonanza for public servants. The former is bedeviled with the prospect of generating spiral inflation in the country; while the latter will widen the gab between the affluent few and the poor down- trodden majority.”

The Afonja leader flawed the defences made by the federal government over its unpopular policies calling it “puerile and feeble argument” adding that the fuel subsidy makes the Nigerian fuel price soar in a way that masses pay more than they could bear.

He also added his voice on the said the breakup from Arewa Consultative Forum by some middle belt elements to form the North Central Peoples Forum saying it is a welcome development.

He said: “The issue of allying Kwara with the core north has been a geopolitical misplacement. There are sixteen local governments in Kwara, fourteen are Yoruba speaking people. From Jebba down south is a Yoruba settlement. We don’t belong to ACF. Only people from the core Kwara North should be in ACF. We have been agitating for the breakup for a long time. Even with the North Central Peoples Forum we are still being denied union with our people.”

COVID-19: 700,000 Households Vulnerable In FCT – Report

FCT Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, has revealed that with the validation of the social register, the FCT Administration has identified over 700, 000 vulnerable households in the territory.

In a statement by Austine Elemue, SA Media to the FCT Minister of State, the minister made this revelation during the presentation of a scorecard of the palliative distribution by a coalition of COVID-19 Civil Society Organisations Emergency Intervention Group. The group, however, scored the FCTA high on the distribution of palliatives, and acknowledged that there was more that meet the eyes during the palliative exercise.

Aliyu also stressed that the scorecard would further guide the action of the administration, especially during emergency situations; adding that the administration would not wait for any emergency before reaching out to the vulnerable.

While commending the Civil Society Organisations, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths and other stakeholders in joining hands to make the exercise a success, the minister also noted that the COVID-19 brought the real function of a mother to bear.

In her words: “During the very tough and trying period of COVID-19 pandemic, I will confess to you that it seems things have fallen apart, and the centre could not hold. Fortunately for us, we had able bodied men and women, who defied all odds and showed willingness to work. Honestly speaking, people may ask how much were you paid. It was done pro bono, no budget line; but you were willing to risk it across to the targeted beneficiaries.

“We draw up our template, and a more encompassing and more reaching template with men and women of the civil society organisations, and put concerted efforts to ensure that they were in all places in all the committees.

“Many attimes, when you work and put in the best you can, you are not in the best position to score yourself. We are proud to say, indeed, that some people out there did not only go out to distribute the palliative, but also made efforts to look into what we were doing without fear or favour, and scored us as it was. This to you is a scorecard, but to me, it is a validation of my dreams.

“This can serve as a guide to what we need to do further. With the pandemic in place, we were able to work harder; we found that the social register was validated. Today, we have over 700, 000 vulnerable households, because during the time of the pandemic, we used the definition of vulnerability to mean the very poor in the hinterland, those that are not earning anything from government revenue and without a source of income.

“But later, it was clear to us that there is more that meet the eyes. Even the so called salary earners become vulnerable due to COVID-19 and the pressure of the lockdown. And that brought about the new template. God’s willing, we can boast that the Federal Capital Territory is used as a standard to other states”.

On his part, the FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola, thanked the civil society groups for not abandoning the administration in times of need, stressing that the report would not only inspire the Minister of State, but also the entire administration.

Adesola, however, harped on team work saying: “We must join hands together to build the territory of our dreams. You cannot walk with one leg, but you need the two legs to walk. If you have abandoned the distribution of the palliative, nobody would have believed that palliative was distributed because we live in an era where nobody believes anything. But you are our testimonial, you have spoken.”

In her presentation, the national coordinator, COVID-19 CSOs Emergency Intervention Group, Dr. Jophia Nanker Gupar, said though, the palliative did not get to everybody, yet, every community in the territory received the palliative.

She thanked the administration for the opportunity to serve the rural people and to participate especially in an intervention programmes like the COVID-19 pandemic.

In line with concerted efforts at ensuring public order and safety, during the forthcoming Edo Gubernatorial election slated to hold on Saturday, 19th September, 2020, the Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni has ordered the restriction of vehicular movement from 11:59PM on Friday, 18th September, 2020 – 6pm on Saturday, 19th September, 2020.

The IGP notes that the restriction order is informed by the need to prevent the free flow, circulation and use of illicit arms and hard drugs and checkmate the movement of political thugs and touts and other criminally-minded individuals especially from contiguous States from hijacking and disrupting the electoral processes.

He enjoins citizens to go out en-masse on the day of the election and vote, noting that the Police and other security agencies have been sufficiently mobilized to provide a safe, secure and conducive environment for the election.

Ugwuanyi Hails IGP Abubakar For Additional Police Area Command In Enugu

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has expressed the immense gratitude of his administration to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, for approving the permanent site of the Police Area Command Headquarters, Orba, in Udenu Local Government Area of the state, to enhance the security of the area and its jurisdiction.

Speaking when he inaugurated the Police Area Command Headquarters, Orba, on Thursday, Gov. Ugwuanyi, who disclosed that his administration diligently funded the permanent site project, to its present state, acknowledged the former Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, now Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 13, AIG Danmallam Mohammed, “for the traction he gave to this project”.

The governor also appreciated the present State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Abdurrahman, “for all his support and encouragement for the project”.

Gov. Ugwuanyi explained that the Police Area Command, Orba was created out of Nsukka Police Area Command on December 5, 2017, by the then Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, to cater for the policing needs of Igbo-Eze North, Udenu, Isi-Uzo, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Areas, as well as Nsukka East Development Centre, which is part of Nsukka LGA.

He stated that the increasing number of Police Officers and Men of the Command made it imperative for the provision of adequate permanent site for the Police Area Command, Orba, adding that, consequently, the great people of Ohom Orba donated about three hectares of land, hitherto given to the former Police Mounted Troops Command in the immediate post-civil war period, for the all-important project.

Gov. Ugwuanyi, who expressed delight at the actualization of the permanent site of the Police Area Command Headquarters in Orba, expressed optimism that the feat will change the security narrative within its area of jurisdiction.

While also commending the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Edwin Ogbeghagha, for his pioneering role as the first Area Commander, the governor also appreciated “the great visionary people of Ohom Orba for willingly donating their valued land for the development of Police Area Command Headquarters, Orba, without seeking compensation”.

According to the governor, “My gratitude also goes to the President General, Orba-Udu General Assembly, Mr. Charles Mba, Permanent Secretary, Enugu State Local Government Service Commission and his entire Executive Committee members for coordinating and mobilizing local support for this project”.

In his brief remark, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abdurrahman, who described Gov. Ugwuanyi as “a pillar of all pillars, an exceptional leader and a security-friendly governor”, applauded his sound vision for Enugu State and his firm commitment to security of lives and property.

The CP therefore prayed for Gov. Ugwuanyi’s success in his responsibilities, disclosing that the governor has accepted to bring more infrastructures in the new Police Area Command, for enhanced efficient service delivery.

Other speakers at the event, such as the Chairman of Udenu LGA, Hon. Solomon Onah, the Area Commander, ACP Ogbeghagha, and the President General, Orba-Udu General Assembly, Mr. Mba, thanked Gov. Ugwuanyi for providing the needed support to all security agencies in the state, stressing that his administration’s contributions towards the successful realization of the new Police Area Command, Orba, aimed at enhancing the security architecture of its area of jurisdiction and beyond, were commendable.
