THE PRINCIPLE OF THE FIRST FRUIT
BIBLE READING: DEUT 26:3-10
“Honour the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;” Proverbs 3:9 NKJV
When Cain and Abel offered sacrifices to God, the bible says that Cain gave of the produce of his fields but Abel gave of the firstfruits of his lambs. God had respect for Abel’s sacrifice but none for Cain’s. “And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.” Genesis 4:3-5 NKJV
God had respect for Abel’s sacrifice because Abel gave God the very first of his lambs. He showed God that he valued God above his profits and above the things he had. He showed God through his actions that God was first in his life and that is what the principle of the firstfruits represents. Cain gave God of the fruit of the ground but there was nothing special about it, it was probably not the best of the harvest and as such, God rejected him and his sacrifice.
As the new year begins, let us put God first in everything. Let us show him that he takes priority over every area of our lives. Let us give him the first. When we give Him the first, and His blessing rests on it, then the rest will be blessed. “For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.” Romans 11:16 NKJV
The principle of the first fruits is God’s way of inculcating in us the habit of prioritizing Him and making Him the first in all things. In line with this, you need to join in the fast as it begins, and give God the firstfruits of the first month of the year, that way, every other month in the year will be blessed. In the same way, give Him the firstfruits of your substance; salary, first profit, etc., this year and all the others in the year will be blessed.
ACTION POINT:
Repent if you have not been honouring God and giving Him the rightful place in your life, finances, time, thoughts, etc. Ask God for grace for for full and prompt obedience going forward in Jesus Name.

A man who recently acquired a fake iPhone 11 for the sum of N17,000 has taken to social media to share his heartbreaking experience.
According to the man, he spent the sum of N17,000 to purchase an Apple product worth over 300,000, at a roadside. However, the man lamented as the phone greets him with “Welcome” and “Bye-Bye” when powered on and off respectively.
According to the aggrieved victim identified as Bassey Imoh; he had purchased the iPhone 11 at a roadside plaza for the sum of N17,000. Unfortunately, he got home and discovered that he was sold a fake version.
The new gadget greets him with “Welcome” and “Bye-Bye” when he switches the phone “ON” and “OFF” respectively.

HOW FAR CAN YOU SEE?
BIBLE READING: GENESIS 13:14-18
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV).
The New Year/Decade ushers in new hopes, new expectations, and new zeal to engage and conquer. In this season of the year, people take some time to make sober evaluations of their performances in the previous year. They also map out fresh strategies for heights to conquer in the New Year.
It is only fair that you embrace this New Year/Decade with a heart bustling with gratitude and thanksgiving unto God. The challenges you encounter on your journey to destiny should only make you tougher, wiser and more determined to excel. Most often, it is in the midst of such challenges that the grace of God is availed to you in unimaginable dimensions.
Before separating from Abraham, Lot took what could be called the choice portion of the land. After that, God appeared to Abraham and said to him, “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are-northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever” (Genesis 13:14-15 NKJV). God is saying the same thing to you right now.
Help awaits you at every junction in this New Year. Where you did well in the past, you will do even better. Where you did not do so well, grace is now available for you to excel. Moreover, fresh, unimagined frontiers are opening up to you. Just remain sensitive and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Welcome to a Blessed New Year/Decade of Obedience/ Discipleship and Development.
Are you Christian or a disciple? Remember, disciples obey and obedience based discipleship is what the Lord requires because if we love Him, we must keep His commandments. Selah
PRAYER POINTS:
• Thank God for His mercies and blessings in the past year.
• Dedicate your life and plans to Him in this New Year/Decade and ask for His help to be an obedient disciple.
• Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you all through the year.
CONFESSION:
I step into the most blessed and most glorious year/decade of my life so far. Everywhere I turn I find grace, mercy and favour.
