Army To Launch Operation Fireball Against Boko Haram, To Switch Over To War Mode by Lifediary

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has said the launching of “Operation Fireball,” is the final onslaught against Boko Haram insurgency. The over a decade long insurgency has claimed 32,000 lives with property worth about N3.42 trillion in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.

Announcing the new operation at the weekend in Maiduguri during the concluded Combined Conference of Chief of Army Staff, he said: “We are approaching a crucial phase in our counter-terrorism operations in the Northeast with Operation Fireball.”

He said the new operation would be extended to insurgents’ hideouts of Sambisa Forest, Mandara Mountains and the Lake Chad region.

“My recent directive on the relocation of AHQ DATOPS and AHQ DOAL to the Northeast Theatre is geared towards ensuring that AHQ provides maximum support to the operation,” he said.

Buratai added that he issued the COAS Special Order, specifically, for troops to switch over to a war mode.

“This is necessary for the final destruction of the criminal insurgents,” he declared. He, therefore, charged courageous and exemplary leadership to be displayed at all levels, as highlighted during the conference panel discussion.

“No excuse will be tolerated in the accomplishment of Operation Fireball objectives to end war,” he warned.

He equally told field commanders not to rest on their oars, as there is the need to maintain a positive disposition and attitude toward improving on ongoing operations.

Segun Showunmi Supports Endsars, Asks Police To Release Arrested Protesters

The time is now for us to have a police force that makes sense, we have embarrassed ourselves for too long. #endsarsnow https:///dtC1pWaIYg

It has come to my attention that young people who came out to protest the #endsars in Abeokuta have been arrested and taken to the force headquarters in Eleweeran. Peaceful Protest is the right of a free people, especially in a democracy.

It will be my advice that the Nigerian Police Force should not make a tensed situation worse. To the protesters, your message has been heard, loud and clear. And to the security agencies, decency and restraint must be the watchword.

Ebonyi NSCDC Nabs 3 For Alleged Impersonation

The Ebonyi Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has arrested three persons for alleged impersonation and fake job offer.
The State Commandant of the corps, Lucy Samu, made the disclosure in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Paul Odimba, in Abakiliki on Sunday.

Samu said that the suspects were arrested, following a tip-off, for allegedly deceiving unsuspecting members of the public with “fake employment opportunities”.
According to the statement, the suspects (all adults) impersonated and deceived the public with fake job opportunities into the Ebonyi Fertilizer and Chemical Company.

“We want to assure the government and people of a thorough investigation into the matter while our legal team will offer advice on the way forward,” she said.
The General Manager of the company, Mrs Emerald Ude-Akaji, said her office received several reports of alleged ongoing employment in the company by a syndicate through a widely circulated notice.

Ude-Akaji, who is also the Special Assistant to the Governor on Fertilizer Development, said she commenced investigation into the matter and decided to “play along” with the syndicate in order to bust it.
“My personal assistant called them to indicate his interest and they gave him an appointment which he honoured with a team of NSCDC personnel attached to us.

“We saw lots of unsuspecting applicants, who turned up for the job offer and the NSCDC personnel subsequently arrested members of the syndicate.
“It is left for those arrested to explain whether they are leaders of the syndicate or people hired to work for it,” Ude-Akaji said.

One of the suspects told NAN that they were not members of a syndicate but staff of Golden Neolife Diamite International (GNLD) Company, which deals in agro-based products and food supplements, amongst others.
“Our company offers employment to people through the purchase and marketing of its products because we also deal in organic fertilizers (liquid).

“The notice of employment, which we placed indicated a ‘fertilizer company’ and not Ebonyi Fertilizer Company,” the suspect said on the condition of anonymity.
The suspects said that they had contacted their management, saying that the company “does not deceice people with offer of fake employment”. (NAN)

Enugu CP Denies Report On Killing Of SARS Operatives, Attack On Station

The Enugu Police Command has described the story that six members of a Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) were killed during an attack on SARS’ office in the state as “malicious falsehood”.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Daniel Ndukwe, stated this in a statement issued in Enugu on Sunday.
Ndukwe quoted the Commissioner of Police (CP), Ahmad Abdulrahman, to have advised the public to disregard the story allegedly published in some online media.

“The attention of the Enugu state command has been drawn to a malicious falsehood making the rounds on social media that gunmen attacked SARS police station, killed six of their men, while many sustained bullet wounds and the station set on fire on October 6.

“The CP entreats the general public to completely disregard such malicious falsehood being peddled by mischief-makers as such did not happen in SARS Office or anywhere in the state.

“The commissioner wonders why anyone or group of persons will be so disgruntled, mischievous and found time to conjure-up such unthinkable and malicious falsehood, capable of causing tension in the peaceful state,” the statement added.

The PPRO stated that the police boss had directed “discreet investigation to fish out the peddlers of the misleading information.”
He reassured residents of the area of adequate security and urged them “not to panic over such unfounded news but go about their lawful businesses.”

“Residents of the state have been urged to remain law-abiding and guard against the spread of such falsehoods,” Ndukwe further stated.
He also implored the people to report suspected masterminds of the story to the nearest police station or through the following command’s hotlines: 08032003702, 08086671202, 08075390883, 08098880172. (NAN)

"Those who have not crossed the river yet should not laugh at those who are drowning"

Meaning:

You have never been to war before and you are laughing at those who are losing on the battlefield? You have never sat for that exam and you are making fun of those who failed it? You have never raised a child before and you are making mockery of someone's failure to bring up a child well? Are you kidding me? So if you know how to win a fight why haven't you won a fight before. If you know how to pass an exam why haven't you passed one yourself? And if you know how to raise a child , why haven't you done so yourself? Any fool can sit back and laugh at others who are trying to do something with their lives. It takes real courage to do something useful with one's life. Don't be so quick to think that you would be better at what others are trying or have tried to do. You may be surprised at what fool you may make of yourself if you were in others shoes. If you have not walked in a shoe dont laugh at how someone walks in it. Be calm!
