Serial nicknamed lucifer murdered 48 inmates during his 25 years behind bars.

Marcos Paulo da Silva, 42, was first put in prison when he was 18-years-old for stealing, but soon emerged as a vicious killer who has been known to decapitate and disembowel his victims

A serial killer nicknamed 'Lucifer' has been accused of murdering 48 other inmates during his 25 years behind bars.

The extent of Marcos Paulo da Silva's violence has earned him comparisons to Britain’s most dangerous prisoner, Charles Bronson.

The 42-year-old Brazilian was just 18 when he was first incarcerated for petty theft in 1995 but soon emerged as a vicious killer.

He is said to have murdered five inmates in one go in Serra Azul Jail in Sao Paulo in 2011 in one of his most bloodiest attacks to date.
His signature is to cut his victims’ heads off and disembowel them after killing them.

Da Silva will likely die behind bars after racking up multiple convictions and sentences totalling 217 years - although he has yet to be tried for many of his alleged crimes.

Da Silva is said to have told a judge recently: “I have no regrets about killing all these people.
“They were rapists and thieves who took advantage of other inmates and robbed them.”

His astonishing prison history was laid bare in a recent report by Brazilian online firm UOL which has been picked up by newspapers in South America as well as Portugal.

He has been described as the leader of a gang of assassins created with the mission of murdering members of the PCC, one of Brazil’s leading gangs formed by inmates as a self-protection group in the country’s brutal prison system.
Prison guards told UOL it was only a “question of time” before da Silva, covered in tattoos which include skulls, devils and a Swastika, kills again once he is transferred to a new prison.

He switched allegiances and turned against PCC after joining the gang as a 19-year-old following his first teenage conviction.

He reportedly used a fire extinguisher to knock his Serra Azul Prison victims unconscious before beheading them with a home-made knife in his most infamous jail massacre to date.

He is said to have yelled: “I love this, there’s so few, I want to kill more prisoners” as he snubbed out their lives.

The number of prisons willing to take him is now drying up. Psychologists say he is not mentally ill but does suffer from a personality disorder that needs to be urgently treated.

Papers Filed Against Tinubu, Alpha Beta Burnt In Court —lawyer

The lawsuit instituted against All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, and tax consultancy firm, Alpha Beta Consulting, by a former Managing Director of Alpha Beta, Dapo Apara, has suffered a setback due to the burning of the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere in the wake of the #endsars protests.

Apara’s lawyer, Mr. Tade Ipadeola, stated this during an interview with The PUNCH on Tuesday.

He said, “Everything in Igbosere High Court got burnt including the registrar’s copy of our application. In fact, the whole building was burnt to ashes. So, we will have to file again. The registry has been moved to Ikeja.

“We may have to file the case afresh at the Ikeja High Court but we have not yet been instructed to do so.”

Apara had sued the company, Tinubu and the current Managing Director of the firm, Akin Doherty.

In the writ of summons marked LD/7330GCMW/2020, Apara asked the respondents to appear within 42 days or judgment may be given in their absence.

Apara had in his statement of claim stated that Tinubu controlled the company which was receiving 10 per cent of the taxes collected on behalf of the state.

The former MD said as the head of the company, he began looking into its finances and he made many startling discoveries such as mysterious transfers of over N20bn to various companies.

He stated, “N550million payment to Ocean Trust Ltd vide payment instruction dated the 15/5/18 N850million payment to Ocean Trust Ltd vide payment instruction dated the 14/3/15.”

The claimant said N960 million was spent on purchasing HITV’s 300,000,000 shares.

Apara stated that Tinubu was furious that he was looking into the company’s finances and this led to his demotion and eventual exit.

However, Alpha Beta Tax consultancy firm, Alpha Beta LLP, denied allegations levelled against it by Apara, adding that he had diverted about $5m during his time as managing director by inflating a contract which was worth about $300,000 and then diverted a separate N6bn to personal use.

The firm said it had reported Apara’s alleged fraud to the appropriate authorities but he had refused to show up and rather remained in Dubai.

The firm said Apara’s allegations levelled against Tinubu were specious and diversionary.

FG DECLARES THURSDAY OCTOBER 29, 2020 PUBLIC HOLIDAY TO MARK EIDUL-MAWLID CELEBRATION

The FG has declared Thursday October 29, 2020 as Public Holiday to mark this year's Eidul-Mawlid Celebration in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (@raufaregbesola) who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated the Muslim faithful both at home and abroad for witnessing this year's occasion.

He enjoined them to imbibe the spirit of love, patience and perseverance which are the virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), adding that doing so would guarantee peace and security in the country.

The Minister admonished Muslims to follow the teaching of the Holy Quran in Chapter 4 Verse 59 which says: “O you who believe! Obey God and obey the Messenger, and those from among you who are vested with authority; and if you are to dispute among yourselves about anything, refer it to God and the Messenger, if indeed you believe in God and the Last Day. This is the best (for you), and fairest in the end”

Ogbeni Aregbesola enjoined Nigerians, particularly Muslims, at this moment, to abhor violence, lawlessness, wantonness and daylight robbery as witnessed across the country most recently, stressing that Nigeria is the pride of the black race and should provide responsible leadership for the greatness and development of the African continent and all black people.

While calling for a stop to all divisive tendencies across the country, he urged all Nigerians & the youth in particular, to embrace peace & cooperate with the President @MBuhari led-Administration in its effort to build a virile nation, which all citizens can be proud of.

Ogbeni Aregbesola who described the youth as the hope and future of the nation advised them further to deepen democracy and not dampen it. For him, it is with more democracy that we can overcome our challenges, noting that the challenges of nationhood that we face are surmountable if we work through the democratic process. He wishes all Muslims a happy Eidul- Mawlid Celebration and all Nigerians a Happy Holiday.

4 Nigerian Slangs Currently Making The Rounds On Social Media

Nigerians are engineered to find mirth in almost everything and so it is no surprise that amidst the nationwide protest to end police brutality, there has been a burst of witty memes, short videos and new slangs on social media.

The surprising thing is that these humour-based expressions in no way trivialized the ongoing protest. In fact, this funny clips serves the deeper function of educating people using the language they are conversant with; humour.

But slangs are the focus of this article.

It has been employed liberally in the last two weeks, so much so that one in every quip on social media is delivered with one or more of these humour bombs.

How are slangs created? According to popular opinion, slangs are coined by everyday people with an above-average, vocabulary signature that they have consciously altered to suit their need for an expanded expression.

And although they are often created by everyday people, they catch on only when deployed by celebrities or influential individuals.

So, we put together a few of the slangs currently making the rounds on social media to help you remember and maybe laugh a little.

SORO SOKE

If slangs had a military ranking, ‘Soro Soke‘ would be a brigadier general. It has been used so much by the protesting collective in the last two weeks that it is probably the most used hash tag after the END SARS hash tag.

This particular slang, roughly translated means ‘speak up’ and it became some sort of anger-based directive demanding a feedback or a vocabulary used to mock an unpopular opinion.

WAHALA BE LIKE BICYCLE

This slang or quip always comes from a place of humour, preceding a humourous situation, video or text.

It is some sort of preparation for a less than-stellar occurrence and using those lines help the audience know that someone has been placed on the ‘naughty’ scale and have been found wanting.

WEREY DEY DISGUISE

As far as cyber insults go, ‘Werey dey disguise’ tops the list of the vilest.

It is a choice insult, period. Roughly translated, it means ‘a mad man’s attempt to disguise.’

When used, the expression is always employed as a full-frontal verbal attack at another person’s exposed trickery.

Its delivery, when done by a seasoned internet troll, is a delight to see.

WE MOVE

This is a nudge to heed some form of clarion call. It received notoriety alongside its partner slang ‘soro soke’ with the rise of the #endsars movement, when it was used countless times in collaboration with it.

The term’s virality made it good enough to be hashtagged hundreds of times in the last two weeks.

‘We move’ is self explanatory and is an encouragement to advance, in spite of adverse circumstances.

Sam Adeyemi: Endsars Protesters Not Responsible For Destruction Of Property

1. Dear young citizen. It’s time for everyone to reflect. The massive destruction of properties in Lagos and other cities is so sad. Some want to blame you, but you must not buy that narrative. They know those that introduced violence. #endsars

2. Those that looted and destroyed property are also not part of you. They are products of a system that does not value its youths and has left them with little or no hope. They are part of the reason you raised your voice against injustice and want a new Nigeria.

3. What you did in less than a week was a phenomenon. Let me share how I see it. You attracted a mass following across all sectors within a short time because your cause is noble. No sane person should fault your call for justice.

4. Leadership experts believed for a long time that the best way to motivate people to move is to give them a vision of the ideal future. But it has not always worked. People prefer status quo to change.

5. In recent times, they have come to realise that it sometimes works better to tell the story of people’s pain: their livable experiences. You got this right. You generated impetus and galvanised people to act focusing on police brutality.

6.You overcame things that have divided our country and frustrated it’s development including ethnicity and religion, and put up a united front. You practically shared love instead of our culture of prejudice. That was a breakthrough.

7.The power gap between the leader and the led is high in most developing countries. That gap is low in most developed countries. You crushed that gap. You ran an efficient system on a flat structure. Your model of leadership facilitates development.

8.Your flat leadership structure meant no one was dominating another. As leaders you took responsibility and served one another. You were accountable and transparent, announcing income and expenses daily. These have not been part of our leadership culture.

9.You provided “stomach infrastructure”, meeting the basic needs for food and water. You provided healthcare with ambulance services. Some even got free haircuts on the street. Your organization was efficient.

10. You got quick wins. A governor came to meet you on the street (I commend him for this). SARS was dissolved and the government agreed to your 5for5 demands (I commend government for these).

11. Continue to call for a stop to the looting and destruction. Take a deep breath. You created a mini new Nigeria. How do you take things forward and scale up? Please, stay strong online, own your narrative by all means and keep your discussions going. #endsars

BREAKING: Army denies shooting #endsars protesters

The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army (NA) has denied allegation soldiers opened fire on #endsars protesters at the Lekki Toll Plaza last Tuesday.

In a statement by the Acting Director Army Public Relations (ADPR), Major Osoba Olaniyi, the Division however confirmed the involvement of soldiers in restoring order in Lagos following the declaration of curfew by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The Nation reports this is the first time the division is speaking about the incident that occurred last week.

It said: “The attention of Headquarters 81 Division Nigerian Army has been drawn to a viral video on social media in which it was alleged that civilian protesters were massacred by soldiers at Lekki Toll Plaza. This allegation is untrue, unfounded and aimed at causing anarchy in the country.

“At no time did soldiers of the Nigerian Army open fire on any civilian. From the onset of the ENDSARS protest, there was no time personnel of 81 Division Nigerian Army Lagos were involved.

“However, the decision to call in the military was taken by the Lagos State Government (LASG) after a 24- hour curfew was imposed.

“This was as a result of the violence which led to several police stations being burnt, policemen killed, suspects in police custody released and weapons carted away.

“The situation was fast degenerating into anarchy. It was at this point that LASG requested for the military to intervene in order to restore normalcy.

“The intervention of the military followed all laid down procedures for Internal Security operations and all the soldiers involved acted within the confines of the Rules of Engagement (ROE) for Internal Security operations.

“Finally, Headquarters 81 Division Nigerian Army reiterates Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities did not shoot at any civilian as there are glaring and convincing evidence to attest to this fact.

“This allegation is the hand work of mischief makers who will stop at nothing to tarnish the image of the Nigerian Army. The general public is hereby enjoined to discountenance this allegation as there is no iota of truth therein.”

Ebonyi Does Not Have Undistributed Palliatives – Umahi

After reported breaking of ware houses by hoodlums in some states of the federation in search of Covid-19 palliatives donated by federal government to states, Ebonyi state governor, David Nweze Umahi, on Tuesday, said the state does not have unshared COVID-19 palliatives.

Umahi spoke in Abakaliki during a state wide broadcast on the invasion of hoodlums, which has crippled business and other economic activities in the state.

Hoodlums, on Monday, invaded the state, set the Central Police Station, CPS, Onu Ebonyi, Abakaliki, ablaze and allegedly killed some police officers on duty, as well as traders from international market, who were hit by stray bullets.

Report have it that the suspected hoodlums were led by two dismissed police officers from the command, who were also gunned down by the police while exchanging bullets with them.

The governor explained that the state spent billions buying palliatives, which were shared polling units by polling units, irrespective of political alliances. He said: “We have shared all palliatives we bought for our people. You are aware that we spent billions buying palliatives, which we shared to you, polling unit by polling unit, irrespective of political alliances. We reached over 600,000 Ebonyians, including those in Lagos and Abuja, the little one left now is for our Ebonyi state university students, who were not in session.

“School has resumed; they have started carrying their items, the only items left are being taken now by students, and they are 50 bags of just 10kg rice, 200 bags of 20kg rice, 1,500 cartons of tin tomatoes, 2000 gallons of oil, 2000 cartons of noodles and these items for the students put together is not up to what we gave to polling units.

“We do not have any palliatives unshared. We have gone ahead with both the state and local government to make provision for the second phase of palliative slated for December”.

While sympathizing with victims of the CPS attack, he assured that the state would compensate all families whose loved ones were either injured or killed during by the invasion. He pleaded with the suspected hoodlums killing people in the name of IPOB to withdraw peacefully to their houses and allow peace to rain in the state.

He added: ”Let me apologise to you all for the crippling of our state activities by criminals and hoodlums, who came to loot and kill our people yesterday, Monday, 26th October, 2020. I offer my sincere condolences to security agents and traders, who lost their lives yesterday, when these criminals entered the state.

“On Tuesday, the 20th of October, 2020, those who invaded our state and destroyed our infrastructure came from outside. Yesterday, Monday, 26th October, 2020, those who came are Ebonyians from a particular village and a local government in the name of IPOB.

“We know these people; we know their fathers. Same people that abducted some policemen, who were on peace mission in their community sometime last year; even though the policemen were later released by my intervention. I have offered details here, so that you understand that we know you very well, and you are responsible for the killing and looting in your state, using the cover of IPOB. I refuse to buy into this, as a criminal is a criminal and criminality is criminality.

“I, therefore, appreciate our security agencies for their maturity and listening ear to me yesterday, not to retaliate. However, it is unconventional for people to invade a police station, burn the police station, kill the police people and take their guns. It is uncommon for you to attack the army, who were protecting you, strategic government assets too and yet, they remain unprovoked. Security agencies in the state have asked me to please plead with you to stop attacking them and burning their stations.

“Let me assure Ebonyians that more security agencies were deployed from outside the state last night and they have been deployed to protect you. Social-economic activities in Ebonyi state must return; now, go about your normal businesses in peace.

”To our children, who are hiding under IPOB to kill us, we do not deserve it; our government has done its best to give you good governance. Where we have failed as human beings, I here again, offer my apologies with a firm offer and promise to make amends with your inputs. Today, I plead with these young hoodlums killing us in the name of IPOB to withdraw peacefully to their houses. Security agencies must please, give them peace to do so. They must be allowed free access to return to their communities.”
