Christians Pray To Water Stain 'Shaped Like Virgin Mary' In Colombia

Pilgrims are flooding to pray for protection from Covid-19 at the foot of a water stain they believe is a representation of the Virgin Mary.

The "miracle" mark was first spotted on the wall of a car park outside a bakers in Bogota, Colombia, by a security guard doing his rounds.

It has now been transformed into a makeshift shrine - complete with flowers and candles - by locals desperate for help during the pandemic.

Bakery worker Lorena told the newspaper Noticentro: “Every day, between 50 and 60 people come here.

"Before buying something they visit the spot and pray, and somehow it is really important for them and us.”

She added that they believe it is a “miraculous figure” and not something created randomly by humidity as others are saying.

Lorena said that “it could not have been from a leak” and rejected claims it was wall damage insisting “it is a miraculous image”.

She added that no one at the bakers has been diagnosed with Covid-19 and therefore the Virgin Mary stain must be protecting them.

She said “that is exactly what most people pray for” adding that most devotees pray that they stay safe from the killer virus.

Colombia reported 7,612 new infections on Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases to 1.16m which includes 33,148 deaths.

It's not the first time a "holy" stain has caused a storm in Colombia.

In 2017, worshippers flocked to see a patch of algae growing under a leaking pipe that the were convinced looked like Mary.

Why DSS Ordered #endsars Promoters’ Bank Accounts Frozen - THEWILL

Fresh facts have emerged that the embargo placed on the bank accounts of some leading supporters of the #endsars protests was the result of an instruction from the Department of State Services (DSS).

THEWILL gathered authoritatively that it was the DSS which ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to freeze the bank accounts of 19 persons and a firm found to be backing the protests.

The security service was also said to have directed the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to stop several promoters of the protests from leaving or entering the country based on intelligence information that they were being used with or without their knowledge by both international and local conspirators to forcefully remove President Muhammadu Buhari from office.

Multiple sources familiar with knowledge of the development told THEWILL that DSS Director-General, Yusuf Bichi Magaji, who had been covertly monitoring the #endsars protests advised the Presidency to immediate accede to the demands of the protesters because it got real-time intelligence that some unidentified persons had infiltrated them and wanted to use the protests to instigate the removal of the president from office.

THEWILL further gathered that in the heat of the riots and tension that rocked the country, the DSS invoked national security concerns and asked the Central Bank to freeze the bank accounts linked to some promoters of the protests because it believed they were being used to funnel cash to keep the protests going in order to sabotage the federal government.

The accounts frozen are domiciled in First Bank Nigeria, Zenith Bank Plc., Guaranty Trust Bank Plc., United Bank for Africa Plc. and Fidelity Bank Plc.

The DSS, according to our sources, also directed the Immigration Service to prevent some persons linked to the protests from leaving or entering the country without clearance from the agency as part of its investigations.

The directives as expected have been greeted with uproar by Nigeria’s often restive youths, who make up the bulk of the #endsars protest.

“The freezing of the bank accounts of some persons with ties to the ENDSARS movement and their inability to travel is beyond the CBN and NIS. They were given direct orders by the Presidency in the name of national security and they must comply with such others. They cannot even debate such or ask questions over such. It is now beyond them and purely for the Intelligence agencies,” an intelligence source told THEWILL, on condition of anonymity.

The source added: “Let me also add that the CBN and the NIS cannot unilaterally lift these blockades even if they want to. They have no such discretion or powers. It is now way beyond them. I read the CBN went to court to secure an order to give it further legal backing and to probably protect the commercial banks from liabilities but the truth is that they do not even have to do that really.

“The Presidency has sweeping powers under National Security and any person or group that feels their rights have been infringed upon can go to court to seek redress. In most cases, the rulings by the court are based on evidence presented by the government.”

At least two persons who have been affected by the directive have sued. Bassey Israel, a Port Harcourt based pharmacist, who received donations for medical supplies through his Access Bank account has sued the bank, while Modupe Odele, who mobilized legal services for detained protesters, and had her international travel passport seized when she wanted to travel a few days ago, says she has sued the government.

IGP Adamu Seeks N24.8bn To Fuel Vehicles, Motorcycles

The Inspector-General of Police, Muhammad Adamu, on Tuesday said the Force would need N24.8bn to fuel its fleet of vehicles and motorcycles in a year.

He said this when he presented the 2020 budget performance and and defended the 2021 budget proposal before the House of Representatives Committee on Police.

Adamu said the police was being bogged down by the low envelope budgetary provisions.

“The implication is that under an ideal situation, the amount that has been reviewed cannot meet up with the requirement of policing the country.

“If you take for example, the daily fuel consumption for our vehicles; vehicles that have petrol engine take about N22.5bn to fuel it within the year.

“The motorcycles we have will require N834.4m to fuel. And those vehicles using diesel will require N4bn to fuel.

“So, if you compute this, with what has been proposed, fuel alone will take the chunk of the money that has been budgeted not to talk of maintenance. If we’re to maintain our vehicles and motorcycles, it’ll take about N8.04bn in a year,” he said.

He said the security issues, especially in the northeast and other parts of the north, affected the police entire operations coupled with other unanticipated crises like COVID-19 pandemic and destruction of police stations, commands, vehicles and other properties during the EndSARS protests.

He disclosed that, the 2021 budget estimate for the police was N469.4bn, but was scaled down to N449.6bn.

The chairman of the committee, Usman Bello Kumo, said: “There is no way the police as the biggest security outfit that mans the internal security of the country can be run with N11bn capital for 12 months in a financial year.”
