2023: Two Ministers Seek Buhari’s Seat

Despite the caution against distracting President Muhammadu Buhari, administration, two of his ministers are neck-deep in furthering their aspiration to occupy the Presidential Villa come 2023.

The same ministers who were implicated in the plot which led to the removal of the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, are battling for the soul of the party.

They have drawn the battle line and do not give a hoot about the APC zoning formula. Since what matters to them is the Villa seat, it is now like Macbeth: “fair is foul, foul is fair.” Sentry will soon unveil the affected ministers.

A DEPRAVED dad-of-two has admitted having sex with chickens and his own Great Dane dog.

Shane Waters, 40, carried out the sickening attacks after sneaking into a farm in Accrington, Lancashire.
The supermarket stock checker, who has previous convictions for abusing horses, was jailed for 30 months at Burnley Crown Court.

He was also banned from keeping animals for life.

Waters' abuse came to light after a farmer discovered a number of dead and injured birds in a chicken shed on September 19, 2020.

He feared “something sexual” had happened to them and called the RSPCA and checked the CCTV footage.

The video showed Waters prowling around the farm and leaving the barn at 11.40pm, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.

Officers arrested Waters on September 23, telling them: “I need help. I know what I have done. I just get these urges.”

During questioning Waters told police he had been on the farm on about nine previous occasions “but usually only had sex with one chicken”.

'SORDID SEXUAL ACTIVITY'
Barbara Webster, prosecuting, said: “He did not like performing the act and said sorry to the chickens after.”

A total of 15 chickens died because of Waters’ abuse, the court heard.

Waters also admitted to having intercourse with his pet Great Dane dog during a four-month period but said the dog "did not like it and growled and bit him".

Defending Waters, Anna Chestnut said Waters hoped to rebuild his life once he had been released from prison.

She said: “This is not the person he wants to be. He is thoroughly disgusted by his behaviour.”

Judge Dodd said: “As I understand it, at least 15 chickens died as a result of your sordid sexual activity.

“Those who kept the chickens are understandably horrified and appalled by what you have done.

“I have no doubt anyone hearing the details of this case will be disgusted.

“Your conduct is distressing and truly worrying, particularly in light of your previous convictions.”

The judge made an indefinite criminal behaviour order banning Waters from keeping animals, and made him subject to notification for life.

Oyigbo Chiefs Beg Army To Retain Soldiers

Tension has persisted in Oyigbo, the Local Government Area in Rivers State, which came under attacks by hoodlums identified as members of the disbanded Indigeneous Peoples of Biafra (IPO.

Chiefs in the council at the weekend expressed fears that the fleeing IPOB members could regroup and return to the area.

They recalled how members of the proscribed group hijacked the #endsars protest killing six soldiers, four policemen and destroying all police stations and a court among other things in the area.

The chiefs implored the Defence Headquarters not to withdraw soldiers deployed to restore peace in the Oyigbo to prevent remnants of IPOB from regrouping.

The chiefs under the aegis of Ogbakor Oyigbo, also urged persons, who deserted Oyigbo to return as normalcy had been restored.

High Chief, Eze Ukwu III, Louis Okorie, said they were not interested in the call by some persons to withdraw the troops.

He expressed serious concern that if soldiers were withdrawn from Oyigbo, IPOB anarchists would unleash violence in the area.

He said: “The Ogbakor Oyigbo General held a meeting here and said they will not allow the removal of soldiers from Oyigbo.

“On 12th of November, 2020 we met with the Local Government Chairman, Gerald Aforji, informing him of our plight. We don’t want Army to be withdrawn for the benefit of Oyigbo people.

“We need to be careful of the remnants of IPOB terrorists. We thank Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for imposing the curfew which has calmed down the situation in Oyigbo.”

Also,High Chief, Lisbery Onyegorom, narrated that indigenes of Oyigbo were still in shock following the wanton destruction unleashed on their community by members of the outlawed IPOB.

He said: “We were surprised by the level of destruction by the IPOB. We are Rivers State and Niger Delta people. Our people are not members of IPOB . I am not aware of any Oyigbo indigene who is a member. We don’t allow that.

“Now, that the IPOB members have killed some soldiers, all of them have run away. The Army is investigating and fishing them out . Most of the IPOB members arrested have given vital information about the remnants.

“We are in support of the Governor’s ban on IPOB activities across Rivers State and hoisting of IPOB Flag.”

Onyegorom frowned at allegation of extrajudicial killings levelled against the Army by some persons playing petty politics with the Oyigbo issue.

“We are solidly behind our Governor’s effort to maintain peace in Oyigbo. The Governor did not say, go and kill people. The Army came on a rescue mission . That’s what they came for.

“It is the deployment of the Army that give us comfort to remain here. For now, we hear of threat to protest again. Army is going nowhere. Let the Army stay until we are sure of peace in Oyigbo.”

“Those who ran away should come back. The Army is not chasing any body. Army is not killing any person. Let the Army stay, until we are sure peace has returned.”

On his part, the Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Prince Gerald Oforji said most of the negative reports were unfounded.

“Today, I am very happy for the visit by the Ovation family to assess the wanton destruction carried out on the 20 October by the IPOB. Today ,they have come to assess and see things for themselves based on lopsided information they have been getting concerning Oyigbo.

“I believe with what they have seen today, the world, can confirm that most of those negative information posted against Oyigbo, against Rivers State, are unfounded.”

Imo To Recover Oil Wells From Rivers

The efforts of the government of Senator Hope Uzodinma to boost the economy of Imo State has received a huge boost following the move by the government to recover some oil wells wrongly ceded to Rivers State.

Imo and her neighboring Rivers have been in a protracted battle over oil wells belonging to the state but for which Rivers State receives monthly allocation and other benefits.

It was gathered that the Rivers State government had frustrated previous efforts to resolve the issue, leading to the decision of the Imo State government under Uzodimma to intensify efforts towards recovering the oil wells through legal means.

Last Thursday, the deputy governor of Imo State, Prof. Placid Njoku, led a team of state officials to appear before the National Boundary Commission and submitted sensitive documents, including the survey plan of the state, with which to reclaim the disputed oil wells.

According to a release issued by the deputy governor’s media assistant, Ozioma Ukwuoma, the documents were submitted to the National Boundary Commission in the presence of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Surveyor Samuel Adeniran, and the Director-General of the National Boundary Commission, Surveyor Adaji Adamu.

Prof. Njoku, who is also the chairman of the Imo State Boundary Commission, was quoted to have urged the commission “to rise to the occasion and give justice to the people of Imo State, who have suffered untold hardship over the years as a result of the brazen denial of their God-given wealth which should have been used for their development but had been in the hands of the wrong state”.

Njoku stated that “the impact of recovering lost oil wells back to the state would become one of the greatest economic development strategy tools deployed in the last 30 years in Imo State as it would usher in increased fiscal and non fiscal revenue, increased foreign direct investment (FDI), increased local content participation that create thousands of job opportunities for Imo people as well as increase the influence of the state as an oil producing state”.

The delegation included the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr C.O.C Akolisa, the Special Adviser and Coordinator Oil and Gas, Rt. Hon. Goodluck Nanah Opiah, Oil and Gas expert, Dr. Chioma Njoku, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, Surveyor Uzoma John, and the Surveyor General of the State, Surveyor C.A.P. Anele.
