Adepoju: Why Argentina Defeated Super Eagles At USA ’94

Mutiu Adepoju, a member of the Super Eagle’s squad at the U.S.A. ’94 World Cup, on Wednesday, paid tribute to the legendary Diego Maradona, who died on November 25, describing the Argentine as one of the greatest to have ever played the game.

Adepoju in his tribute in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, said that the late football icon was only able to outwit his teammates during the World Cup showdown when they lost concentration.

Adepoju, who was nicknamed ‘headmaster’ because of his prowess in the air with precise nodding of the ball, was one of the central midfielders that faced Maradona during Nigeria’s second match at the World Cup.

Nigeria lost the match to Argentina after Claudio Caniggia struck twice in quick succession from Maradona’s assists, in the 22nd and 29th minutes of the keenly contested match, to cancel out Samson Siasia’s goal that was scored in the eighth minute.

While reflecting on the life and times of Maradona, Adepoju described him as one with incomparable skills and ingenuity on the field.

“Maradona was a great player no doubt, one of the greatest ever in football, and it is quite unfortunate that we have to lose him at that age.

“I was shocked when I heard about his demise, but as we know we will have to leave this world one day.

“Maradona was one of the legend of all times. He can singlehandedly create havoc for opposing team and win any game on his own. I just wish him eternal rest.

On what transpired during the showdown between Nigeria and Argentina at U.S.A. ’94 when the Eagles lost their second match to the Maradona captained side, after defeating Bulgaria in their opening match; Adepoju said that the loss was due to loss of concentration.

“It’s not that we are scared of Maradona when we faced him at U.S.A. ’94 World Cup, but we respect him as one of the best footballers in the world that can cause havoc to us.

“For me, playing against him, I was being respectful and very much aware of what he can do and we managed that very well if not for the loss of concentration at that moment.

“We are a quality side in our own right, and we really took care of him in the midfield and managed him very well, we cannot be more careful with such a great player.

“We knew that he can create problems for us and not that we were scared of him, but respect for his status as an experienced player and his personality. We had a good game against him,” he said.

Hundreds of Borno youths join militia group to defend their communities(photos)

Youths started forming these vigilante groups in June, 2012 in Maiduguri - the capital of Borno State and former seat of BH’s leadership - when they became fed up with BH’s incessant killings.

CJTF members patrol the streets armed with machetes, bows and arrows and sticks, identifying BH suspects, whom they turn in to the government security Joint Task Force (JTF). At times they also attack or even kill suspects themselves. Once a self-organized group, most members now receive US$113 per month from the Borno State government.

Sugar Mummy Story In Abuja: Man Shares His Experience (Pics)

A man identified as Brian Dennis has Shared what he passed through in a quest to get a sugar mummy in Abuja.

Read his words.

"One of the most popular misconceptions about Abuja is that there are plenty sugar mummies looking for young boys to spoil with their money in exchange for pleasure. Na big lie. Thread! !

I heard this lie so much that I started seeing every older woman who drives a big car as a potential sugar mummy material when I came to this town. I always in my best behavior around them, waiting to be noticed and approached. Nothing happened.

I was even helping some of them push their shopping trolleys in supermarkets when I noticed they needed help. Nothing come out. Nobody even asked me for phone number. I started thinking, Is it Jazz the other boys that have sugar mummies are using? Na wa.

Until one unfortunate Friday evening that I was having a drink by myself in a spot close to my house and I saw one light skinned thick woman in her late 40s pull up with a new RAV4.

She was also by herself and sat behind me. I thought it was a dream when the waiter brought a bottle for me and said that the woman at the table behind me sent the bottle for me. I turned behind and saw her staring lustfully at me. She smiled and I accepted the invitation. Cheap man like me. I sat with her and we started with short introductions of ourselves and started talking about random things.

She was divorced, never had a child and lived alone. My ear stand. By midnight, She offered to drop me off as I didn't drive but I told her I lived very close and could walk home so she suggested that she shows me her place so I can come visit anytime.

I didn't even think about it before entering the car like a lamb to the slaughter. We got to her apartment a few minutes later and she asked me to come inside. She was living well but I was not concerned about the aesthetics of her interior decoration. So many things were running through my mind.

Why did she ask me to come in? Maybe tonight na audition. She made me have a bath and I knew that my dreams of a sugar mummy had come to pass, I just had to impress her if I wanted to progress to the spoiling stage.

I sweated & worked all night and I was telling myself that let Newspapers not use me for "man dies in s3x romp" headline. When she finally slept, I was still awake and thinking to myself. So it is really true, sugar mummies are real and my life was about to be transformed by one. Wow. God is good.

In the morning she tapped me nicely, and I opened my eyes and saw her staring at me with love in her eyes, I smiled back and whispered good morning to her. " Good morning, Brian. Your money na N40k "" Oh, thank you. You're too kind ", I replied. 40k for just one night? I don blow be that na.

I thought I was the one being paid until she asked me: "Should I send my account number or you have cash?

Boko Haram: FG Will Determine Mercenaries’ Engagement —DHQ

The Defence Headquarters says the decision to engage mercenaries to assist the military in defeating the Boko Haram insurgency is squarely for the Federal Government to take.

It noted that the security forces cannot challenge the initiative, stressing that it was up to Nigerians and the government to contract the private army.

Following the killing of over 43 rice farmers in Zabarmari, Borno State, by Boko Haram insurgents last Saturday, Governor Babagana Zulum had demanded the engagement of foreign mercenaries to tackle the militants.

Endorsing Zulum’s demand, the governors of North-East states said the thought of hiring mercenaries to fight Boko Haram should be taken seriously.

But responding to a question from The PUNCH during the weekly briefing on the security operations across the country in Abuja on Thursday, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. John Enenche said the military had no business debating the proposal, adding that it was diligently prosecuting the war, and focused on victory.

He stated, “Request or proposal to engage mercenaries, that is at a very high level. The kind of armed forces and security agencies you have now is normally determined by the people.

”It (engagement of mercenaries) is not in our powers. It is a kind of force package; it is what the government wants. It is not for the military to begin to contend.”

“No armed forces anywhere will tell the people, ‘this is how we want to operate.’ The legislators, National Security Council, will decide on it,” he added.

When asked if the military was overstretched and overwhelmed as stated by the Chairman, Nigerians Governors Forum, Governor Kayode Fayemi, on Wednesday, Enenche said it is for the authorities to decide if this was true.

“It is not for the military to say, we are overstretched; I am not overstretched. If I say, I am overstretched, that means, I don’t want to work. And if I say, I am not overstretched, that means, I am under-utilised”, the general noted.

The media Coordinator said the armed forces and other security agencies have continued to deal deadly blows to insurgents and bandits in the North-East and North-West regions.

Baby Factory Discovered In Ogun (PHOTOS)

The police have discovered another baby factory in Ogun State.

DAILY POST reports that this is coming barely two days after one was discovered at Ofada area of the state.

Men of Ogun State Police Command said the baby factory was located at Lagos Street, Adesan in Mowe area of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ogun.

The state police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told DAILY POST that the discovery of the home followed a complaint from concerned residents of the area, who informed the police at Mowe divisional headquarters that a particular building located in their area was suspected to be a baby-making factory.

According to the residents, “most of the women seen in the building are always with pregnancy and whenever they were delivered, they hardly see them with babies.

“They stated further that from their observation, the babies are being sold,” Oyeyemi told DAILY POST.

On the strength of the information, the DPO of Mowe division, SP Marvis Jayeola, had led his men to the area where a man suspected to be working for the operator of the home was arrested with four women and four children.

One of the women, the police said, is heavily pregnant, as one of them was said to have just been delivered of a baby, which was suspected to have been sold.

According to the police, preliminary investigation revealed that the home is strongly linked to the same Mrs. Florence Ogbonna, who was described as “a notorious baby factory operator who had earlier been arrested for similar offence and has her case pending in court.”

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered that the said Florence Ogbonna be searched for and arrested as soon as possible.
