Man Calls Out Teacher Who Always Flogs, Vows Never To Forgive Him

A Facebook user, Kevin Tita, has taken to his timeline to narrate what he passed through in the hand of a school teacher, states that the I'll treatment melted upon him by the teacher affected his self esteem and vows never to forgive the teacher. He wrote.

"This is the man that drove me to deep depression that I have found it very hard to overcome till date since high school. This man had a special hatred and disgust for me right till even after I left the school and came back to visit when he slapped me coz I won’t bow down to greet him and our girls matron whom I believe he was ****ing at the time.

You don’t know the effect of your actions on a child’s mind, you think you are being a bad ass teacher mean while you are affecting kids in a way that can destroy their self confidence growing up. I haven’t forgiven, I will never forget. Worst thing is that this animal had favorites in the class whom he doesn’t touch and he protects but those of us he felt weren’t good enough to be on his list, or those of us whose parents won’t give him money or goodies when they come visiting, we got it the worse from this devil right here.

You won’t die well Mr. Ben, there’s no amount of apology that can fix this. I have mental scars I have to live with, I didn’t end up a useless child like you always told the class I will when ever u want to flog me. I remember and appreciate every teacher that cared enough to understand when a student is acting out, it’s coz there’s something wrong in their life and family, but fools like this saw weak students as punching bags and logs of wood he can use to practice what ever fighting style he was dishing out back then. I didn’t learn a single thing this animal taught in class coz he would always show up to class with a bunch of sticks he would use to flog students till none was left, how can a child learn under these circumstances?

Other kids that were victim to this imp might have forgiven but every time I come across his profile. I am reminded of one of the people that tried to make me feel like I won’t be anything when I grew up. And to any of our class mates that have a different experience with this mumu and want to come and advice me, I will block u right away, it’s been 11yrs since high school, I don’t miss any of you and I definitely won’t be coming to no ****ing high school reunions anyways as long as First Baptist High School is concerned. I don’t have time for nonsense"

Nigeria Resumes Petrol Import From China

Nigeria, Africa’s biggest oil producer and exporter, has resumed importation of petrol from China, the world’s top crude oil importer. shocked

The Asian country shipped 37,000 metric tonnes of petrol to Nigeria in September for the first time since July 2019, data from General Administration of Customs showed, according to S&P Global Platts.

China, a major exporter of transportation fuels, has extended exports to Africa in recent years.

The first African country to receive Chinese petrol was Togo in April 2018 at 50,000 mt, followed by Nigeria in January 2019 at 51,000 mt, historical GAC data showed.

The most recent diesel exports from China to Africa were in June, with Kenya and South Africa receiving 40,000 mt and 35,000 mt, respectively, according to the data.

China’s annual crude oil imports increased by 0.9 million barrels per day in 2019 to an average of 10.1 million bpd, according to the United States Energy Information Administration.

The EIA said China’s new refinery capacity and strategic inventory stockpiling, combined with flat domestic oil production, were the major factors contributing to the increase in its crude oil imports in 2019.

Last year, China’s refinery capacity increased by 1.0 million bpd, primarily because two new refining and petrochemical complexes came online with capacities of 0.4 million bpd each.

As a result, the country’s refinery processing also increased to an all-time high in 2019, averaging 13.0 million bpd for the year, according to the EIA.

Transport Ministry Complies With FOI Request On $1.96 Billion Kano-Mardi Rail

The Federal Ministry of Transport has responded to a Freedom of Information, FOI request by former 2nd Vice-President of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Mr. Monday Ubani and Lagos-based lawyer, John Nwokwu for detailed information of the $1.96billion Kano-Niger Republic rail project.

Ubani and Nwokwu had last month sought details of the controversial rail project using the FOI Act insisting that Nigerians deserve to know amongst other things the economic benefits of the project, including the funding mechanism.

In what appears to be a clear departure from government agencies’ usual dismissal of FOI request, the Ministry last week responded to the demand and gave more details of the project.

On the cost of contract, the Federal Ministry of Transport insisted that the actual cost of the project is USD 1,959,744,723,71 (One Billion, Nine Hundred and Fifty Nine Million, Seven Hundred and Forty Four Thousand, Seven Hundred and Twenty Dollar and Seventy one Cent) inclusive of 7.5% VAT.
They confirmed that the track length of the rail is 378km starting from Kano – Danbatta – Kazana – Daura – Meshi – Kastina – Jibiya – Maradi (Niger Republic) with branch line to Dutse in Jigawa State. It also confirmed that only 20km of the track length is within Niger Republic while 358km is within Nigeria.

On the awarded contract documents and names of the firm and procedures for bidding, the Ministry said it advertised for qualified contractors to bid for the project in two national newspapers in 2018 and submission of the RFQ closed by 12 noon on the 19th of June, 2018.

Part of the response from the Ministry reads “Evaluation of RFQ commenced on the 5th of July, 2018 and ended on 9th of July, 2018. Following the exercise, seven out twelve companies that responded to the RFQ were shortlisted and issued Request for Proposal (RFP) on the 31st of July, 2018. Bids were subsequently opened on the 30th August, 2018 at FMoT
“Mota-Engil Africa in line with the ICRC guidelines and Public Procurement Act, 2007, was recommended as the preferred bidder for the Project haven been ranked first for submitting an excellent response to the RFP, and providing all the required information.
It also had good financial and technical credentials responsive to the project requirements and has relevant experience in Africa and emerging economies.”

The FOI response also stated that FMoT, the federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning and Mota-Engil Africa are negotiating the Contract Agreements and financing at the moment.

On budgetary allocation for the rail project, the Ministry claimed in its response that the project is to be 100% funded by Messrs Mota-Engil Africa under an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Financing (EPC+ F) model through combination of lenders from Export Credit Agencies (ECA) and commercial facilities backed by a sovereign guarantee.

It however failed to provide any Memoradum of Understanding or agreement between the Fedral Ministry of Transportation and MotaEngil to this effect.

Enumerating the economic benefits of the project, the Ministry said its study estimates a total cost of road accidents saved per year is USD 57,224,095. Other economic benefits according to the Ministry include, saving from greenhouse gases reduction, saving in road maintenance and promotion of Intra Africa Trade.

Ubani in a statement made available to this medium commended the unusual timely response of the Ministry, he however added that he would study the response along with his partners to fashion out the best possible response. The method of funding and the liability of the funding on Nigerians, to him, appear suspicious.

According to him the contract papers were not provided by the Ministry in clear compliance with the Freedom of Information Act.

Their detailed response to this information as provided by the Ministry shall be made public soon after critical study, he concluded.

Muhammad Babandede: Ugwuanyi’s Commitment To Security Exceptional

The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, has described Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State as a “great man” and “an all-rounder” who has demonstrated enormous commitment towards the security of lives and property in the state.

Babandede who spoke when he led his entourage to the Government House, Enugu, on Thursday, stressed that Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration has been of great support to the Nigeria Immigration Service.

The Comptroller-General was in Enugu with his entourage to assess the degree of damage done to the newly constructed office of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Enugu State Command, during the hijacked EndSARS protests in the state.

Appreciating Gov. Ugwuanyi for his administration’s support towards the completion of the office project, which he said was billed for inauguration a day before the EndSARS destructions, Babandede disclosed that the state government “donated four transformers and vehicles to us”.

He pointed out that “the vehicles were not only donated to us but also to all the law enforcement agencies so that security of lives and property of the people is assured in Enugu State”, saying: ‘We commend you (Ugwuanyi) for that good job”.

The Immigration boss who maintained that “the people of Enugu State are peace loving” commiserated with the state government and families of victims of the hijacked EndSARS protests, both civilians and security agents, who lost their loved ones during the unfortunate incident.

Assuring that the Immigration office will be inaugurated, Babandede equally applauded Gov. Ugwuanyi for setting up an Administrative Panel of Inquiry to look into the loss of lives and destruction of private and public property during the protests, stating: “That shows that you care”.

Responding, Gov. Ugwuanyi regretted that the sad events of loss of lives and destruction of property by hoodlums during the EndSARS protests were in spite of the state government’s earlier constitution (by Executive Order) of Panel of inquiry on Police brutality and related extra-judicial killings.

While noting that the South East governors and other stakeholders had conducted extensive tour of affected facilities in the state to assess the level of damage, the governor said that they paid due attention to the Immigration office and “we were grateful to God for the minimal damage”.

Gov. Ugwuanyi expressed delight at the quality of service and advisory the state office of the Immigration service has continually availed the state and reiterated his administration’s willingness to partner the body in the discharge of its mandate which is key to robust internal security.

Members of the Comptroller-General’s entourage include the Assistant Comptroller-General (General Services), Don O. Asogwa, the Assistant Comptroller-General, Zone G, J. C Kwazu, and the Comptrollers of the five states of Zone G, among others.

Heavy Gunshots As NANS Convention In Abuja Turns Bloody, Many Injured

Heavy gunshots on Thursday rocked the ongoing national convention of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), in Abuja.

CAMPUS GIST reports that the convention is holding at the Old Parade ground, Area 10, Garki, Abuja.

The student leaders are meeting to elect a new set of executives to pilot the affairs of the Union for the next one year.

The outgoing president, who was recently suspended, Danielson Bamidele Akpan, held on to the office for over two years refusing to hand over power.

Trouble was said to have started on Thursday as a coordinator of the NANS from one of the zones with faction, brought in armed men as accreditation was on.

Upon arrival, CAMPUS GIST gathered that the armed suspected cultists engaged the men of the Department of State Security (DSS) on ground in gun battle.

Some of the DSS officials were said to have taken to their heels and retreated as they were almost outnumbered by the armed cultists.

Over 20 persons were said to have been injured, with one in danger zone taken to the nearest hospital. Normalcy later retired past 11 midnight as the student leaders returned to the venue to continue the election.

It was gathered that security was reinforced as soldiers from Abuja had to be sent to provide security in addition to the DSS officials on ground.

An official of the NANS Convention Planning Committee (CPC), Adamu Kabir, in a tweet sighted by CAMPUS GIST Thursday night, described the gun battle as “normal” in NANS.

“This sporadic shooting is an annual ritual that must be observed in order to test the ruggedity of candidates contesting for NANS presidency,” Kabir, better knowns as Karoll, said.

Another student leader on the convention ground, who spoke to CAMPUS GIST on the condition of anonymity, attributed the shootings to interest from various groups.

He accused the ruling All Progressives Congress and the presidency of sponsoring a particular presidential candidate and providing him security cover to intimidate others.

The student leader also accused a second term governor of the ruling party from the South West region, of trying to hijack the processes with huge sum of money over his interest on a presidential candidate (names withheld).
