PRAYING FOR THE MINISTRY
BIBLE READING: PSALM 133: 1-3
From him who the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each person does its work. Ephesians 4:16 (NIV).
Ministry is like a giant Boeing aircraft. For its smooth take-off and safe landing a lot of people and processes are involved. It is necessary that attention be paid to every minute detail; from the manufacturing of the aircraft to it's maintenance, repair, overhaul, turnaround (refuelling, cleaning, catering services, baggage check-in, boarding, etc.), to air traffic control, to take-off, cruising and touchdown, extra care is taken. There has to be synergy between the people involved in all these processes because any negligence can result in a catastrophe.
Every God ordained and mandated ministry like an aircraft, carries destinies, kingdom assignments, potentials and inheritances. To bring these to bear, the leadership and the membership of that ministry must work as a unit. As the Psalmist said; How good and pleasant it is, when brothers live together in unity. It is like the precious oil poured on the head, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows His blessing, even life for evermore. Psalm 133:1-3(NIV).
The oil (grace and anointing) that powers ministry is supplied through intense supplication and intercession. Maintaining unity and galvanizing resources is powered by prayers. The leadership praying for the membership and the membership praying for the leadership is very critical for ministry success.
Consider Isaiah 56:7, "These I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. The burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; FOR MY HOUSE WILL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL NATIONS." The cardinal hallmark for the house of God is prayer. We should joyfully come to the house of God to pray, and more importantly remember that we are individual houses of prayer in the house of God. Let's turn our homes to houses of prayer. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem _(ministry)_: may those who love you be secure. Psalm 122:6(NIV).
ACTION POINT:
Lord, I make a commitment and sign up today to make my home a house of prayer for Dominion City. To constantly bring offerings and sacrificial prayer for her in Jesus name, Amen!

PRAYING FOR THE SET MAN
BIBLE READING EPHESIANS 6:19-20
Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be freely given to me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel. For which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly as I should. Matthew 26:31(NIV)
The set man of any ministry is the pioneer or the founder of that ministry. He is the custodian of the vision, the mandate, the message and the mission that he received from God. For these things to become fulfilled, praying for him is something that cannot be trivialized. Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown as they say.
Even Jesus requested for prayer from Peter, James and John both on the mount of transfiguration and at the garden of Gethsamane, that will show us how critical praying for the set man is.
In 2 Corinthians 11:26-29, Apostle Paul listed the dangers a set man faces;
●dangers from rivers (constant travelling)
●dangers from bandits (herdsmen)
●dangers from his country men (Government legislations that can place certain limitations)
●dangers from the Gentiles (unbeliever's media attacks)
●dangers in the city (religious riots especially in anti-gospel cities)
●dangers in the country
●dangers at the sea (air/road/sea mishaps)
●dangers from false brethren (members and leaders that are not fully committed to the vision. False brethren can cause rebellion and subversions. Seeing the burden and weight that a set man carries, we cannot but pray fervently for them.
In 2 Thessolonians 3:1-2, The great Apostle Paul requested: *Pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honoured, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith (NIV).
Another important aspect of the life of the set man is his family life. There is an unusual satanic onslaught against marriages especially of those on the frontline of the gospel expansion. So we need to underguard his marriage from the enemies attacks.
Also his children are ready targets of the evil one; the enemy wants to corrupt his children so that they can be negative testimonies to the kingdom. We pray that God will teach his children, and great will be their peace (Isaiah 54:14).
The set man needs able and faithful men to enable him fulfill those God given assignments. Aggrieved men can be detrimental to the assignment, Ahithophel and Joab, though long-standing and high ranking members of David's inner circle, joined both Absalom and Adonijah in the famous subversions that almost derailed the kingdom. Praying that his messages will not only be with words of wisdom but with the demonstration of the raw power of God in signs and wonders. 1Cor. 2:1-3.
Praying for him for wisdom to make heaven-backed decisions especially in building ministry. 2 Chronicles 19:35-37.
ACTION POINT:
Lord I make a solemn commitment today to pray regularly for the set man of this ministry, help me Holy Spirit to keep to this commitment in Jesus Name, amen.

PRAYER OF SUPPLICATION
BIBLE READING: 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-2
Let my supplication come before thee; deliver me according to thy word. Psalms 119:170 (KJV)
As the age embraces closure, end time events from the pit of hell against mankind intensifies, the need for emphasis on prayer has not only becomes vital, but a habitual necessity. While we are still here on earth, the influence of the preternatural world in human affairs is made possible by this singular act called prayer. Hence, heaven can do nothing except earth calls!
Heaven established this truth pertaining to prayer and its necessity, it is vital to know the different types of prayers revealed in the Bible and their corresponding effects. This is important because there is also such a thing as 'praying amiss' (James 4:3) which is as a result of insufficient knowledge about prayer and the technicalities thereof. One of those prayer types is supplication.
To supplicate refers to the act of entreating, pressing solicitation, a strong petition or request for a thing so desired(James 5:16 -17). While intercession is others-focused, supplication could be more self-focused. Yet, there common denominator is perseverance. In Luke 18, Jesus told a story of a woman who persisted in her petition for justice until she nearly suffocated the judge that feared neither God nor man with her persistent and passionate plea. Finally, she was granted her request. "...ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth." Isaiah 62:6b-7(KJV).
One vital key to effective prayer of supplication is seen in the information provided in our theme scripture Psalm 119:170. The Word: deliver is akin to "answer." In the Psalm, the tone suggests a call for God to honour His Word as David's request (supplication) was based on His Word. In other words, his request was in consonance with the Word of God and so he is asking God to answer his prayer on that basis. Thus, the basis for answers to your prayers of supplication is the will of God, and God's will is revealed in His Word. That means whatever you request in prayer must be in alignment with the Word or will of God.
Whenever you pray on your own terms, you pray amiss. Your request in prayer should be rooted in the will of God. This is why you must pray the Word! Let the Word be the foundation for your prayers. It is also the reason you must become a student of the Word. Cultivate the habit of studying the Word this year. Make goals to study the Word daily. The battles ahead in the last days require prayers, and your prayers become effective on the foundation of the Word of God. When your request in prayer is based on the Word, you are sure to receive the answer no matter how long it lingers. "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us" 1 John 5:14(KJV).
PRAYER
Ask the Lord for the grace to live by His Word which is a lamp for your feet and a light for your earthly navigation. That the Word of God becomes your standard in all facets of your life in Jesus Name.

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION
BIBLE READING: 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-6
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Ezekiel 22:30 (KJV)
Prayer is a service to God! It is one of the most important and greatest activities in the kingdom of God on earth. Intercession as a prayer type implies one standing or mediating for another; individual, institution, or a nation. It is synonymous to the job of a defense attorney in the court of justice. Spiritually, it is intervening for humanity before divinity; for creation before the creator. Sometimes, it is a self-imposed burden by an individual for divine intervention or restoration.
God desires for us to stand in the gap for others for many reasons: for example, several records of averted calamity recorded in the Bible were achieved through intercession. The Jewish prophets at different dispensations delivered their nation out of doom caused by sin through fervent intercession. On the other hand, the nation of Israel on some occasions became victims of God's wrath due to scarcity of "prophetic intercessors," so God lamented in Ezekiel 22:30 that He sought for a man to stand in the gap to enable Him avert His judgement.
In his letter to Timothy, Apostle Paul commanded that intercession be made for Kings, leaders, and those in authority (1Tim 2:1). Thus, intercession is both an old and a new testament practice. The present day ministry of Jesus is intercession. When Jesus finished the work of redemption for mankind on earth, He left for heaven and sat at the right hand of the Father as our mediator. Today, He intercedes for us on a daily basis before the Father as our Advocate. He pleads with the Father on our behalf against accusations brought against us by satan. However, our Lord Jesus needs our voice to come into agreement with His as our defense attorney in the courts of heaven. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow: though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18(KJV). Intercession is vital to our continuous victory over satan and his schemes.
Whenever we intercede for others first, we serve God because He commanded us to do so, and whenever we obey His command, we are in service to Him. When we intercede for others, we also keep the heavens open over whomever we intercede for and bring divine intervention into their lives. With intercession, we also avert divine wrath from a person, people or nation. When we intercede, we avert detrimental calamity fashioned to disrupt and destroy by the enemy. A classical example is found in the gospel of Luke 22: 31-32, Jesus averted satan's plot to cause Peter to lose his faith in God. He said, "Peter, I have prayed for you..." That's intercession.
Do you have a list of people, Institutions, or nations to intercede for in 2020?
PRAYER
Lord I repent for being selfish about my prayer request. I receive grace to become a prophetic intercessor that will stand in the gap to intercede for humanity, and legislate your counsel on earth in Jesus' Name, amen!
