TAG Industrial Watch: August 8, 2020
“The #covid-19 effect, while only increasing demand for industrial, has crept into the development side. Developers are building for the mass market of tenants with exit strategies in mind. While demand is present and with new development amenities and design features, leasing these #developed sites becomes much easier. However, it is important to remember that even with newer, evolutionary #industrial parks, an eye must be kept on vacancy. It is impractical to try to meet every changing tenant requirement and keep costs from skyrocketing. What remains clear is that industrial is the consistent asset class across all demographics and the changing #market.” -#adamabushagur

APC Pleads With Obiano To Reinstate Suspended Monarch
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Anambra chapter, has pleaded with Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra to reinstate Traditional Ruler Peter Uyanwa of Ukwulu community of Dunukofia Council Area of the state.
, suspended late July.
Uyanwa, who was suspended in July was also Chairman of Anambra Central Traditional Rulers Council.
Chief Basil Ejidike, Chairman of the APC in Anambra, made the call while addressing newsmen in Awka on Monday.
Ejidike accused the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) led government of meddlesomeness in the affairs of the traditional ruler institutions, saying that it was worrisome and unfortunate.
He said the development had political undertone which had the likelihood of strangulating the traditional institutions and making them to dance to the whims and caprices of the governor.
“As a people of culture, our traditional institutions and rulers are sacrosanct and should be treated as such, the recent imbroglio between the government and some traditional rulers in the state is a clear pointer to this fact.
“The suspension and withdrawal of certificate of recognition by the state government of the traditional ruler of Ukwulu, Igwe Peter Uyanwa, is another ploy to muscle down traditional rulers in Anambra.
“We are calling on Gov. Obiano to unconditionally reverse the suspension,” he said.
The APC expressed concern on why local government elections had not been held inAnambra in the past six years, saying it was having negative development effects on the state.
“Since assumption of office, Gov. Obiano has refused to conduct election into this very important stratum of government, ” he said.
He urged the governor to address the infrastructure decay in the state by building new amenities and maintaining new ones.
He also said the school system in the state needed better funding, noting that the administration had not been able to proffer solutions to the myriad economic challenges, and harness the economic potential of the state.
The APC chieftain urged people of the south eastern part of the country and Anambra in particular, to keep faith with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as better time was still on the way.
He enumerated the construction of second Niger bridge rebuilding of Enugu-Onitsha expressway, face-lift of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, and reconstruction of Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway as part of the dividends of Buhari ‘s adminstration.
But Chief Nobert Obi, Chairman of APGA in Anambra, dismissed the accusations against Obiano as mere political talk.
Obi said Obiano was acting in the best interest of the state and the people of Anambra were happy with APGA government which had done and was still doing a lot for them.(NAN)

Group Lauds PDP Over Violence-Free Congress In Enugu
The Ebullient Youths for Good Governance (EYGG), an Enugu State-based political organisation, has described the seamless and rancour-free congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state as laudable.
Founder of the group, Mr Victor Uchedienyi, gave the commendation in a statement, on Monday in Enugu.
Uchedienyi said the peaceful conduct of the congress was a clear evidence that the party faithful and gladiators regarded the unity of the party as paramount and above personal interests.
He said that those who expected the competitive nature of the congress to breed acrimony among the various interests, were disappointed.
The founder said that the PDP members had high expectations that the new executive members of the party would leverage on the successes recorded in the last four years to break new grounds.
He commended Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for providing the party executive with the enabling environment to discharge their duties.
“We appreciate the leadership style of Ugwuanyi, which we believe provided the leadership of the party with the enabling ground to perform.
“The peace, unity and progress that radiates in the party will not have been possible without the governor,” he said.
Uchedienyi charged the new leadership of the party to run an all-inclusive administration, adding that anything short of that would be counterproductive.
“We have implicit confidence in the ability of the party chairman, Mr Augustine Nnamani, and we call on all party faithful to accord him the support to succeed,” he said.
Uchedienyi urged the new leadership of the party to take such actions that would guarantee the growth of the party in the state.
“We pray God to give them the wisdom to take the party to greater heights and ensure that the right persona are brought into power to serve the people,” he said.
Recall that the PDP in Enugu State, on Aug. 8, 2020, conducted its state congress during which the Nnamani led executive was returned to serve for another four years. (NAN)
