UNDERSTANDING THE BENEFITS OF SERVICE (PART 2)

BIBLE READING: MALACHI 3:13-18; HEBREWS 6:10; MATTHEW 4:18-22; GALATIANS 6:9

"A workman may eat from the orchard he tends; anyone should be rewarded who protects another’s interests." Proverbs 27:18(Living Bible)

In a bid to continue from where we stopped in the last devotional, the importance of genuine service towards God and man can never be overemphasized. What so many Christian believers fail to understand is that service still remains the pathway to greatness and distinction (2Kgs 3:11-12). A wise man once said it this way: "Life is like a game of tennis: He who serves well ends up coming out on top." The onus therefore lies upon us as genuine disciples of Christ Jesus to serve with all our hearts because God truly pays. (Gal. 6:9) He may not pay at the end of the day, the end of the week or the end of the month. However, when He pays, everybody would know that He has paid well with a "good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over..." (Lk. 6:38b).

The following are the remaining basic benefits of service which are a follow-up on the previous study i.e., Divine Prosperity, Divine Distinction and Divine Memorial.

(4.) Divine Protection: The Lord God Almighty has a Primary Obligation towards His assets rather than His liabilities. (Mal. 3:16) In other words, genuine service makes us assets to Him and every businessman protects his Investments.

(5.) Divine Health/Healing: Serving God genuinely in Spirit and in Truth keeps us healthy as His children. (Ex. 23:25) Wise workmen always ensure their useful tools always are in good shape.

(6.) Divine Honour: The Lord will always honour those who make it their primary duty to honour Him through quality service *(1Sam. 2:3.

(7.) Divine Impartation: Only those who render genuine service are qualified to receive a double portion of the Grace upon the ministry and ministers they serve faithfully. (2Kgs 2:1-15)

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, to You alone do we ascribe all the Adoration for deeming us worthy to serve You. O Lord, please strengthen us and help us keep our eyes on the goal of service in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.

EQUALITY OR EQUITY BETWEEN MALES AND FEMALES?

I put up a post I tagged- "Between males and Females" a couple of days ago.

In that post I put up a clip I had heard earlier of a phone conversation between this fellow who was ditching a lady he had dated because he was interested in getting married but he wasn't going to marry a woman he had done things like smoke marijuana with.

In the same post I spoke about a Facebook post I saw where the poster was speaking about how he had a room-mate who would do all sorts of things openly with his girlfriend in school and how he eventually did not marry her even after the life they lived together.
I saw when this Facebook poster said how he felt pity for the person who would eventually marry the girl, and then some ladies on the thread responded in ways that showed they were offended.
As far as they were concerned it was both the girl and the guy that did all the things they did together so why would he feel compunction on behalf of the girl alone?

Let me say a few things if it would help someone reading.

Whether you are a male or female please be conscious of things that will hurt you in the future. Do not throw caution to the wind and engage in behaviour you are likely to regret in the future, but most importantly do everything to obey God and please Him. That will be your security in the future.

Disobedience and rebellion are not gender-specific.

However, let me say something to the ladies here particularly.

I saw a video interview on the wall of Ifedy Inspire where a feminist lady who is an author was interviewed by a talkshow host and she was talking about her struggle for equality between genders.
Now, while I do not believe the man is superior to the woman just because he is a man there is something impracticable about a struggle for "social equality" for both genders.

Let me explain.

I have 3 daughters that I love very much and I tell them the exact same thing I am about to say to you in a way they can relate to it.

Men have their strengths and weaknesses, and women have their strengths and weaknesses.

You cannot conflate both.

And so if you are fighting for social justice and equity on behalf of women you are fighting for the right thing, but if your fight is for equality in the eyes of society (what I choose to call "social equality" then you are making a mistake.

It is a hard fact but the truth is there will never be equality anywhere. Not even in Heaven.
It is impractical.
Everyone will be rewarded according to their works and contributions- that is equity.
So your emphasis should be on equity and not equality.

There is no point in time when women will not be seen by the majority as weaker than men and so in times of conflict or chaos society will for the foreseeable future very likely be more prone to spring to a woman's defence than it would to a man.
In the same way, there are certain things a man will do that will be explained away faster than if a defence had to be put up because they were done by a woman.

The hooligan that was smoking weed with a girl he picked up at a nightclub and dated her for 4 years only to dump her because he wanted to get married is a hooligan no doubt, but the girl was very foolish indeed.
There is no way for example that a philandering woman will be viewed by society in the same way as a philandering man is viewed.
This is the same reason why a key that can open all sorts of locks is viewed by most people as an asset, while a lock that can be opened by all sorts of keys is viewed as a liability.
Let us be real so we can help others.
Anything you do to destroy your life will bring dire consequences- but these consequences will be especially so when they are a result of a profligate lifestyle, and the woman who indulges in it will come out looking worse than the man who did.

While working for a more just society be mindful of these things so you do not cause yourself more unnecessary pain.

RAISING GODLY SEED

BIBLE READING: DEUTERONOMY 14:1; PROVERBS 22:6; MALACHI 2:15

"Don’t you see that children are God’s Best Gift? The fruit of the womb His Generous Legacy? Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth. Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children! Your enemies don’t stand a chance against you; you’ll sweep them right off your doorstep" Psalm 127:3-5 (The Message Bible).

One of the most profound truths every Christian believer must come to terms with is that we are merely stewards of the Lord God Almighty's Riches and Resources (Jn. 3:27). The Lord is the Owner and Creator of everything in existence while man is a steward or trustee of His Possessions. This reality also applies to our children.

As we have seen in our Key Scriptural Text, the Bible reveals that children could be likened to "arrows in the Hand of a Warrior..." (Ps. 127:4). The pertinent question the inquisitive seeker of Truth would ask goes thus: Who exactly is the Warrior in question? A few might argue "the biological father, of course!" But is that really what the Scripture is saying? The preceding verse goes on to clarify this puzzle: "Behold, children are a heritage FROM THE LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward" (vs 3). What exactly does this imply? This means that the Lord God Almighty is the Warrior in question while children are the arrows in His Hand. However, it is a known fact that it's impossible for archers to launch their arrows without the use of a bow (Ezek. 39:9). Likewise, archers preserve their arrows in a quiver in order to prevent them from becoming crooked (Isa. 49:2). Herein lies the Truth: The Lord Himself is the Archer, fathers are the bows while mothers are the quivers.

The onus therefore lies upon us to understand that children come FROM the Lord God Almighty THROUGH their parents. In other words, God remains the Source of our children while we as fathers and mothers are those channels He designed to pass them through this world. May our eyes remain constantly open to the reality of our stewardship of these Godly Seeds we call our children who actually belong to God.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, we honour You as our Only Source and Sustainer of our lives. O Lord, please enlighten our eyes to comprehend our role as stewards of our children in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.

EXERCISING PROPHETIC DOMINION

BIBLE READING: GENESIS 1:26-28; PSALM 8:1-9; EXODUS 7:20; JUDGES 5:19-20

"Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped till the people had revenge upon their enemies" Joshua 10:12-13(NKJV).

God created the Earth and gave man dominion over the Works of His Hands, including all the elements and Ordinances of Heaven (Gen. 1:26; Ps. 8:6).* Even though Adam lost his dominion to the devil, (Lk. 4:6). Jesus has restored that same authority to us as His Body (Matt. 28:18). We see in the Old Testament how the prophets of God exercised Prophetic Dominion and how they harnessed the Forces of Creation to enforce the Will of God in their days. Moses exercised Prophetic Dominion over the wind, the River Nile, the Sun and the Red Sea in order to defeat Pharaoh and bring about the Purpose of God for Israel. Joshua exercised dominion over the Sun (Josh. 10:12). The other prophets including Elijah, Elisha, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Gideon etc., all exercised Prophetic Dominion.

Christ Jesus was a Living Example of an understanding and consistent exercise of Prophetic Dominion during His Earthly Ministry. He demonstrated the Power of God through His Uncountable Miracles and the Forces of Nature obeyed Him (Matt. 14:25; Mk. 4:39-41). We are living in the Last Days when God is eager to showcase His Power as in the Days of Old. This Same Authority is available to us today as revealed in the Word. As satan is increasing his works in these Last Days, the Lord God Almighty wants to manifest Himself more than ever through His people in order to turn the hearts of many to Himself. God is looking for people to walk in the anointing of Moses, Elijah and the Prophets of Old. All Authority has been given to us in Christ and He promised that everything He did, we would equally do and even Greater Works indeed (Jn. 14.12)..

PRAYER:

Thank You, Heavenly Father for honouring us by entrusting to us Your Creation. Please enable us to use the Authority You have given us to continue to enforce Your Counsel and Your Will so that men would continue to experience Your Unlimited Power and be drawn to You in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.
