THE POWER OF PROPHETIC CONNECTION (2)

BIBLE READING: DEUT. 34:9; JOSH. 1 17-18

As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage. Exodus 17:11

What a man needs to succeed in life is much more than enviable certifications or cutting-edge skill. You need more than instruction; you need apostolic or prophetic impartation. Joshua had faithfully served Moses, and when the latter’s day of departure was near. Moses asked God to choose a man that would take on the next phase of the assignment. God told him to take Joshua his assistant, and publicly endorse him, putting his hands on him. This was an impartation that eternally redefined the ministry of Joshua as coroborrated by Deut.34:9(KJV); "And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him; and the children of Israel harkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses."

Joshua 1:17-18 also demonstrates that the impartation of wisdom, honour, and authority that Moses carried was seen functioning effortlessly in the life of Joshua because he was rightly connected to Moses. As you connect properly with your man of God, there are things that will bow to you cheaply. The servant of Elisha had his master's rod but not his master's voice. How do I rightly connect to my prophet?

I. PRAY FOR HIM: Philippians 1:19; Ephesians 6:18-19. There are so many burdens on the shoulders of your man of God. Pray constantly for him.

II. LISTEN TO HIM: Luke 16 :30-31. Treasure his words, instructions and teachings.

III. SERVE HIM: Philippians 2:22, "But ye know the proof of him, that as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel." Joshua 1:1, further illustrates - "Now after the death of Moses the servant of Lord, it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying...." God addressed Joshua as, "Moses' servant," not his associate. Serve your man of God in any capacity.

IV. HONOUR HIM FINANCIALLY AND MATERIALLY: In Luke 8:1-3, several upwardly mobile women that benefited from the ministry of Jesus brought money to support and honour Him.

Philippians 4:15-19, we often quote verse 19; not realizing that, that apostolic and prophetic invocation was as a result of the preceeding verses that tell us about the partnership through giving and receiving that went on between the Apostle Paul and the Philippian church. It was not a wish; it was a sweet-smelling aroma, a sacrifice acceptable and, well-pleasing to God. The Philippian church engraved themselves into the heart of Apostle Paul with their substance to such an extent that he always remembered them with joy.

PRAYER:
Father, I ask for the right attitude toward my spiritual shepherd, that my partnership with him in the advancement of the gospel will be of great joy, that I may share in his grace in Jesus name, Amen.
