*WHY PEOPLE DON’T ACT*

*BIBLE READING: JAMES 2:14-17*

*He who observes the wind will not sow, And he who regards the clouds will not reap. As you do not know what is the way of the wind, or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child. So you do not know the works of God who makes everything. In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good. Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 (NKJV)*

Often times huge projects and visions do not transit from concept to reality due to inaction. A lot of people do not take action towards the actualisation of their dreams and visions for several unjustifiable reasons. Great destinies and projects have been aborted or stagnated by inaction, complacency, and the expectation of a perfect condition or timing that may never materialise.

Some people wait until all the conditions are right and resources fully supplied before taking the first step. If you are in this category, you will never achieve anything or make a mark in life because wisdom requires that you start from where you are and make use of what is in your hand as God directed Moses in the wilderness (Exodus 4:2). Multi-million Naira businesses have started from people’s homes, cars, mobile phones, social media platforms etc., while some others with such dreams are still waiting for money or grants to rent a shop or a mega outlet at the heart of the city.

Another reason why people do not act is due to self-indulgence. God made man and gave him charge to tend the garden, and also promised to bless the work of his hands by making him fruitful without any room for laziness. Self-indulgence often reflects in one giving more attention to the desires of the flesh for comfort at the expense of being fruitful – “As a door turns on its hinges, so does the lazy man on his bed. The lazy man buries his hand in the bowl; it wearies him to bring it back to his mouth. The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can answer sensibly.” Proverbs 26:14-16(NKJV).

Laziness has crippled a lot of people with potentials and denied the nation of huge economic possibilities. Every moment has strategic importance as opined by Mark Gerson about the Israelis in the book, "Start-Up Nation: The story of Israel’s Economic Miracle," by Dan Senor and Saul Singer. He also stated that, “When an Israeli man wants to date a woman, he asks her out that night. When an Israeli entrepreneur has a business idea, he will start it that week. The notion that one should accumulate credentials before launching a venture simply does not exist. This is actually good in business. Too much time can only teach you what can go wrong, not what could be transformative.” This excerpt is corroborated by the scripture in Proverbs 24:33-34 that a little sleep, and a little slumber will result in poverty becoming the order of the day.

Great dreams without taking corresponding actions will make a man poor no matter the size of his dreams. Determine to jettison laziness, self-indulgence and embrace diligence in all your endeavours by starting that early morning exercise, beginning that healthy dieting, regulating the time you spend with your television, phone or other similar negative habits and your life will be better and more productive.

*ACTION POINT
Write down the things that you indulge in that have been crippling your productivity and cancel them in the place of prayer, take decisive action, set timelines, get an accountability partner to help you in changing the habit or starting that enterprise that has been pending.
