Happy New Month from #theawakeningp. This September, Our theme is:
"YOUTH AND POLITICAL PARTICIPATION IN THE SOUTH EAST".

It is often said that ‘Youths are the leaders of tomorrow’, but here in Nigeria, it is a different story altogether. Nigeria has a booming population of over 200 million people and even though the youths consist of over 70 per cent of the total population of the country, they are extremely eliminated from socio-economical and political spheres.

The young ones have not been allowed enough participation in the political space of the country, hence the agitation for more of their involvement in the governance of Nigeria. Although there have been some legal advocacies and youth-related policies and programs like the Not Too Young To Run Bill that was passed in May 2018. However, there is still work to be done regarding Youth Inclusion in governance.

This month on The Awakening, we will be focusing on Youth participation in the four states in the South East.
