BUILDING THE HOUSE THROUGH WISDOM

BIBLE READING: PROVERBS 4; ECCLESIASTES 1:1; 1PETER 2:4-5

“Through Wisdom a house is built, and by Understanding it is established; by Knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” Proverbs 24:3-4 (NKJV)

King Solomon reigned from his throne in Jerusalem and preached a God-given Message simultaneously which is the actual purpose of the Marketplace Ministry i.e., to demonstrate God’s Manifold Wisdom. The Cambridge dictionary defines Wisdom as “the ability to use your knowledge and experience to make good decisions and judgement.” God’s Wisdom, on the other hand, is Supernatural. It is not learnt through formal education but it is endowed by the Lord God Almighty when we ask. (Jam. 1:5) The great insights from the Books King Solomon wrote have over the years imparted Wisdom, transformed the lives of many and set them on course for success. The impact of King Solomon’s ministry was built by the operation of God’s Wisdom in his life.

King Solomon was one of the most prolific real estate developers in Biblical History and more than qualified to say, “Through Wisdom a house is built” (Prov. 24:3). He constructed the House of the Lord or the Temple in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, a project that took about seven years to complete and turned out to be one of the wonders of the ancient civilizations. (2 Chron. 3:1) He also built in thirteen years his own magnificent palace i.e., the House of the Forest of Lebanon as well as gardens and various infrastructure. (1Kgs. 7:1–3) However, a physical residence was not the only structure Solomon had in mind. He understood that the virtue of Wisdom has constructive life-giving qualities: “The Lord by Wisdom founded the Earth; by Understanding He established the Heavens.” (Prov. 3:19).

Wisdom produces Fruit, initiates Life and inaugurates Creative Wonders. It creates, nurtures, fosters, establishes and fills a house, whether the “house” in question is a brick-and-mortar building, a family, an enterprise, an individual reputation or personal character. The Scripture personifies Wisdom as a productive, hard working woman: “Lady Wisdom has built and furnished Her Home; it’s supported by Seven Hewn Timbers. The banquet meal is ready to be served: lamb roasted, wine poured out, table set with silver and flowers.” Prov. 9:1–2(MSG). Although Wisdom is an intangible quality, King Solomon described it poetically as if it were an actual person.

The Bible refers to believers as “God’s House.” (Heb. 3:6) Through Wisdom, God’s children are built into a House. Apostle Paul taught that we are members of the Household of God: “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the Household of God, having been built on the Foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the Chief Cornerstone, in Whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a Holy Temple in the Lord, in Whom you also are being built together for a Dwelling Place of God in the Spirit.” (Eph. 2:19–22 NKJV). As individual members of the Body of Christ, we are being built together into one Holy Temple in the Lord. (1 Cor. 3:17) Praise the Lord! By the Wisdom of God we are being built into a Spiritual House for God.

PRAYER:

Father, we thank You for Your Wisdom which You have made available to the New Creation. O Lord, we ask for a Greater Dimension of Your Wisdom to enable us fulfill the Ministry You have entrusted to us in the Marketplace in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.
