THY KINGDOM COME!
BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 6:9-13
"The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:" Isaiah 14:24(KJV)
God's plans and purposes are eternal! The scriptures reveal seven reasons behind the creation of the earth and the life therein. Chief among these purposes of God is to make material His invisible Kingdom with the influence of its values. He desires to have a concrete and tangible world that reflects His character and portrays His functionality. This is His will for earth and mankind, and it is His pleasure! "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Revelation 4:11(KJV).
Alas, the reverse is the case as the fall of man brought the world vis-á-vis, the society into disarray. Nevertheless, one of God's key attributes to note is the irrevocability of His purpose. God's purpose is unchangeable; it is eternal. "The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:" Isaiah 14:24(KJV).
God hasn't given up on His plan and purpose for the earth yet. He has purposed in His heart to bring about the manifestation of His kingdom on the earth. This is why God put man on earth and gave him the dominion mandate. This is God’s purpose. However, for God’s purpose to be done on earth, God’s children must enforce it through prayer. Prayer is earthly license for heavenly intervention. It is giving God the right to intervene in the natural state of events and bring about His will and purpose instead.
To see God’s values, will and purpose done on earth, we must pray “Thy Kingdom come!” We must pray that God’s values, will, purpose and influence should overshadow the earth. This is why He set up the church as the agent that enforces His plans through prayer; rebuilding the ancient ruins and modelling His eternal counsel for life and living on earth.
Therefore, as Christians we are mandated with this purpose. You are not called for nothing; your call places a demand on you to pray for His kingdom manifestation, model its values, virtues and lifestyle in the society. "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.1 Peter 2:9(KJV).
PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. We come boldly to Your throne of grace, we receive mercy by the blood of Jesus and we ask; let Your Kingdom come! We break the covering cast over the nations and demand that the gospel will have free course and every sphere of society will come under the influence of Your Kingdom in Jesus name!
