Governor Ganduje Suspends Salihu Yakasai For Criticising Buhari Over #endsars
[BREAKING] #endsars: Ganduje suspends aide for criticising Buhari
Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has suspended his Special Adviser on Media, Salihu Yakasai, for criticising the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).
The PUNCH reports that Yakasai lambasted Buhari for not addressing Nigerians amid national outrage as well as days of online and offline protests against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force.
Yakasai, who tweeted through his handle, @dawisu, had said the President has no empathy for Nigerians by his inaction.
The media aide wrote this shortly before the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, announced the disbandment of SARS in Abuja on Sunday afternoon.
Yakasai had tweeted, “I have never seen a government with zero empathy like that of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“So many times when his people are going through a difficult time and expect some sort of tap on shoulder to reassure them that he is in charge, but he failed to do so.
“The ‘I don’t care attitude’ is on another level.
“To speak to your own people over issues that are bedevilling them has become something like a favour you are doing to them.
“Over and over again, you cannot spare five minutes to address the nation to calm them down, the same people you went to the 36 states to beg for their votes, it is heartbreaking.”
Reacting in a statement, the Kano State Government described Yakasai’s comments as “unguarded utterances”, noting that his suspension was with immediate effect.
The statement was titled ‘Ganduje Suspends Media Aide Over Attack On Buhari’ and signed by the Commissioner for Information, Muhammed Garba.
The statement released on Sunday afternoon partly read, “Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has suspended his Special Adviser on Media, Salihu Tanko Yakasai over some unguarded utterances on the person of President Muhammadu Buhari on the social media platform.
“The state Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, who conveyed the governor’s directive in a statement this afternoon, said the suspension is with immediate effect.
“He said that though the media aide has own up the indiscreet comment as his personal opinion, but that as a public figure, it will be difficult to differentiate between personal opinion and official stand on matters of public concern.
“The governor, therefore, warned political appointees and public servants to guard against making statements capable of drawing unnecessary controversy and heating up the polity.”
Ganduje had in April sacked the state’s Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mu’azu Magaji, for celebrating the death of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.

Army To Launch Operation Fireball Against Boko Haram, To Switch Over To War Mode by Lifediary
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has said the launching of “Operation Fireball,” is the final onslaught against Boko Haram insurgency. The over a decade long insurgency has claimed 32,000 lives with property worth about N3.42 trillion in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.
Announcing the new operation at the weekend in Maiduguri during the concluded Combined Conference of Chief of Army Staff, he said: “We are approaching a crucial phase in our counter-terrorism operations in the Northeast with Operation Fireball.”
He said the new operation would be extended to insurgents’ hideouts of Sambisa Forest, Mandara Mountains and the Lake Chad region.
“My recent directive on the relocation of AHQ DATOPS and AHQ DOAL to the Northeast Theatre is geared towards ensuring that AHQ provides maximum support to the operation,” he said.
Buratai added that he issued the COAS Special Order, specifically, for troops to switch over to a war mode.
“This is necessary for the final destruction of the criminal insurgents,” he declared. He, therefore, charged courageous and exemplary leadership to be displayed at all levels, as highlighted during the conference panel discussion.
“No excuse will be tolerated in the accomplishment of Operation Fireball objectives to end war,” he warned.
He equally told field commanders not to rest on their oars, as there is the need to maintain a positive disposition and attitude toward improving on ongoing operations.

Segun Showunmi Supports Endsars, Asks Police To Release Arrested Protesters
The time is now for us to have a police force that makes sense, we have embarrassed ourselves for too long. #endsarsnow https:///dtC1pWaIYg
It has come to my attention that young people who came out to protest the #endsars in Abeokuta have been arrested and taken to the force headquarters in Eleweeran. Peaceful Protest is the right of a free people, especially in a democracy.
It will be my advice that the Nigerian Police Force should not make a tensed situation worse. To the protesters, your message has been heard, loud and clear. And to the security agencies, decency and restraint must be the watchword.

Ebonyi NSCDC Nabs 3 For Alleged Impersonation
The Ebonyi Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has arrested three persons for alleged impersonation and fake job offer.
The State Commandant of the corps, Lucy Samu, made the disclosure in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Paul Odimba, in Abakiliki on Sunday.
Samu said that the suspects were arrested, following a tip-off, for allegedly deceiving unsuspecting members of the public with “fake employment opportunities”.
According to the statement, the suspects (all adults) impersonated and deceived the public with fake job opportunities into the Ebonyi Fertilizer and Chemical Company.
“We want to assure the government and people of a thorough investigation into the matter while our legal team will offer advice on the way forward,” she said.
The General Manager of the company, Mrs Emerald Ude-Akaji, said her office received several reports of alleged ongoing employment in the company by a syndicate through a widely circulated notice.
Ude-Akaji, who is also the Special Assistant to the Governor on Fertilizer Development, said she commenced investigation into the matter and decided to “play along” with the syndicate in order to bust it.
“My personal assistant called them to indicate his interest and they gave him an appointment which he honoured with a team of NSCDC personnel attached to us.
“We saw lots of unsuspecting applicants, who turned up for the job offer and the NSCDC personnel subsequently arrested members of the syndicate.
“It is left for those arrested to explain whether they are leaders of the syndicate or people hired to work for it,” Ude-Akaji said.
One of the suspects told NAN that they were not members of a syndicate but staff of Golden Neolife Diamite International (GNLD) Company, which deals in agro-based products and food supplements, amongst others.
“Our company offers employment to people through the purchase and marketing of its products because we also deal in organic fertilizers (liquid).
“The notice of employment, which we placed indicated a ‘fertilizer company’ and not Ebonyi Fertilizer Company,” the suspect said on the condition of anonymity.
The suspects said that they had contacted their management, saying that the company “does not deceice people with offer of fake employment”. (NAN)
