JOY TO THE WORLD

BIBLE READING: LUKE 2:8-18

"Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:10-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

When you think of the word “joy,” what comes to mind?To the Israelites joy at the coming of the messiah would have been because; the messiah who was going to deliver them from Roman oppression had come. The prophesied messiah has come but they didn’t recognise Him. “He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.” ‭‭John‬ ‭1:10-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ They expected a war messiah but instead they got a man of peace, who preached and taught love. They expected that the joy at His coming would destroy the Romans but the His coming brought the joy of salvation.

Because of Christ’s birth, joy is not only expected, it is also a praise-filled assurance that abides in you—reminding you that God keeps His promises and is working everything out for your good and His glory. Joy helps you fix your eyes on Jesus and point others to Jesus because joy fulfilled is Jesus.

As you continue to celebrate the coming of Christ, take a moment to thank God for the joy that entered the world the moment Jesus gave up heaven to become Immanuel, “God with us.” Joy is now the fruit of the receated human spirit and nothing should ever take away your joy. Guard your heart diligently at all costs to preserve the joy of the Lord which has been infused in your heart.

PRAYER:
Thank you Father for the joy of the Lord which is now my strength. Give me the grace to rejoice in you always despite any contrary experience that may come my way in Jesus' Name, amen.
