ENDING THE YEAR WELL

BIBLE READING: JOB 8:7

“You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭65:11‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

As the year comes to an end, one of the things we must pay attention to is the way we exit the old year and how we enter into the new year. A lot of people do not pay attention to this.

The end of the year is not a time to be in a frenzy to try to get the things you think you couldn’t get through out the year. Instead it is a time to look back, reflect on the year and give God thanks for keeping you through the year. To end the year properly, here are some specific things you should do.

1. GIVE GOD A WORTHY THANKSGIVING OFFERING TO SAY THANK YOU FOR KEEPING YOU THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. Luke 17:11-19, the story is told of ten leper’s who met Jesus and while Jesus healed them all, only one returned to give thanks. “So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you whole. ” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:17-19‬ ‭(NKJV)‬‬

The fact that He returned and gave thanks got him wholeness (that means all his lost limbs were restored) as opposed to the others who only got healed from their leprosy.

2. GO AND HONOR YOUR BIOLOGICAL PARENTS.: Give them some thing tangible, no matter how little, show them you appreciate them and let the blessing of the commandment rest on you. “Honour your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” ‭‭Eph. 6:2-3 (NKJV).

We live in a society that is steadily losing the values of honour for parents and for elders. However, this is a command given by God himself, so if you want it to be well with you in the coming year, and you also want to live long, put a smile on the faces of your parents, honour them and God’s blessings will rest on you as you enter into the new year.

3. PLAN FOR THE NEW YEAR: As the year ends, one very important thing you must do is plan for the coming year. It is important to look back and evaluate the past year, see where you had victories, catalogue your achievements, take note of the areas where you failed and get ready for the next year. It is better to set your goals for the year now, instead of waiting for the new year to catch you unprepared. "Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You." Psalm 143:8(NKJV).

ACTION POINT:
Plan a personal retreat where you prayerfully review the year 2019, spend time in His Presence and prepare for the new year.
