Marcus Onobun Succeeds Okiyi As Edo Speaker

Nine members of Edo State House of Assembly, on Monday, elected Hon. Marcus Onobun from Esan West local government area of Edo as the new Speaker of the Edo State House of the Assembly. The House had earlier impeached Hon.



Frank Okiye from Esan North East, who had presided over the troubled House since it’s June 21 midnight inauguration.Recall that 10 out of the 24 members of House of Assembly were inaugurated in the midnight of June 21, 2019, leaving the rest 14 members out the House.


Hon Frank Okiye was impeached over alleged financial misappropriation and high-handedness.The motion for Okiye’s impeachment was moved by Hon. Henry Okhuarobo (Ikpoba-Okha) and seconded by Hon. Emmanuel Okodowa (Esan North-East II) constituency.
