True love is the love that has been tested and proven to be genuine. It is real love that can withstand the test of time, sacrifice of resources, tolerance of imperfections, forgiveness of offenses. It can still be true even if there is a reason or reasons.

The distinctive quality of true love is that even if the reasons are no more there, true love still endures/persists because it is not rooted in the materialistic benefits. A true lover loves you for who you are and not what you are. God in Jesus Christ is the ultimate Example of true love. Humans are naturally incapable of true love without the imitating of Christ and partaking of the divine nature.

A true lover of God does not serve God for the material blessings, but for the sweet fellowship and spiritual benefits of sonship. Hypocritical love or lip service is the bane of our human relationship and even the normalcy of our spiritual life. So, a true love is that love that will always be true even when the reasons are no more in sight.
